“A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENT IN GOVERNMENT AND NON-

GOVERNMENT SCHOOL AT SECONDARY LEVEL”

Dr. Udaivir Sharma

ABSTRACT:-In this science and technology oriented society every citizen should be able to understand

the role of science. The study of the science is helpful to acquire knowledge and skills for learners’

future life and occupation. This is essential for achieving concrete results in terms of economic and

social progress.

Keyword: - Understand, Learner, Essential.

Introduction

In these days where knowledge is multiplying

day by day, where new methodologies,

strategies and technologies are being invented,

where new approaches and systems are being

explored :where new models are being initiated

to redesign and reshape the prevailing academic

environment in institutions to keep pace with

increasing knowledge in each sphere, where

educational literature is being enriched by new

innovations the objective of making learning

more promising and maximally effective to the

learner can be achieved by making instructions

individualized.

In India science and technology have

been in use since long. But in recent years,

India as nation is heading for rapid

individualization based on the use of high

technology such efforts needs automation and

the use of the computers; these efforts have to

measure requirements. First there is a need of

highly trained experts who can build indigenous

systems of science and technology; Second

scientifically literate citizens, who can take

decisions about the proper use of science

technology?

In this science and technology oriented

society every citizen should be able to

understand the role of science. The study of the

science is helpful to acquire knowledge and

skills for learners’ future life and occupation.

This is essential for achieving concrete results

in terms of economic and social progress.

Science satisfies the curiosity of the

learner regarding nature and other scientific

phenomena. Thus it is helpful in developing

scientific attitude.

Objectives of the study

1.To find out the level of achievement in science

at secondary school level students.

2.To find out the achievement in science of

secondary level Hindu and Muslim students.

3.To compare the achievement in science of

secondary school level girls and boys.

4.To compare the achievement in science of

secondary school level students studying in

Government and Non-Government schools.

Hypotheses of the study

1.There is no significant difference between

Hindu and Muslim boys of Government schools

at secondary level in the achievement of science.

2.There is no significant difference between

Hindu and Muslim girls of Government schools

at secondary level in the achievement of science.

3.There is no significant difference between

Hindu and Muslim boys of Non-Government

schools at secondary level in the achievement of

science.

4.There is no significant difference between

Hindu and Muslim girls of Non-Government

schools at secondary level in the achievement of

science.

Delimitations of the study

The following were the delimitations of the

study.

1.This study was limited to the secondary

school students of Lucknow city only.

2.The study was confined to the students of

class XI only.

3.Only U.P. BOARD schools have been selected

for the study.

4.Only Hindu and Muslim students have been

selected for this study.

Methodology and design of the study

This research is descriptive research.

Design op the study

2.Population

3.Sample and sampling procedure

4.Description of tools used

5.Data collection

6.Formula used

Variables- This has mainly two types of

variables as

1.Dependent variables

2.Independent variables

Population- The population of the present

study constitutes all the secondary school

students of Government and Non-Government

schools of Lucknow city.

Sample- The sample selected for this study

considered of 280 students of secondary school

that means 140 from Government schools and

140 from Non-Government schools. So these

were selected from 8 schools of Lucknow city

that means 3 from Government schools and 5

from Non-Government schools.

Sampling Techniques- Simple random

sampling is used in this study.

Tool Used- The tool used in this study is

“Science Achievement Test” made by Dr. R.D.
