How to Make a Kindness Bucket

You will create a visual representation of a kindness bucket inspired bythe book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? By Carol McCloud

Clean and dry out your carton

Cut the 4 sides of the juice carton down halfway

Fold the sides of the carton down into the carton to create a fold. Put the sides back up and cut

along the fold to create a cube without a top. Once you have your carton cut you can place it

aside for later use.

Place your carton on top of the construction paper and trace the outline of your carton onto the

construction paper.

Cut the outline of your carton using scissors (you should have 4 equal squares to cover the sides

of your box.)

Using glue or tape, attach the pieces of construction paper to the sides of your carton. (If you use

glue, then set the carton aside to allow for the glue to dry.)

Using the other piece of paper, cut out a handle for your bucket and attach it along the side of

your bucket (it is easier to tape the handle the inside of your bucket).

Once your bucket is created, you can decorate it and begin to fill up your bucket with kind acts.

Kindness Bucket Extensions:· Parents and children can use their buckets to keep track of kind acts that they do for

themselves and others. Parents can notice kind or positive acts that their children do and write them

down and place them in their child’s bucket.

· Parents and children can make a commitment to do a kind act.
