August 10, 2015 Dear Members and Friends, There is something very reassuring about the arrival of the Yamin Noraim. We spend a good part of the summer mourning the loss of the ultimate Jewish community - one centered around the Bais HaMikdash, the Holy Temple in Yerushalayim. This spirit is somber, our togetherness bittersweet. Following that, many of us go on summer vacations and so the shul is often less full than usual, with some familiar faces out of the scene. When the High Holidays come in, we reunite as a broad Kehilla and we pray together robustly for HaShem's forgiveness and kindness. We are a full family again, looking ahead optimistically to the New Year. I invite each of you, valued members of the Ohav Emeth family, to complete the enclosed High Holiday seating reservation form and mail it to the shul office. To reserve a space for you and your loved ones, we must hear from you by September 1st. However, with the office being closed the week of August 23rd, the favor of an early reply, by August 21st, would be most appreciated. Payments can be made by check or by PayPal, through our shul's website (ohavemeth.org) under the "Donate" tab. Reservations are required for both the Hashkama Minyan and the Main Minyan. Babysitting will be available on Yom Kippur morning, for children ages 2-10, on a limited capacity to those who pre-register for it. Forms for babysitting will be available separately. All requests for seating or Yom Kippur babysitting received after the deadline of September 1st will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. PLEASE NOTE: To receive member rates for seating reservations, all prior year balances on dues or pledges must be paid in full. Please speak with Rabbi Kaufman or me privately, to discuss financial hardship. Ohav Emeth does not deny High Holiday seating due to financial limitations. We appreciate your prompt submission of seating reservation forms, as it allows us to anticipate and accommodate as many requests as possible. We use the seating fees to support the maintenance of our shul and the growing number of services, events, and activities we offer. Thank you for being part of the Ohav Emeth community. May you, your loved ones, and all of Klal Israel be inscribed for a sweet New Year. Sincerely, Jeremy Safran President, Congregation Ohav Emeth
