STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: The Inspectorate Staff of Drugs and Food Control Organization suspended the license of four Chemist Shops during surprise raids here at Lakhanpur and Billawar. The exercise was necessitated amidst reports of mis-use of preparations containing Tramadol and Sildenafil Citrate. Tramadol has been brought under the purview of NDPS Act, 1985 for its nature and effect and scope of abuse, whereas Sildenafil Citrate is used to treat erec- tile dysfunction. The gener- al complaint about the above drugs was that these were being sold without valid pre- scription from health practi- tioners. The inspecting team seized available stocks of such drugs worth approximately rupees forty-five thousand and suspended license of M/s Gupta Medical Store, M/s Angel Medicos at Billawar and Ashwani Medicos, M/s Kamal Medicos and Life line Medicos at Lakhanpur. 19 samples of various cate- gories of drugs were lifted for purpose of checking their identity, purity and strength. Further investigation/pro- cedure of the Act is being followed to deal with viola- tions by the above licensee strictly as per mandate of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: District Employment and Counselling Centre (DE&CC) on Tuesday organised a career guid- ance programme for stu- dents at Govt ITI. The students were coun- selled regarding various career options available in the public sector as well as private sector. Experts also provided information regarding var- ious entrepreneurial schemes implemented by the government. Around 95 students from different trades (Fitter, Welder, Electrician, COPA) attended the session. The main emphasis was on enabling the trainees to choose their career as per the aptitude and skills rather than under the peer's influence. ITI Kathua celebrates Vanmahotsav STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: To strengthen the police public relations and to bring people nearer to the police for better output in prevention, detection of crime and to solve the problems of general public, SHO Ramgarh Vikas Dogra along with ASI Butti Ram con- ducted public meeting at village Dug falling under the jurisdic- tion of Ramgarh Police Station. The meeting was held under the direction of SSP Samba Anil Magotra and SDPO Vijaypur Baljeet Singh. A large number of prominent citizens and students of village Jerda, Dug and Pardi partici- pated in the meeting. Various issues raised by border residents were discussed and police assured them that their demands and problems will be solved. While highlighting the importance of conducting awareness camps for farm- ers, the SDAO Pranoo stressed the field Staff of Agriculture Department to increase the frequency of conducting such awareness camps so that the farmers are made aware about the recent developments and schemes in the farming sec- tor for their larger benefits. Police hands over lost mobiles to owners STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Police with the aim to extend public services recov- ered seven lost mobile handsets valuing approximate Rs 55,000 and handed over to their owners. SSP Kathua Shridhar Patil handed over these recovered mobiles handsets to their owners who expressed gratitude to Kathua police and especially to SSP Kathua for tracing their lost mobiles. He said the strict action will be taken against those not adhering to the directions. The medical camp was conducted by a team of army doctors along with medical staff to address the medical problems of populace in far flung and remote areas of the region. Alongwith the medical care, awareness was also spread about positive health practices, family planning, cleanliness, hygiene and healthy living. STATE TIMES NEWSSAMBA: In order to assessthe bone mineral density andsensitise the students abouthealth and hygiene, GDCSamba orgnaised a campwhere Dr. Bias Dev, Asstt.Prof. Orthopaedics, GMCJammu, delivered an inform-ative lecture to the students. He made them aware about

the importance of health andhygiene. Dr. Bias furtherurged the students to imbibegood habits vis-à-vis hygieneand advised them to do regu-lar physical exercise andavoid junk food, smoking andalcohol intake.

The students participatedinteractively and clearedtheir doubts regarding com-mon disorders concerningbones.

Principal of the college, wel-comed Dr. Bias Dev and histeam and thanked him forchoosing GDC as the venuefor measurement of bone

STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: TheInspectorate Staff of Drugsand Food ControlOrganization suspended thelicense of four ChemistShops during surprise raidshere at Lakhanpur andBillawar. The exercise wasnecessitated amidst reportsof mis-use of preparationscontaining Tramadol andSildenafil Citrate.

Tramadol has beenbrought under the purviewof NDPS Act, 1985 for itsnature and effect and scopeof abuse, whereas SildenafilCitrate is used to treat erec-tile dysfunction. The gener-al complaint about the abovedrugs was that these werebeing sold without valid pre-scription from health practi-

tioners.The inspecting team seized

available stocks of suchdrugs worth approximatelyrupees forty-five thousandand suspended license ofM/s Gupta Medical Store,M/s Angel Medicos atBillawar and AshwaniMedicos, M/s KamalMedicos and Life lineMedicos at Lakhanpur. 19samples of various cate-gories of drugs were liftedfor purpose of checkingtheir identity, purity andstrength.

Further investigation/pro-cedure of the Act is beingfollowed to deal with viola-tions by the above licenseestrictly as per mandate ofthe Drugs and CosmeticsRules, 1945.

STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: DistrictEmployment andCounselling Centre(DE&CC) on Tuesdayorganised a career guid-ance programme for stu-dents at Govt ITI.

The students were coun-selled regarding variouscareer options available inthe public sector as well as

private sector.Experts also provided

information regarding var-ious entrepreneurialschemes implemented bythe government. Around95 students from differenttrades (Fitter, Welder,Electrician, COPA)attended the session. Themain emphasis was onenabling the trainees to

BANIHAL: Army organised a medical campfor the local populace of Villages Ukhral,Pogul, Paristan and adjoining remote areasof Banihal region.

The medical camp was conducted by a teamof army doctors along with medical staff toaddress the medical problems of populace infar flung and remote areas of the region.Alongwith the medical care, awareness wasalso spread about positive health practices,family planning, cleanliness, hygiene andhealthy living. More than 1,100 patients,including senior citizens, men, women andchildren benefitted from medical treatmentand check up provided by Army. Medicineswere also distributed to the patients. Thenoble gesture of army was well received andappreciated by the local population.
