College Magazine Production Phases For the first phase of my magazine production, I opened a new file within photoshop, which was sized as US Paper- of A4. I then created a masthead for my college magazine using http://www.dafont.com/ and selecting the style ‘random.’ By then print screening the website page, I could then use it on my college magazine front cover. The green lines seen underneath the masthead were done in paint- being copy and pasted was how I got them onto my magazine cover, using a new page within photoshop to copy it to and from.

College Magazine Production Phases

For the first phase of my magazine production, I opened a new file within photoshop, which was sized as US Paper- of A4.

Next in the production phase, I added text to the college magazine, again using http://www.dafont.com/. These words are the part of the main story for my magazine and are known as the ‘Tag lines’ –they indicate to the audience what the main focus of the magazine is and allow them to directly relate to this ideas and story behind these words.

Carrying on, I added an orange border to the magazine- this will continue on throughout the magazine to show continuality and be recognised by the target audience as a small/minor USP. Also, I added three stars into the skyline as well as information referring to up-coming party events. I used the skyline as a key feature of my magazine because, naturally, our eyes are drawn to the top of the page. The stars were obtained off Google Images and the text was again off http://www.dafont.com/.

Next on my phases of production was adding the main image that’s related to the main story/article within this issue of the magazine. I choose this image because the expression relates to the text on the magazine cover- being confused, lost ect. Moreover, I choose to add scribbles underneath the image so that the continuality of the title- and it’s scribbles- washes over the rest of the page, allowing the audience to recognise the magazine in the future.

Now I have added a text box to the bottom of the magazine, which is there to advertise another aspect of the magazine- the “TOP TEN TIPS” for surviving at college. This directly attracts the target audience as they will want to know how to manage their college

lifestyle as easily as possible and by allowing them access to this knowledge, they will perhaps refer to future copies of the magazine for advice- meaning that my college magazine is doing as set out to do. The text was obtained off DaFont and edited using free transform.

Finally, I added cover lines to the right hand corner of the magazine front cover. By doing this it adds another part of the magazine that the target audience can relate to and therefore makes the chance of them liking the magazine higher- as there is more attracting them: the different stories, images ect. Also, I added arrows throughout the front of the magazine to attract the eyes and direct them to each part of the magazine which I feel needs focusing on individually.
