UHVAC GIS on Site Power-Frequency Voltage Tests and
Restricted-frequency Principle of Frequency-regulating
Resonance Devices

Abstract: Aiming at UHVAC GIS on site power-frequency voltage tests, twoproblems including the site-adaptability of power-frequency resonance devicesand the power-frequency strict compliancy of frequency-regulating resonancedevices become more remarkable. Through discussing the classiication oftesting frequency bound, it is indicated that the high voltage tests in the testingpower frequency bound (45-65Hz) satisfy the requirement of power-frequencystrict compliancy. So a restricted-frequency scheme principle offrequency-regulating resonance devices is put forward, i.e. The testing-circuitresonance is obtained by means of regulating frequency in the testingpower-frequency bound, and the tuning range of the testing capacitors ismagniied with deploying parallel-capacitors. Finally, in order to simplify thetesting circuit,a basic regulation of the scheme of UHVAC GIS on sitepower-frequency voltage tests is proposed, i.e. The testing frequency is restrictedin the testing power-frequency bound or within some extend to the best of itsabilities by means of selecting suitable testing devices and their parameters.Key words: UHVAC GIS, on site power frequency voltage test, series resonancedevice, testing frequency
I. Introduction
According to GIS current standards, there are two different test proposalsfor GIS on site power frequencyvoltage test: one is to adoptpower-frequency resonance devicewhile the other is to utilizefrequency-regulating resonancedevice. The principle of selecting testproposal is as follows:power-frequency resonance deviceshould be given priority over the other. But the frequency-regulatingresonance device can also be selectedif the condition does not allow.
GIS current standards are mainlyapplied for 550kV and less than 550voltage grade. As for the UHV, twoproblems become more remarkable, including the site-adaptability ofpower frequency resonance deviceand the power-frequency strictcompliancy of frequency-regulatingresonance device .
