Conclusion The main aim of the research was to investigate the impact of modern social networking tools on software development employees inside an IT and software development organization, taking Infosys as a case study. The study has made a detailed picture about benefits and risk associated with social networking inside the organization. The scope and impact of several social networking 2.0 tools in SEE (Software Engineering Environment) has made clear in this research and shows that it has made an impact on the efficiency of employees inside the organization. The study also pointed out that social network and 2.0 technologies are seriously becoming an unavoidable part of software developing organization. Since it has a direct link with the efficiency of employees inside the working environment, organizations are looking for more innovative way of incorporating these technologies for the supporting their employees. Lets point out some of the important findings before concluding the study. The study started with a brief evaluation about the use of different technological tools inside the organization which support social interaction. And find out that Infosys is making effective use of most of web 2.0 applications through their social networking or integral work flow management system. Tools like wikis, blogs, forums are proved to be successfully implemented inside the organization for enhancing the abilities

Conclusion

Infosys as a case study. The study has made a detailed picture about benefits and risk associated

with social networking inside the organization. The scope and impact of several social

networking 2.0 tools in SEE (Software Engineering Environment) has made clear in this research

and shows that it has made an impact on the efficiency of employees inside the organization. The

study also pointed out that social network and 2.0 technologies are seriously becoming an

unavoidable part of software developing organization. Since it has a direct link with the

efficiency of employees inside the working environment, organizations are looking for more

innovative way of incorporating these technologies for the supporting their employees. Lets

point out some of the important findings before concluding the study.

The study started with a brief evaluation about the use of different technological tools inside the

organization which support social interaction. And find out that Infosys is making effective use

of most of web 2.0 applications through their social networking or integral work flow

management system. Tools like wikis, blogs, forums are proved to be successfully implemented

inside the organization for enhancing the abilities of employees to do work. In fact this study

pointed out that these tools are playing a good role to coordinate company’s global operation

from more than 120 production and office centers. Infosys providing the social network facilities

to the employees through internal work flow, knowledge management system and through an

additional facebook type social network tools called Infosys bubble. The study indicates that the

popularity of Infosys bubble is not much impressive inside the organization even though it is

increasing, because employees are always active in other networking tools inside their working

environment. Knowledge management system of the organization is also highly influenced by

networking tools. Employees get clear and updated information and knowledge through social

network tools, which have proved to be more effective than previous system. With the proper

back up this technological improvement KM system of Infosys ensures right information to the

right person at the right time. Study also pointed out that the system helps employees to response

fast to the problems and makes effective decision making. Employees satisfaction and

motivation level are also high with the respect to social networking tools. Infosys manages the

social networking technologies as an efficient method for promoting innovation among

employees. Advanced social networking features added in integrated system of Infosys improves

the team coordination and virtual team effort to enhance innovative thoughts. All these factors

points to the scope of individual and team development in the organization by increasing work

efficiency.

The study has also analyzed major negative aspects related to the social networking system and

its impact on employees work efficiency. The security of information, risk of virus and security

attack etc are analyzed and proved to be not critical in the case of Infosys. The protective, control

and disciplinary measures taken by Infosys has proved to be effective in the research. In

addition the study has proved that productivity of Infosys has increased by the implementation of

new social networking systems. According to the survey and interview results, it was clear that

misuse and overuse threat of social network in Infosys is minimum. But not purposeful mistakes

threat which may possibly circulate false information through the knowledge management

system still exist. This may adversely affect the productivity, profitability and reputation of the

organization. But primary level investigation in the research justifies this threat as a low

frequent aspect and in addition Infosys has take control measures against the risk. Since

organization does not require any additional investment of the development of the system,

Infosys regulates their social networking system to an efficient level so that it positively impacts

the efficiency of employees in work place. As per the above findings and discussions of this

research we can conclude the stating the positive hypotheses of this study which is “Use of a

company specific SNS does increase efficiency of project developer teams of employees.
