VoCation ChaliCe

One of our responsibilities as Catholics is to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. St. Gregory the Great’s Vocation Chalice is a great opportunity for families to pray together and promote vocations. We encourage parishioners to take the chalice home for a week and pray for vocations. Simply put it in a prominent place, pray (prayers are included) and talk about vocations with your family.

If your family would be interested in participating, please contact the parish office at 609-587-4877 or visit www.StGregorytheGreatChurch.org/vocations.

Praying for vocations is the most powerful way to support vocations, especially during National Vocation Awareness Week. A vocation is a call from the Holy Spirit, a gift from God that is nurtured in prayer. When we pray for vocations, we lift up to our Father those men and women whom He is calling to follow Him in a very special way.

a note from our PaStor

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We began November with the solemnity of All Saints and then the commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls). In November we also near the end of the liturgical year and think about Christ’s Second Coming at the end of time. As Christians we should feel hopeful when it comes to these topics of eternity and eternal life. We pray to the saints who are now where we want to be one day, and we pray for souls in Purgatory that their journeys to Heaven can be hastened. “We know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus” (Corinthians 4:14).

This Wednesday, November 8 we will have a visit from a world-renowned priest named Fr. Jose Maniyangat. Fr. Jose experienced death and then came back to life.

On April 14, 1985, he was on the way to celebrate Mass when he was in a fatal collision with a drunk driver. Fr. Jose, accompanied by his Guardian Angel, then visited Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. During his time in Heaven, Fr. Jose received a special message from God. Our Lord told him that the world was in great need of healing: “I need you. I want you to go back. In your second life you will be an instrument of healing, deliverance and peace to My people and you will walk in a foreign land and speak a foreign tongue.” Fr. Jose was given the gift of healing.

During his time with us this Wednesday, he will celebrate a Mass of Healing and Deliverance for spiritual, mental, and physical healing. Mass will begin at 7:00 pm. All are welcome.

Please also pray this week for vocations from our parish to the priesthood, consecrated life and diaconate. Offer prayers of support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations, and pray that more people would consider them as a life choice. November 5-11 is National Vocation Awareness Week.

Veterans Day is November 11. “Almighty God and Father, grant strength and peace of mind to the veterans who have given their best for the country they love. Support them in infirmity. Teach us to remember their sacrifices and to express our gratitude.”

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. McClane

Prayer and WorShiP31st Sunday in ordinary time: matthew 23:1-12Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying,“The scribes and the Pharisees have taken their seat on the chair of Moses. Therefore, do and observe all things whatsoever they tell you, but do not follow their example. For they preach but they do not practice. They tie up heavy burdens hard to carry and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they will not lift a finger to move them. All their works are performed to be seen. They widen their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels. They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues, greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation ‘Rabbi.’ As for you, do not be called ‘Rabbi.’You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers. Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven. Do not be called ‘Master’; you have but one master, the Christ. The greatest among you must be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

Choral anthem – noVemBer 5 The St. Gregory the Great Choir will perform the motet Ave Verum Corpus by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the 10:30am Mass on Sunday, November 5.

Hail, true Body, born of the Virgin Mary, having truly suffered, sacrificed on the cross for mankind, from whose pierced side water and blood flowed: Be for us a foretaste of the Heavenly banquet in the trial of death.

CeleBrate our lady of GuadaluPe The Diocese of Trenton is sponsoring a procession through the streets of Trenton in celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe. She is patroness of the pro-life movement because of her miraculous intervention that put an end to Aztec infant sacrifice soon after her apparition. The procession begins on December 2 at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church on Chestnut Avenue and proceeds down Hamilton, Olden, and Clinton Avenues ending at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Three different procession lengths are available, with buses available at St. Mary’s Cathedral to transport you to the starting point of your choice. Bishop David O’Connell will celebrate Mass at noon followed by food and fellowship. Visit guadalupe2017.eventbrite.com to register and for more information.

maSS of healinG and deliVeranCe for SPiritual, mental, and PhySiCal healinG St. Gregory the Great Church will celebrate a Mass of Healing and Deliverance for spiritual, mental, and physical healing on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Father Jose Maniyangat will be the celebrant. The Mass will include a procession and blessing with the monstrance. All are welcome.

Father Jose Maniyangat is a popular speaker and an instrument of healing. On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 14, 1985, Father Jose was on the way to celebrate Mass when he was in a fatal collision with a drunk driver. Father Jose, accompanied by his Guardian Angel visited Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. During his time in heaven, Father Jose received a special message from God. In your second life you will be an instrument of healing, deliverance and peace to My people and you will walk in a foreign land and speak a foreign tongue” and Father was given the gift of healing.

Fr. Jose has traveled to major cities of the United States and countries overseas to conduct Eucharistic Healing Services, retreats and conferences. Many miraculous healings have occurred at these services. Those who are looking for healing of the mind, body and soul are invited to come and receive the healing power of Jesus Christ who is the Supreme Healer. Come experience the touch of God through the Eucharist, the Mass, worship and prayer.

on our Way to Winter GardeninG for thoSe in need

The tomatoes are drawing to an end in our Community Garden and we don’t want to stop growing fresh food for those in need. As the growers, we have become a real community, with Confirmation students, kindergarteners, Garden Club members, and other eager volunteers. We want to keep the spirit and the produce alive, and are working to raise enough for two or more “tunnel” style covers for the garden.

Luckily one of our volunteers, Peter Patterson, raided his stock of building materials and was able to come up with tubing for at least one cover. We still may need additional tubing for at least one other bed and row cover fabric to keep the plants warm and protected from frost under the tunnel.

We are on our way, but we need your help. We will need between $50 and $100 to cover our beds. Pete started us off with the tubing and Joan Buckley has made our first money donation. If you can donate $5 or more, please email [email protected] or text/call 609-651-1544. Thank you!

ProClaiminG the Good neWS!By the Evangelization TeamWith the writing and submission of this Good News, we are at the eve of All Saints and All Souls, a beautiful traditional time for our Church to pray and remember those who have gone before us. I offer a story of faithful families gathering with strong bonds of love and friendship, which were built through faith.

Last Tuesday evening, our parish’s Emmanuel Prayer Group gathered for a memorial Mass celebration of a member’s mom. We sang songs of praise and thanksgiving, and our friend shared the story of her mother’s love and devotion to the Church and prayer. Most especially she shared how her mother devotedly prayed for her. Another friend, comforting a loved one who had lost their husband, noted, “God is so good. The reality that we have a loving Father in heaven who NEVER abandons us was so real. Very real. God takes care of those who love Him and Our Lady promises that we will not be alone at death.”
