12th September 2019 Edition: 14 PRINCIPAL NEWS Heidis Super Hero Day Last Wednesday we held the annual Heidis Super Hero Day with many of our students and teachers dressed as their Super Hero. Thank you to all the adults and students who participated in the day as well as the Super Heroes on Scooters who visited our school in the afternoon. We were very lucky with the rain holding off for their very noisy arrival. The day allowed for much fun and laughter as well as time to reflect on the childrens lives, very close to us, that have been lost or touched by childhood cancer. The staff and students contributed $963 toward cancer research for children. The money was given to the Scooter riders to add to their ever increasing funds. Congratulations to Miss Hall and the student leaders for another well organised fundraising event. Open Night Our open night for 2019 will be held on Wednesday the 18 th of September. Classrooms will be open from 4pm until 6pm. Mr Robinson will have some of the school band members performing in the undercover area should you wish to hear the fantastic work they are doing in music. Our P & C will be running a Sausage Sizzle near the Canteen. All gates will be open so please take the time come and view some of the fabulous work on display in classrooms. Athletics Carnivals Our Athletics carnivals will be held early in Term 4. The relevant dates are: Year 1 – Year 3 – Friday the 18 th October (am only) Year 4 – Year 6 – Friday the 25 th October (all day) Interschool athletes will be chosen from the senior carnival to represent Dalyellup Primary School. Whole school canteen menus and further information will be sent out closer to the date of the carnivals. In Term Swimming Lessons Our Pre-Primary and Year 1 students were due to participate in swimming lessons week 3 and 4 next term. The South West Sport Centre have advised us that they are undertaking major work on the shallow pools in the centre around this time. I have consulted with the pool staff and lead swimming instructor and feel that using the 50m pool for our youngest students would be detrimental to their first experience of In Term Swimming. We have decided to cancel the proposed lessons for 2019 but will plan to have the students participate in In Term Swimming in 2020. The option of Vacation Swimming Lessons is available for anyone interested over the Christmas Vacation period. Patricia Anderson Principal DALYELLUP PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER

KINDY ENROLMENTS 2020

Have you enrolled your Kindy 2020 Students ready for next year?

If not, collect an Enrolment Folder from the school office and return it as soon as you can. You will need to provide a copy of the students Birth

Certificate, up to date Immunisations and proof of address for our catchment.

ROOM 3 FATHERS DAY CREATIONS

Just in time for Father’s Day, Room 3 Year 1 students had the opportunity to hammer, clue, and build their own tool boxes for Dad thanks to the wonderful Bec from Bunnings. A fun filled morning was had, without any injuries, but lots

of happy, proud faces!

When going into a crowded or unfamiliar place, have an emergency plan in case your child becomes separated or lost. Talk about who

would be the best adult to speak to when needing assistance; a police officer, security guard, a lady with a pram, a shopkeeper.

Courtesy Charlie

Courtesy is a way of acting with people that make them feel valued, cared for and respected.

You can be courteous by:

Being polite

Being considerate of others

Having good manners

Treating others how you would like to be treated

People like to be around courteous people

PBS & VIRTUES

Listen to Adults

Let others learn It is important that we respect the rights of everyone in our classroom by acting with consideration in a way which allows other students to learn. Please remember to:

Be ready to learn

Listen to your teacher and classmates

Follow instructions

Raise your hand to speak

Stay on task

Work quietly

Work hard

Control your impulses

STAFF PARKING BAYS

Just a friendly reminder that the numbered bays in the car park are for staff only. Please refrain from parking in these bays to ensure staff make it on time into their classrooms ready to teach our students. Parking is an issue at all schools which we understand, but parking in staff parking bays cannot happen. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Kindy Fathers Day Fun On Thursday 29th and Friday 30th August the children in ECE 4 invited their Dads, Pops, Grandads, Uncles or a special visitor to celebrate Father’s Day with them at school. There were many fun activities to be had. Children sang a song titled ‘Daddy, Daddy, We Love You”, and everyone made and enjoyed fairy bread, shared Dad/Pop/Grandad stories and made and flew their very own kite. Some children also tried their magic to make Dad’s whiskers disappear. As can be seen in the photos, our visitors had as much fun, if not more than the children. Thankyou to all who came and shared this special occasion, those memories will last forever.

Super Kids Super Heros

On the 4th of September the school held our third annual Heidi’s Superhero Day. The day began with a parade around the school oval, where students and staff showed off their heroic costumes.

After lunch we were visited by the team of superheroes on scooters from Superkids Superheroes. They entertained us with their scooter skills, and we were honoured to be able to present them the money we raised, from the free dress day and staff morning tea, totalling $963.

It was a fantastic day supporting an important cause, close to our hearts, with all money going to The Kids Cancer Project.
