Very nice
I've made a few of these recently for the people on the UK Bushcraft Site so they can do theinitial grind on a blank

You just clamp the blade in and alter the base bolts to set the grinding angle
Also something similar to a Spyderco (you just keep the blade sharpener horizontal though)

Re: DIY Sharpening Jig
Here's a few more pics. First shows knife in place, jig is used in exactly the same way as someof the commercial units. Two and three show rod end adjusted (clamp screw is at the back) toalter grind angle. I have several spare rod ends (couple of quid each on ebay - I use M6) soonce I've worked out what angles I want I'll make up a couple of complete rods to the correctlength to give a specific angle. Last pic shows jig in bits.

Stones are 150 x 13 x 6 and range from 150 to 600 grit available from Cromwell tools.

Yes, does the whole blade. Depends on the stones used - oil or water. You could make a mountto use any size/type of stones or use diamond ones if you want. I plan to make an alloy plate touse very fine abrasive paper for final finishing. You could even mount a leather strop if youwanted as long as you only pull it over the blade.

Re: DIY Sharpening Jig
sorry, never sharpened anything except on an oil stone with 3-in-1. so a bit unsure about waterstones, i know you get a lot finer finish with water stones, but no idea how you use them, myunderstanding is you soak up water with them... but unsure if u can use them freehand ie out ofwater....

Re: DIY Sharpening Jig
A couple more pics and some dimensions. Top picture shows the angle of the "table" - about 25degrees. Bottom one is another pic of some of the bits.
The table is about 220mm long 76mm wide and about 25mm thick. The 6mm dia guide rods are430mm long. The stone clamps are made from plastic but could be alloy or even wood.

Re: DIY Sharpening Jig
The "Pivoty" thing is a 6mm Rod End:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mm-FEMALE...#ht_500wt_1156
I put a M6 thread on the end of a small piece of10mm stainless bar, this then screws into the RodEnd. The 10mm end of the assembly then slides upand down in the large alloy mounting fitted into thetable.
