Installation Instructions Issue Date October 2006 DCP- 45 Series Electric Non-Spring Return Actuators Application Actuators to be easily installed by direct shaft mounting on Valves and dampers inventilation and air conditioning systems. Can be controlled by any compatible electricor electronic analog controller DDC/PLC control or automation system. The actuators should be mounted indoors in a dry environment, relatively free from corrosive fumes. Safety Warnings Always read the controller installation instructions before making any connection.The actuators are not suitable for use in explosive atmospheric applications. Allservice to the actuators (mounting, electrical connection, retrofitting and repair) must be carried out with the power supply disconnected. The electrical connection must be done by a trained and competent person considering the wiring diagrams, local and national regulations. Use copper twisted conductors only. Provide disconnect and overload protection if necessary. Actuators may only be operatedby 24 VAC/VDC. The transformer must be sized according to technical data of the actuator (see section 'versions'). Electronics and controllers must be powered from a separate transformer when controller power is full-wave rectified. Otherwise the controller or the actuator may be damaged. · Prepare the actuator as shown in (figure 1) · Turn the damper until the blades are closed · Disengage the gears by pressing the red button and rotate the clamp until the switching position indication shows 90° · Tighten the nuts on the clamp with 4 - 6 ft-lb (figure 3 - A) Mounting Mounting of V-bolt clamp. Direct mounting with V-bolt clamp to the damper shaft (figure 3) and fixing with enclosed anti-rotation mounting pin (figure 4). Break off the pin from the actuator housing. Shaft: Round 5/16” - 5/8” or Square 5/16” to 5/32” · Prepare the actuator as shown in (figure 2) · Turn the damper until the blades are closed · Disengage the gears by pressing the red button and rotate until the switching position indication shows 90° (figure 5) · Tighten the screws with 4 - 6 ft-lb (figure 6) Mounting of Form Lock Direct mounting with form lock insert to the damper shaft (figure 5) and fixing the actuator with screws (figure 4). Starting the teach-in procedure for proportional control This function

allows the adjustment of the totally controlled angle of

rotation. The functionality is guaranteed for total angels above 30°.

1. Adjust the angles of rotations as described

2. Switch DIP 4 from OFF to ON

3. The teach-in procedure starts and the actuator travels from one

to the other end stops as adjusted

4. The teach-in is finished successfully

5. Switch the DIP 4 back from ON to OFF

6. The control signal Y is now matched to the new angles. You can

now remove the end-stops if necessary.

Adjustment of the angle of rotation Both end stops are adjusted to0°and 90°. For smaller rotation angles, loosen the screws (number1 in figure 11) at the metal end stop, adjust the end stops asrequired, and fasten the screws again.

Adjustment of the rotation direction for On/Off+Tri-state controlThe actuator is adjusted to clockwise direction by the factory--> "R". To change the direction of rotation, turn the adjustmentknob (figure 12) to "L".

Adjustment of the rotation direction for proportional control The actuator is adjusted to clockwise direction by the factory.The direction of rotation can be changed with the DIP-switches(figure 13).

Adjustment of input signal mode for proportional controlThe mode of the input signal can be chosen with DIP-switches(figure 13) set according to the following table.

Adjustment of the Auxiliary Switch (-A Models)The actuator allows the setting of two independent auxiliary switches.The switch S1 is adjusted by using a screw driver on the inner knob. The switch S2 is adjusted by pushing the outer ring and setting to the desired position. The scale at the adjustment knobs (figure 14) corresponds to a percentage graduation, related to 0° to 90°. Drive is placed at 0 (0°) on the end stop. Turn the adjustment knob from 0 to the right until the tip indicates the required switching position. For example, 2 = 20% of the angle of rotation. Drive turns to the right and the switch switches at 20% of the angle of rotation (operating position S1 1-3). The setting of S2 is identical.

Drive is placed at 0° on the end stop (figure 14A) Turn the adjustment knob from 0 to the right until the tip indicates the required switching position. For example, 2 = 20% of the angle of rotation. Drive turns to the rightand the switch switches at 20% of the angle of rotation (operating position S1 1-3 / S2 1-3).

Drive at operating position (figure 14B) Press the override button and turn the drive to the required operating position, for example, 20% of the angle of rotation. Turn the adjustment knob to 0 and pass with the tip slightly. As a result, 20% of the angle of rotation is adjusted (operating position S1 1-3 / S2 1-3).

Drive is placed at "1" on the end stop (figure 14C) Turn the adjustment knob from 1 to the left until the tip indicates the required switching position. For example, 8 = 20% of the angle of rotation. Drive turns to the leftand the switch switches at 20% of the angle of rotation (operating position S1 1-3 / S2 1/3).

Drive at operating position (figure 14D) Press the override button and turn the drive in the required operating position, for example, 20% of the angle of rotation. Turn the adjustment knob to 1 and pass with the tip slightly. As a result, 20% of the angle of rotation is adjusted (operating position S11-3/ S2 1-3).
