Del Mar College Counselor Update2

Dear Coastal Bend High School Counselor,Why encourage your students to consider Del Mar College? Small classes, individual attention, affordable tuition, outstanding faculty, just to name a few of our advantages. Let me share some details.

Quality Programs• — We offer more than 125 programs ranging from liberal arts to echocardiography, aviation technology to mechanical engineering, law enforcement to digital media. The District recently invested more than $135 million to build and equip classrooms and specialized learning laboratories to promote student success.

Individual Attention• — Faculty ensure that your graduates have the best opportunity to prepare to earn a living wage or transfer for a bachelor’s degree. The average class size is 22 students. I recently added two new deans to the College’s staff to concentrate on Student Outreach and Enrollment Services and Student Engagement and Retention.

Outstanding Instruction• — Del Mar has more Piper Professors for Outstanding Classroom Teaching than any other community college in the state. Our credit programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, meaning courses applicable to bachelor’s degrees transfer easily.

National Recognition • — Del Mar College ranks in the top 2% of community colleges in the country for graduating Hispanic students with associate degrees.

Affordable Costs• — Students living in the Del Mar College District pay only $1,095 per semester for a full course load. The District includes Calallen, Corpus Christi, Flour Bluff, Tuloso-Midway and West Oso Independent School Districts. Del Mar distributed more than $30 million in financial aid and scholarships last year to eligible students.

If you need more information before encouraging your students to pursue their dreams at Del Mar College, please contact me at (361) 698-1203.

Sincerely,

Mark Escamilla, Ph.D.President
