Minutes of Previous Governing Body Meeting



1. The Governing Body Meeting commenced at 11:30 AM with Mrs. S. Malarvizhi, the

Chairperson and Managing Trustee in the chair.

2. The Chairperson welcomed the members of Governing Body.

3. Mr.K.Raghavendra, Mr. S. Durairaj and Dr. P. Kolandaivel expressed their inability to attend

the meeting and requested for Leave of Absence and it has been recorded.

4. The Minutes of the previous Governing Body Meeting held on 18th

October, 2014 was

reviewed. It was suggested that the minutes of previous Governing Body may be included in

the report. The proposal was accepted by all the members and minutes were then approved.

5. Sub : Appointment of Principal for Sri Krishna Arts and Science College.

The Chairperson and Managing Trustee Mrs. S. Malarvizhi informed the members the

need to appoint a Principal in lieu of the vacancy arose as Dr.K.Sundararaman M.Com.,

M.Phil., Ph.D. is promoted and appointed as CEO of Sri Krishna Institutions. Applications

were called from Internal qualified candidates. Dr. P. Baba Gnanakumar alone applied. A

Selection Committee was formed to select the Principal. The Selection Committee considering

the qualification, eligibility, experience and recommended Dr. P. Baba Gnanakumar M.Com.,

M.Phil., Ph.D. for the post of Principal. Sri. P.R. Krishnakumar moved that Dr. P. Baba

Gnanakumar M.Com., M.Phil., Ph.D. be appointed as Principal. This was seconded by Dr. S.

Subramaniam.

After discussion the Governing Body Members considered the same and unanimously passed

the resolution.

RESOLVED that Dr. P. Baba Gnanakumar M.Com., M.Phil., Ph.D., be appointed as Principal

for Sri Krishna Arts and Science College and to get the qualification approval from Bharathiar

University.



6. Sub : Report by Principal (i/c)

The Principal (i/c) presented the report on activities during the last eight months. The report

includes

October 2014 to May 2015 were presented and they were approved.

f. The details of the papers presented in various National and International Conferences

and Seminars by the faculty and students.

g. The Report on Achievements of games & sports during this period was mentioned.

h. The Results of April/May 2015 Examination under Autonomous was presented to the

Body for Approval. The members appreciated and approved the results.

i. The College has implemented Google Apps for effective Academic, Administration

and Examination related activities. Members appreciated the effort taken on

E- Administration which will reduce the usage of paper.

j. The Number of faculty appointments - 68 and resignations - 37. The appointments and

resignations were ratified.

7. A MoU has been signed with UTL Technologies, Bangalore. The Company offers high level

Education, Skill Development and R&D Services in the fields of Telecom, Networking,

Embedded Systems, VLSI and IT for the benefit of Faculty and Students.

8. The Self-Study Report on Reaccreditation has been submitted to NAAC on October 2014

and NAAC - Date of visit to the Institution is yet to receive.

9. The next Governing Body Meeting will be held as per UGC norms in October 2015.

10. The meeting came to a close with the Vote of Thanks by Secretary.

ATTAINMENTS

JUNE - OCTOBER 2015

Interactive Boards were installed in class rooms.

Introduction of Edutainment - Smart teaching has been organized for 28 classes during the

period.

72 outreach programmes were conducted along with the social responsibility.

Google Class rooms. For 615 courses Google Class rooms have been introduced.

118 Google blogs were created.

1253 files and 44,326 links were uploaded in Myklassroom.com (An online learning

platform) by the faculty members.

Campus has been connected by CUG with Aircel network.

53 Industrialists from India and eight educationalists from abroad interacted with the

students.

The last batch of the Bharathiar University Students (M.Sc. SS) received four university

ranks.

489 students were trained by Industries.

74 research articles were published.

278 presentations were done by faculty and students. Out of that, two presentations were

done in abroad.

Volley ball team and Basket Ball team won the University level tournament.

Two faculty members were qualified with NET of UGC. Three faculty members received

Ph.D and six members got M.Phil degree.

I take immense pleasure in presenting the report of activities of the College for the period

June 2015 – October 2015. Sri Krishna Arts and Science College was established in the year

1997 by the VLB Trust which was founded by the esteemed Industrialist and Philanthropist

late Sri. V.L.Balakrishna Naidu in the year 1980 with the aim to impart quality education is

focusing on the rural population. “Knowledge, Love and Service” is the motto of our College.

College has been granted Autonomous status by the University Grants Commission on

January 2010. Knowledge kindles new vistas of creative intelligence. Knowledge is a divine

spark which goes on increasing. The more we give the more we get. The students of Sri

Krishna Arts and Science College are taught to be humane, co-operative, compassionate and

kind. We give importance to infusion of knowledge, character-building and man-making

through which, I believe, the students can achieve perfection.

At present the College is offering 23 UG programmes, 11 PG programmes, one five year

integrated programme, M.Phil programmes in Tamil, Electronics, Commerce and Computer

Science, Ph.D programme in Commerce, Electronics and Tamil. These programmes are job-

oriented which would enable youngsters to succeed in new and challenging fields such as

Computer Science, Business Management, Commerce, Electronics, Costume Design,

Biotechnology, Microbiology, Hotel Management and Social work.

Chairman informed that an NCC Unit of

medical work has to be allotted to the

college. NCC Unit will start functioning

from July 2015.

30.06.2015 The details of the Tutor-ward meetings

conducted fortnightly were submitted before

the committee by the Chairman. The

committee members reviewed and approved

it.

The additional requirements for the academic

year 2015-16 were submitted to the

committee for approval. The member

resolved to approve it.

submit their books/periodicals/CDs/ DVDs

requisition for the even semester.

Proposal for 2 computers to be used by

Approval for book bank scheme based on

compliment copy of books received from

13. Initiative towards Faculty Development Programme

The College has been continuously guiding the faculty members to participate in Faculty

Development Programme, Management Development Programme, and Research

Conferences etc. Sixty five faculty members participated in various Faculty Development

Programmes. Students are motivated to participate in Corporate Training Programmes

organized by Institutions like Bombay Stock Exchange, TCS etc.

Joshna of M.Sc (SS) Secured First Rank in the Bharathiar University Examinations.

Reshma V. G Secured Third Rank , Shruthi C, Sixth Rank , Ramesh G, Seventh Rank in

the Bharathiar University Examinations held during April 2015.

Venkatesh Prabhu of III B.Sc (CS) ‘A’ has been Trained by Vencobb for Skill base

Training in Poultry and he got selected for further study at London Metropolitan

University, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Warwick, UK.

489 Students are undergoing Industrial Exposure Training and ten students undergone

their training in Dubai.

Students were trained in BSE, RBI, Cochin Port trust, Karnataka Sandals, FACT, BHEL,

Vishnu Forge, ITI Ltd, Water melon ltd, Dr.Reddys Ltd, Ashok Leyland, MRF, Arvind

Tech, Sugarcane institute, Bio-research Institute and Industrial estate in Kerala

BBA CA students are undergone training with BEC (British English Council) and

Communication Skills development for Clayton State University.



Pre-placement training was completed for all final year UG students.

Malaravan of II B. Sc (CS) ‘B’ participated in the workshop on Cloud Computing jointly

organized by SKCT and IIT, Delhi on 27.07.2015.

Manoj Kumar, S. Praveen, S.C. Sarveswaran, K. Sivaramakrishnan& K. Varun of II MIB,

have participated One day Awareness Programme on International Trade 28.07.2015

organized by Federation of Indian Export Organisations& Salem Productivity Council,

Salem.

Yuvaraj . V of II B.Com (CA) ‘A’ has attended Tenth Annual International Conference on

Public Policy and Management from 03.08.2015 to 05.08.2015 held at the Indian Institute

of Management (IIM), Bangalore.

Aravindan.V, Arunkumar. V & Pankajsharma. R of II M.Com (IB) have attended national

Level workshop on Digital Marketing on 06.08.2015 & 07.08.2015 held at the Indian

Institute of Management (IIM), Kolkata and Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College,

Coimbatore.

Vasanth.G, Abilash.S, Cokul Ranjith.B and Balamurugan.A of II B.Sc ECS students have

won first place in the event “MIME SHOW” held on 12.08.2015 organized by Department

of BCA and M.Sc SS, SKASC, Coimbatore.

Eleven students of Computer Science and Five Students of B.Sc (SS), Nine students of

CSA attended CCNA workshop held at SKCET on 14.08.2015.

Thirty Students of II and III B.Sc. Microbiology have participated in events like paper

presentation, poster presentation, quiz and JAM in National level conference – “VIII Louis

pasteur memorial symposium on causative and curatives of infectious diseases- CCID

2015” organized by PG and Research Department of Microbiology, Dr.N.G.P college of

Arts and Science, Coimbatore on 19.08.2015.



Priyadarshini.B of III B.Sc (MB) won first Prize, Bharani Devi. T of III B.Sc (MB) won

second Prize and Manjula. R of III B.Sc (MB) won third Prize in Paper presentation in

in Tamilnadu State level Athletic competition organized by Thiruvarur District Athletic

Association from 24.07.2015 to 26.07.2015 at Kumbakonam and he is selected south

national level Athletic competition to be held from 20.09.2015 to 23.09.2015 at

Vijayawada.

Ganesh Kumar of II B.Sc. IT won first prize under State level Badminton,Coimbatore

District Athletic Association has conducted the Coimbatore District Athletic Meet 2015 in

July 2015.

Sakthivel. R of III M.Sc. SS won Gold Medal in Bharathiar University Men’s Boxing

Championship held at Rathinam College on 12.08.2015 and 13.08.2015.

SKASC team is the runners in Bharathiar University Badminton Tournament held on

17.08.2015.

The Coimbatore District Athletics Championship 2015 was won by SKASC team

25.08.2015.



N.Senthil kumar, D.Boopesh and Vishnu of SKASC are qualified for All India Athletics

Championship.

Volley Ball team of SKASC Placed third in Loyola Betram Trophy.

SKASC Students ranked fourth in cross-country Bharathiar University Intr-collegiate

Tournament.

Manikandan of B.Sc(IT) won gold medal in Light Fly Boxing and Sakthivel. R of III

M.Sc. SS won Gold Medal in light weight boxing in Bharathiar University intercollegiate

Tournament held at Bharathiyar University.

R.Kanchana of II B.Com (PA) won the finals in throw ball conducted by Isha yoga in the

name of “Isha gramotsavam” at codissia and received the shield, certificate and cash

prize of 25000/- from Sachin Tendulkar on 04.09.2015. J. Sanjay Durai, Dhana Sekar. V, Kalyana Sundaram. P and Majith ImranKhan. A got

selected for Coimbatore District Basket Ball Tournament.

Cricket Team Won runners trophy in Bharathiar University Inter Collegiate Tournament

held on 08.09.2015.

SKASC ranked Third in Junior state level Basket Ball Tournament and Kalyana Sundaram

of II B.Sc (CS) got selected for Junior Tamilnadu Basket Ball Team.

Basket Ball Team won Karunya Trophy on 27.09.2015.

medal, Aswin raj won gold medal in Discuss throw, Koteswari won bronze medal in 100

won bronze medal in 4*400mts relay.
