Common codes and conventions

The logo of the company or channel will be big and clear to make the audience remember the product.

It will have large, easy to read font so the concept of the board is understood quickly

Bright or complementing colours to attract the attention of the consumer

Slogans to engage the readers quickly

The billboard is hanging from the ceiling which implies that it is high up. This means that more people will notice it from a distance.

It appears to be in a train station which means that there may be copies on sale there. Also train stations are busy places which means that there will be more people that may wish to buy the magazine.

Masthead and tagline dominate the left side of the billboard this allows all the focus to be on the magazine name The billboard shows the forms in

which you can buy the magazine. It also shows the magazine three times which makes it stick in the readers mind, intriguing them what is inside.

App store symbol advertises the app store as a service and a place to buy the magazine

Bright yellow contrasts with the white and draws the attention of the public

Has a web address in the bottom left which means people can quickly and easily search the magazine

Large image and large sans serif font to make it easily visible to passers by and to make it stand out.

A large image including the newspaper in some way is often used to illustrate to billboard, to make it stand out and to appeal to the target audience. The name of the newspaper is used to

appeal to the target audience and attract readers from the local area.

Magazine contact details such as email, phone number and address might be given to allow the audience to contact the paper.

A slogan or sell line that the audience recognise for the paper e.g. Your news essential etc.

The billboard must also be attractive and colourful in order to catch the attention of passers by.

The company name and product slogan are in the same font and are placed in a large banner at the bottom of the billboard. The audience will most likely see this first as it is close to the average persons eye level.

Model of care is placed next to the product in the largest font out of all of the text on the billboard

Billboard is relatively low to the ground. It has most likely been placed on a main road to maximise the amount of people who see the advert who are drivers and would consider a care

The car itself is the largest image on the billboard. It is shown side on most likely so that the audience can see the company logo and it sticks in their heads. As well as what the car will look like and how it will appeal to someone.

The slogan ‘this is the new jaguar’ shows that this is the latest jaguar and people always want the newest cars to will be inclined to buy one
