The Eighth Annual International Conference on the Real Estate Market in Croatia was held on April 17 & 18, 2012 at The Regent Esplanade Hotel Zagreb.

At the Conference there were more than 500 participants from 15 countries: Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Albania, United Kingdom, Montenegro, Poland, Germany, Italy, France, Hungary, Portugal, Spain, Greece and Czech Republic.

Partner Country of the Eighth Conference was United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the biggest and the most influential financial institution in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe by far – the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) – was the Institutional Partner of The Eighth Conference. It was a great honour to collaborate with them and we would like to most kindly thank them for their support!!

great architects, Jim Heverin from Zaha Hadid and Damon Lavelle from Populous, were speaking about the projects they were working on for the Olympic Games Project.

We would especially like to thank the Ministers of Croatian Government who spoke at the Conference, Mr. Radimir Čačić, Principal Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Economy, and Minister of Construction and Physical Planning, Mr. Ivan Vrdoljak.

This year is the year of the Olympic Games in London. From finding the site for the construction of the Olympic Park in 2005 until the completion of the Big Build in 2011, London has undergone

an extraordinary transformation. We would like to highlight the important projects that were discussed at the Conference, which are a Presentation of the planning and construction of London Olympic Games 2012 Project and Regeneration of Urban Centres – London and Liverpool. Two

The introductory speeches were followed by a Presentation of London Olympic Games 2012 Project Planning and Construction, held by architects Jim Heverin, Associate Director, Zaha Hadid Architects and Damon Lavelle, Principal, Populous.

There was also a presentation of the development of a New Shopping & Leisure Centre in Vrbani in Zagreb, held by Jeffrey Sújar Blanco, Development Manager, Sonae Sierra and Igor Hržić, Country Manager, Bluehouse Capital.

Program of The Eighth Conference is the best program so far. It contained the most renowned speakers and institutions that supported The Eighth Conference. It was the most systematic because it included over 20 concrete, known and valuable projects being developed exclusively in Croatia with the total value of more than 10 billion kuna. It was the most professional because some of the top themes that were discussed on The Eighth Conference are Croatia entering EU, Olympic Games in London, Urban regeneration, Green building and a broad variety of other expert and concrete themes.

We would once again like to most sincerely thank everybody who contributed to the Conference success with their participation.
