Spiritual Communion My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive

You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

PLEASE, BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS

All Outdoor Masses will be in the

courtyard. You do not need to sign up to attend Mass. Masks & social

distancing are required.

Please bring your own chair, hand sanitizer & a water bottle. We are

limited to 100 people. Once the Mass is full, we will ask that you return for

the next Mass.

Those who are 65 and older please consider your underlying conditions

and use your discretion when attending Mass. The live streamed Masses are recorded and can be viewed on our Facebook page.

UNWRINKLED

FEAST OF FAITH What Is the Mass?

What is the Mass? There is no simple answer to that question. The Church uses many different images and terms to describe our most important prayer. The Mass is the celebration of the Eucharist, a Greek word that means “thanksgiving.” It is the Lord’s Supper. It is the Breaking of the Bread. It is the memorial of the Lord’s passion, death, and resurrection. It is the Holy Sacrifice, in which the

sacrifice of Christ on the cross is perpetuated. It is the holy and divine liturgy, the sacred mysteries. It is the source and summit of our Christian lives, the new covenant, the work of the Holy Spirit, the paschal mystery. The many different words and images that we use when we speak of the Mass are not signs of confusion, but of wonder at what the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1328) calls the “inexhaustible richness” of the Eucharist. The Mass, our greatest prayer and our deepest mystery, is celebrated every day, many times a day, the world over. The Eucharist is both “bread from heaven” and “daily bread.” The Mass is our everyday miracle. —Corinna Laughlin, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Perhaps you, too, love a service member. Or maybe, because you’ve served in the past or know someone

who has, you understand the sacrifices these men and women make to guard our safety and preserve our freedom. We invite you to join us as we pray for

the men and women who serve.

Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in you will be glad and forever will shout for joy.

Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the

power of your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever

praise you for your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

FIESTA DE LA FE Iglesia Peregrina

cuyo nombre significa: Dios salva.

How does our parish at tract inquirers each year who consider becoming Catho-

lic? The short answer is you! When any parish has

many inquirers year a er year, it is the fruit of the Holy Spirit as parish members open their hearts to

welcome others. Members of a welcoming and evangelizing community take seriously their call to share the message to “Go out into the whole world

and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) It happens in parish families, in the workplace, in

Preparing your family to celebrate Mass MASS TRANSIT CARD November 29, 2020

“What I say to you I say to all: ‘Watch!’” —Mark 13:37

Whenever something exciting is coming in our lives, we wait for it with great anticipation. If it is a birthday or a

holiday, there is a lot to do to prepare for it. We put all our energy into the

preparations without hesitation because we know how much fun it will be when

the day comes. Today’s scripture reminds us to prepare ourselves with this same excitement and anticipation for Christ’s coming. Since it is the season of Advent,

we are preparing to celebrate Christ’s birth. But we are also called to be

prepared every day of our lives. Jesus wants us to be ready to meet him any

day, any time, anywhere.

Dear Lord, show me how I can best prepare my heart and mind to meet you whenever

you come. An Advent wreath helps us count the four

weeks of preparation for Christ’s birth. Does your family have an Advent wreath or another

Advent tradi on that helps you?

PARTNERS IN FAITH Open the gi s of Advent

It’s hard to compete with the breathless excitement of Christmas but Advent has a beauty all its own. When fami-lies step out of the busy pace of life during Advent, the Christmas celebration at the end becomes all the more heartfelt. Create rituals. Life is to be different during Advent – quiet-er, more reflective – and rituals can help. Light a candle every day in an Advent wreath. Gather to read some of the Nativity story (Luke 1:5-2:40), drawing it out until Christmas. For an hour each night, turn off the lights in your home and work by candle light. Make small sacrifices. The holidays can herald a season of excess. Instead, create a “Sacrifice Stocking” for Jesus. Encourage each child to make small sacrifices – foregoing dessert, performing an unasked chore, befriending a lonely classmate. Write each sacrifice on a slip of paper and place it in a Christmas stocking in the four weeks before Advent. On Christmas morning, read each “gift” in the stocking offered to the Babe as the first gifts of Christmas. Let music make the mood. The right music can help create a quiet mood during the season. Pick a time each day to play only spiritual and religious carols. Choose songs that tell of God’s love for us. Or, make up new words to your old favorites.

A Great Tradi on for Kids! Making Small Sacrifices for the Baby Jesus During Advent Advent is known as “little Lent,” and prayer, alms, and sacri ces are an important part of the liturgical season as we prepare for the coming of Christ. To help children participate in the true purpose of Advent (rather than the temptation to treat it sel shly as a countdown to getting their presents on Christmas day), a visual teaching aid can be very helpful.

One of the popular ways to help children understand the meaning of Christmas is to encourage them to thoughtfully make small offerings for the Baby Jesus throughout the days and weeks of Advent. These offerings can be a small sacri ce, a good deed, a kind word, or a prayer.

Join in this tradition using the Baby Jesus gure either from your nativity set (which may be a little too small depending on the size) or opt for a larger solitary nativity creche with a Baby Jesus gure that you can nd here. Place the creche in a prominent place in the home, perhaps next to your Advent wreath, and encourage children to make their spiritual gifts out of love for the Baby Jesus each day leading up to Christmas. For each small sacri ce or good deed done by a child during Advent, a piece of straw (or something that comparable that you can purchase at a craft store) is added into the manger or creche. On Christmas day the Baby Jesus gure is placed inside the creche, and the prayers and sacri ces symbolized by the pieces of straw have added up to prepare a comfortable place for him to rest, just like Mary and Joseph prepared for him in the manger at Bethlehem by Gretchen Filz, November 1, 2016
