Second Global Sustainable Transport Conference

• 14-16 October 2021 in Beijing, China

• Hybrid format - virtual and limited in-person participation

Structure:

• Opening and closing ceremony

• Three plenary sessions

• Ministers’ Forum

• Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Transport

• Forum on the Role of Business in advancing sustainable transport

• Six thematic sessions

• [Side events will be organized on margins of Conference.]

Topics - Second Global Sustainable Transport Conference

Content of six thematic sessions:

• All modes of transport—road, rail, aviation and waterborne—will be addressed

• Key transport objectives, such as access for all while leaving no one behind, green mobility, efficiency, safety and resilience, will be discussed

• Topics covered: sustainable transport and poverty eradication, livelihoods and economic recovery; sustainable transport and regional development; sustainable transport and connectivity; green development; policies for sustainable transport; sustainable transport and sustainable cities; role of science, technology, innovation and the private sector for sustainable transport

• Concerns of the poor, women, the youth, older people, persons with disabilities, and other groups, as well as of countries in special situations, including LLDCs, will receive particular focus

Participation - Second Global Sustainable Transport Conference

All Conference proceedings will be open to all participants via live stream which will be displayed on Conference website.

Member States: To deliver statements, Member States can choose between having them delivered in-person by a representative in Beijing; or by making a live statement through virtual platform; or by submitting a pre-recorded statement to Secretariat in advance.

In-person participation:

• Registration for in-person participation is open until 1 October 2021 at https://indico.un.org/event/1000216/

• There will be no onsite registration for in-person participation

Speakers’ list for plenary sessions:

• Member States and Observer States should inscribe via e-deleGATEplatform (edelegate.un.int) accessible by NY-based permanent missions until Monday, 4 October 2021, at noon New York time.
