Grand symphonic sound has been the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s trademark since 1894. Performing both sacred and secular repertoire, TMC choristers are committed to offering audiences authentic interpretation, clarity of expression and a profound emotional experience of some of the most important music ever composed. The TMC can be heard in its own critically-acclaimed concerts and also in regular performances with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Through these performances and its educational programs, the TMC aspires to make choral masterworks available, accessible, and inspirational to all listeners. The Elora Singers, an all-professional Grammy- and Juno-nominated chamber choir, was founded in 1980 by Noel Edison. It is the choral ensemble-in-residence of the Elora Festival for four weeks each summer, and since 1997 has formed the professional core of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. Through regular concert series, broadcasts, touring, and numerous releases on the Naxos label, the Elora Singers has established a reputation as one of the finest chamber choirs in Canada and beyond. It is known for its rich, warm sound and clarity of texture. TMC Outreach and Education programs include the annual Conductors’ Symposium and concert, the Associate Conductor position (currently held by Jennifer Min-Young Lee), the TMC Apprentice program (which currently supports seven young choristers 1722 years of age), and an annual series of five Singsation Saturday choral workshops. These choral workshops, designed for everyone who loves to sing, no matter their level, bring together guest conductors with some TMC choristers, alumni and other enthusiastic singers to explore an exciting range of choral works. We hope you will join us for future concerts. March 6 & 7, the TMC performs two dramatic contemporary works Arvo Pärt’s Berliner Messe and James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross at Church of the Holy Trinity. March 28 & 29, the TMC returns to St. Paul’s Basilica for a program of contemplative music. Visit www.tmchoir.org for info on TMC concerts and our popular Singsation Saturday workshops.
