Technology and scientific advance have taken away our humanity. Do you agree with this view?

Numerous of person may argue that as we move further into the front line of technology

we progress with a slow death of society, by losing culture and ultimately a sense of ourselves.

To a certain extent this may be true, but realistically if we cease to progress of technology we

won’t be able to survive. Modern science and technology have brought us many amazing things

that help and improve our lives. Without its contribution there is no doubt that we couldn’t

achieve this “technological world” today.  Is technology in fact taken away our humanity as a

whole? The actuality of this situation remains that technology is by no means damaging to our

society, throughout the world, or to the greater humanity of the human race. In fact, its advances

can be best summarized under the following headings internet and medical technology.

The internet is a technology used by almost every person around the world. This

technology also allows people to communicate with each another either through email, instant

messaging, or verbal chat. Alexander Graham Bell used the internet technology for our cell

phones to increase more flexibility so we can talk to our co-workers, colleagues, friends and

family whenever we require. As well as being an important provider for us common people who

wish to browser the World Wide Web, the internet serves a much greater purpose. The internet

allows our society in this present day times to interconnect and promote globalization and

information sharing almost instantaneously between scholars, researchers, and others. Person’s

may argue that due to harmful aspects of internet technology people are becoming fully

technological based, and it can bring huge damage to the society as its taking away the ordinary

thoughts and natural ideas. However Before the times of the internet, the other alternatives to

transmit information and ideas were not nearly as efficient or effective as it is today. The use of

internet technology has greatly enhanced the medical field also.

One of the most essential technological advances in our society today is in the field of

human medicine and health sciences. Medicine is an area where knowledge is obtained, then

applied to treatment. It has been around at least as far as the beginning of recorded history. In the

hospital they use computer applications, such as patient information systems, monitoring and

control systems and diagnostic systems to enhance healthcare. According to Longman

Information Technology for CXC, patient monitoring and control system “help doctors treat

patients by providing 24 hour service and by this reduce the level of false alarms”. Since the

information from these systems can be recorded on a magnetic disk, it allows for doctors to

analyze the patient’s process at any later date.

In conclusion, even though technology brings its downsides human beings are better off

living with these disadvantages than without technology. Take for instances, the two

technologies I have covered in the essay: the internet technology allows for our society to

communicate and progress further into clarification.  Most important of all, medicine technology,

allows us to ensure our own survival on this earth. These two technologies as a whole clearly

show that technology is extremely beneficial to our society and humanity.
