The people who walked in darknesshave seen a great light;upon those who dwelt in the land of glooma light has shone. You have brought them abundant joyand great rejoicing,as they rejoice before you as at the harvest,as people make merry when dividing spoils. For the yoke that burdened them, the pole on their shoulder, and the rod of their taskmasteryou have smashed, as on the day of Midian. For every boot that tramped in battle, every cloak rolled in blood, will be burned as fuel for flames. For a child is born to us, a son is given us;upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero,Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. His dominion is vastand forever peaceful, from David’s throne, and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustainsby judgment and justice, both now and forever.

    R. Today is born our Savior, Christ the Lord.

O sing a new song to the LORD; sing to the LORD, all the earth. O sing to the LORD; bless his name.

Proclaim his salvation day by day. Tell among the nations his glory, and his wonders among all the peoples.

Let the heavens rejoice and earth be glad; let the sea and all within it thunder praise. Let the land and all it bears rejoice. Then will all the trees of the wood shout for joy.

At the presence of the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice; he will govern the peoples with his truth. The Revised Grail Psalms Copyright © 2010, Conception Abbey/The Grail, admin. by GIA Publications, Inc., www.giamusic.com All rights reserved.

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustusthat the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazarethto Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son.She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fieldsand keeping the night watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to themand the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them,

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
