Principal’s Message Welcome to Nalanda College of Engineering (NCE). Our aim is

to provide you the best quality education. In fact, the education

is hidden in the student itself, we just encourage them to explore

and enjoy the learning.

Increasing diversity in needs and globalization have generated

and enhanced the demand for competitive skills. So, the main

purpose of Nalanda College of Engineering (NCE) is to provide

such a platform where the needs can be fulfilled. Nalanda

College of Engineering (NCE) motivates the students to develop

leadership skills. We encourage them to trust in themselves and

achieve great heights. In-fact, they can do everything if they

believe in their abilities.

Since its inception, NCE Chandi has a vision to provide quality

technical education and to act as a Centre of excellence for

engineering and scientific research. NCE, Chandi is now

considered as one of the best institutes in Bihar in terms of

quality teaching, infrastructure and overall performance.

Message from Mentor Institute (IIT BOMBAY) Nalanda College of Engineering (NCE), Chandi, Bihar is twinned

with IIT Bombay in TEQIP-III and we, at IIT Bombay are working

with NCE to help build the Institution on all fronts. We seek the

growth and progress of NCE in its academic programmers’ in its

research and development activities, in its arrangements and set-up

for all round student growth, training and placement and in

establishing a culture of excellence and commitment, at NCE

Chandi.

1. Institute’s basic information

About Us

Nalanda College of engineering (NCE, Chandi) is one of the best new engineering colleges established by the

government of Bihar under the department of science and technology.

This institute was established in 2008 for imparting engineering and technical in Bihar, located at Chandi,

Nalanda the famous place of Lord Buddha and Nalanda University.

It is imparting high quality education and the value system at UG (B.Tech.) level through its experienced faculty

members well versed in their respective field of engineering and technology and well equipped laboratories.

We have an Academic Block, Workshops, and separate hostels for Girls and Boys, and on campus Residence

of the Principal.

We offer Bachelor of Technology in the following disciplines

• Electrical and Electronics Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering

2. Information regarding affiliating university

Aryabhatta Knowledge University Act 2008 provides for the establishment of University at Patna to

conduct and facilitate affiliation of institutions in the conventional as well new frontiers of professional

education. All colleges and institutions imparting professional education for example Engineering and

Technology including information Technology, Nano technology & Biotechnology, Management,

Medicine, Health technology, Public Health Pharmacy, Optometry, Nursing, Education, Law etc. is to be

affiliated to this university.

Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU), Patna has been established by Government of Bihar for the

development and management of educational infrastructure related to technical, medical, management and

allied professional education in the state. The objective of the university is to promote the professional

Facilities & Services

a) Computer Center

Nalanda College of Engineering, Chandi has a well-equipped computer Lab to cater to the needs of students

and faculty in the College. It is housed, in a magnificent state-of-the-art building having specialized

laboratories to provide a variety of platforms and computing environment for UG students’ computer centre

presently has around 180 computers connected into LAN in two floors providing internet access and

programming facilities to all software related laboratories of all the departments of the college.

b) Central Library

More than 11000 books covering almost all areas of different department and more than 36 Journal

collections. Every department has newsletter e-publication covering up the activities of every department

and one college newsletter every month. Library @NCE Chandi has been divided into 3 sections: Lending

section, Reading section and Reference section. Every department has its own departmental library loaded

with collection of books related to its specializations, soft version of project report of students and CDs of

online course contents.

c) Hostel & Mess

NCE provides state of the art hostel facility for its students. There are total two hostels including a newly

built girls’ hostel. All the hostels are well maintained and are equipped with all the modern facilities like

telephones, colour television, common rooms, ward servants, in-house games room and canteens. With the

intake of about 200 students, the total strength of students in the in campus is 850. Both hostels are located

within the campus. There are single seated rooms which are normally allocated to final year and pre-final

year boarders. Multi-seated accommodations constitute 2-seated & 3-Seated rooms which are allotted to

the students of 1st & 2nd year.

d) WI-FI

NCE Chandi is well connected from its ISP (Internet Service Provider) and Internet facility is provided in

whole campus, labs and hostels using wired and Wi-Fi techniques. The computer centre operates

unremitting Wi-Fi Service for students for hassle free learning experience. It has broadband internet

connectivity round the clock. Recently, another breed of 90 latest PCs have been installed in computer

centre. These are used mainly for learning various programming languages and research work.

e) Sports Facility

There is a sports club in the college. This society has been functioning in full swing right from 2008 and

college has provided many facilities to students for playing Cricket, Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball,

Basketball, football and other in-door games. The sports ground and various fields are well maintained.

Annual sports are regularly organized in the college campus. Students keenly participate in various sports

competitions and win awards.

7. Department’s profile with infrastructure & facilities

We have five departments, Civil, Mechanical, EEE, CSE and Department of Applied Science.

a) Department of Computer Science & Engineering

The field of Computer Science and Engineering nowadays has become one of the most demandable branch

amongst the aspiring engineers. We have a goal to provide an outstanding learning environment

complemented by excellence in teaching. The Department is moving ahead to build technical platform to

students by spreading awareness of technologies, transferring of the knowledge, sharpening the obtained

knowledge, and exposing students to solve real time problems. Laboratories are fully equipped with latest

computers and are supported by high speed Internet connection. Job opportunities are available both in

private and public sectors for a graduate of this discipline. Subjects of further research include Artificial

Intelligence especially Neural Network and Machine Learning and many more

b) Electrical and Electronics Engineering

This is a new branch which provides integration of Electrical and Electronics engineering. The major thrust

in this course is related to the basic principles and detailed analysis of equipment’s and systems for

generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy. The department is committed to

engage in high quality research and pursuit of excellence in teaching. The faculty members of the department

are actively involved in research and development in challenging areas of both theory and experiment. The

labs established here have been well equipped with the latest equipment. Instructional laboratories for Basic

Electronics, Analog Electronics and Digital Electronics are fully operational.

To provide an excellence platform for students to take off their career as a qualified electrical & electronics

engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs & innovators there by inculcate students, the value of knowledge-

based economy and moral valued society.

c) Civil Engineering

The field of civil engineering is developing steadily in recent years as we have now realized the importance of

infrastructure development. If one has a crave for structural design, planning and construction, then this is the

course to be explored. It includes study in the areas of Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural

Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Irrigation & Water Resource Engineering and many more. The

department aims to provide better education in the field of Civil Engineering to meet the ever growing

construction industry and is dedicated to maintain highest quality in teaching both theoretically and practically

and also train the young engineers equipped with latest knowledge in the field of Civil Engineering by providing

conductive teaching environment in the classrooms followed by practical training in the relevant laboratory to

have hands on experience on the concerned topic

d) Mechanical Engineering

The branch of Mechanical Engineering is considered to be one of the oldest and broadest engineering discipline.

The scope of the course varies from material research to machinery development, Nano Technology, Smart

materials, Aerospace Technology, FMS, Automation and such other interrelated developments. Ample job

opportunities are open for Mechanical Engineers in Aerospace, Automotive and Manufacturing sectors apart

from research establishments. The areas of study include Manufacturing processes, Mechatronics, Heat and

Mass Transfer, Tool Engineering and Design, Design of machine elements, CIM and Robotic. We aim to bridge

the gap between industry and educational institution, and for this we have qualified faculties and labs with

modern testing machines and equipment’s to cope up with advanced technologies.

To be the centre of excellence in the field of Mechanical Engineering in the state, where, the budding graduates

should have sound technical knowledge and entrepreneurship skills to cater the needs of industry and social

e) Department of Applied Science Apart from the engineering departments, Nalanda College of Engineering Chandi has separate

supporting departments which are physics, chemistry and mathematics. There is a separate

lab for science departments in the institute and this constitute of well qualified teachers and well

equipped laboratories for physics and chemistry. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is taught

to the students of Engineering streams in their first and second years.

8. Information regarding NBA accreditation: Accredited & Applied for

NCE Chandi has uploaded SAR of all the four programs offered by the institute. The NBA Team visit is

expected in August-September 2019.

27. Curricular achievement & Co-curricular achievement

NCE Chandi has been awarded with Notable Mentions Award in Bihar for remarkable

efforts in helping their students secure internships on Internship day ceremony on 25

August 2018 in New Delhi which was conducted by AICTE and Intershala.

Achieved the 1st position in Bihar under TEQIP III based of the performance Audit score.

NCE has established the Institute innovation council (IIC) as per the norms of Innovation Cell,

Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and received certificate.

The internal revenue is generated through the admission fees. In the year 2019-20, the total

number of students who took admission is 260 and the fee is 2500 per student. So, the total

revenue generated amount is 650000.
