PSU (power supply unit)

A PSU also known as a ‘power supply unit’. Is a hardware component which converts ac current from a mains plug to DC current, DC current which is low voltage this is done for the use of internal components. Modern computer systems universally use an component called switched- mode power supply, some PSU’s have a manual selector for input voltage as the rest automatically changes to the amount of voltage which is required.

Motherboard

The motherboard is an circuit board, in a computer it is the most venerable component of the system, it consists of the CPU,BIOS, MEMORY, HDD, serial and parallel ports, expansion slots and other necessary a interfaces or accessories, complied for the user’s needs. The Motherboard consists of a chipset, which is an integrated circuit that manages data flow between the processor, memory and peripherals.

HDD

A HDD (hard disk drive), is an computer systems main component of permanent storage, its internals consist of many platters inside a sealed casing, they are located towards the front of an computer tower and connect by ATA, SCSI or SATA cables to the motherboard.

CPU

The CPU central processing unit, this is the most important part of the entire computer system, large machines need one or more printed circuit board’s, but in a computer system, the cpu is housed in single chip called a microprocessor. The cpu is an internal component, which are compact and have many metallic connectors, or pins on there underside and located on motherboard.

RAM

The RAM random access memory, is open to the computer software, and is used for no permanent storage. There are two types of ram as dram as dynamic random access memory and sram as static random access memory. Non-volatile memory is computer memory that when a computer system is turned off it will still store data.

Video card

A video card is a expansion card which is allocated within a computers systems expansion slots. Which outputs image’s for a display on a monitor. Many video cards are made to a specific function as either displaying a 3D or 2D image.
