Experts in Mexico find remains of 12 Aztec

dogs. The dogs are around 500 years old.

The place is probably a dog cemetery. It is very old. It

can be the oldest dog cemetery in the world.

Dogs were special to the Aztecs. Dogs were buried

with people. They showed dead people the way after

death. Dogs also protected buildings. People found

dogs under pyramids.

Experts want more information about the cemetery.

They will continue to work.

He is a man in India. He is very old. He says

that he is the oldest man in the world. The

man has his ID card. It says that he was

born on 11th May 1896. It means that he is

almost 118 years old. What is his secret to a

long life? He eats simple food. He eats

vegetables and seeds. He never eats meat

The man lives with his large family in a

village. He can still walk. After waking up, he

reads from a Hindu book.

A couple in California found

treasure while walking their

dog. They found 1,400 gold

coins which were worth $10

million.

Sometimes people find coins

that are worth thousands of

dollars, but these finders

were very lucky when they

spotted an old metal can on

their land. They dug it out

full of 19th century gold

coins. They searched around

The Hennessey Venom GT isn’t just pretty

to look at. It’s now known as the fastest

sports car in the world.

The super car set a new land speed record

earlier this month, clocking in at 270.49

miles per hour. It narrowly beats the old

record held by Bugatti’s Veyron Super Sport.

The record-setting run happened earlier this

month at the Kennedy Space Centre in

Florida on a runway made for space shuttle

landings.

The entire run from naught to 270.49 mph

took less than a minute.

It’s unclear, however, whether the car’s

achievement will make it into the Guinness

World Records. To be officially recognised, a

car must make two runs in opposite

directions, something that wasn’t allowed on

the NASA landing strip.

Oldest Human Footprint

in Europe

The oldest human footprints

outside of Africa have been

discovered in Britain, dating

back around a million years.

They were found on a beach

on the Norfolk coast and are

direct evidence of the

earliest known humans in

Northern Europe.

“They’re without doubt the

oldest human footprints in

Europe and some of the

oldest human footprints in

the world, so they’re really

incredibly important finds.”

The prints were first

discovered in May last year

during low tide. Storms and

rough seas had eroded the

sand at Happisburgh to

reveal hollows resembling

human footprints. They

recorded the surface using

photogrammetry, a

technique which can stitch

together digital photographs

to create a permanent record

and 3D image of the imprint.

The images and model were

unveiled at a news

conference at the British

Museum in London.

“The spread of footprint size

gives us an indication that

we have children, a number

of children and then probably

some adults there with at

least one, probably male.”

Discoveries of ancient man

footprints are extremely rare.

The Happisburgh ones are

the only ones of this age in

Europe. There are only three

other sets that are older and

they are in Africa.

Scientists now say the

discovery will rewrite our

understanding of human

occupation of Britain and

Europe.

people indeed had greater

capabilities than we thought

to expand really to the edge

of the inhabited world of that

time.”

The reading game is about to change

forever. Boston-based software developer

Spritz has been in “stealth mode” for three

years, tinkering with their program and

leasing it out to different ebooks, apps, and

other platforms.

Now, Spritz is about to go public with

Samsung’s new line of wearable technology.

Other apps have offered up similar types of

rapid serial visual presentation to enhance

reading speed and convenience on mobile

devices in the past.

However, what Spritz does differently (and

brilliantly) is manipulate the format of the

words to more appropriately line them up

with the eye’s natural motion of reading.

The “Optimal Recognition Point” (ORP) is

slightly left of the center of each word, and is

the precise point at which our brain

deciphers each jumble of letters.

The unique aspect of Spritz is that it

identifies the ORP of each word, makes that

letter red and presents all of the ORPs at the

same space on the screen.

In this way, our eyes don’t move at all as we

see the words, and we can therefore process

information instantaneously rather than

spend time decoding each word.

The collapse of Mt. Gox did

not surprise online finance

experts. Many said it was an

accident waiting to happen.

They also said Bitcoin will

recover from the Mt. Gox

shock. There are no rules or

laws to control Bitcoin so the

collapse of Mt. Gox could

mean a better system will

come. Companies will now

make their security tighter

and governments might

create laws to make Bitcoin

safer. Barry Silbert, CEO of

Bitcoin company

SecondMarket, says the

currency will bounce back.

He told reporters: "If you

look at the short history of

Bitcoin, there has been a

series of bubbles, busts,

hacks and thefts. After every

Egyike a leghatékonyabbaknak a szókincsed fejlesztéséhez,

és a nyelvtani szerkezetek használatának gyakorlásához,

plusz még beszédet is tudsz vele fejleszteni!

A titka az egésznek az, hogy hogyan használd őket (és hogyan

nem…). Ehhez találsz itt néhány hasznos tippet, az újság

végén pedig rengeteg szókicnskártyát a magazin teljes angol

és német szókincsét felölelve. Elég tanulnivaló lesz napokra,

hetekre!

Mit csinálj a mellékelt

kártyákkal?

1. Nyomtasd ki azokat

az oldalakat, ahol a kártyák

vannak (a legjobb színesben,

de fekete-fehérben is látszik

a két eltérő szín)

2. Vágd ki a kártyákat

3. Ha CSAK EGY SZÓ

szerepel a kártyán,

egészítsd ki kifejezéssé,

egyszerre egy-egy cikk

kártyáit, vagy mondjuk 20-at.

az rengeteg lenne!)

4. Írd rá a kártya

Így használd a

kártyákat!

1. Magyarról

németre/angolra

memorizálj! Mindig a kártya magyar felét

nézd meg, és próbáld meg

lefordítani, aztán ellenőrizd

magad! Ez a legegyszerűbb

tanulási módszer a

kártyákhoz, és nagyon

hatékony!

2. Ne ess túlzásba! Arra figyelj, hogy egyszerre

ne túl sok kártyával

foglalkozz! Mondjuk 10-20

db-ot vigyél magaddal, és

amikor időd van – akár csak

pár perc, vagy amikor a

tanulásra szánsz

valamennyi időt – akkor

használd őket. Akkor térj át

újakra, ha már minden

kifejezést tudsz használni.

3. Használd ki a

kieső időket! Amikor sorban állsz, utazol,

orvoshoz vársz, vagy otthon

napozol a teraszon stb.

Ezekben a időszakokban,

ha van a zsebedben kártya,

sokat tudsz tanulni, és még

az időd sem megy

veszendőbe.

4. Változatos

módszerek! Ha már megy az egyszerű

kifejezés, akkor alkoss

mondatokat vele, vagy a

mondatokkal rövid, saját

sztorikat! Ha az új

kifejezéseket a saját

közegedbe tudod helyezni,

saját mondatokba, akkor

sokkal könnyebben

megmaradnak. Nézzünk

pár tippet ehhez!

Script A scientist said robots will be more intelligent than humans

by 2029. The scientist's name is Ray Kurzweil. He works

for Google as Director of Engineering. He is one of the

world's leading experts on artificial intelligence (A.I.). Mr

Kurzweil believes computers will be able to learn from

experiences, just like humans. He also thinks they will be

able to tell jokes and stories, and even flirt. Kurzweil's 2029

prediction is a lot sooner than many people thought. The

scientist said that in 1999, many A.I. experts said it would

be hundreds of years before a computer was more

intelligent than a human. He said that it would not be long

before computer intelligence is one billion times more

powerful than the human brain.

Mr Kurzweil joked that many years ago, people thought he

Jugendsprache (auch

Jugendkommunikation) bezeichnet

Sprechweisen bzw. sprachliche

Muster und Merkmale, die

Jugendlichen in verschiedenen

Altersstufen verwenden. Der Begriff

ist nicht streng definiert. Man

bezeichnet die Jugendsprache als

eine Sondersprache („Lebensalter-

Sprache“). Übertreibungen, Humor,

Ironie, Spiel und Emotionalität prägen

jugendlichen Sprachgebrauch.

Im Laufe der Zeit hat sich eine Reihe

von Begriffen für unterschiedliche

Formen von Jugendsprache

herausgebildet:

- Comicdeutsch,

- Schülersprache,

- Denglisch,

- Soldatensprache,

- Studentensprache,

- Szenesprache,

- Drogenjargon,

- Graffiti-Jargon,

1. Du willst die Tochter deiner Freundin (Lori) aus er Schule abholen und hast dich auf

dem Schulhof verlaufen. Anstatt zu helfen, raten dir die neunmalklugen Pennäler, in die

Änderungsfleischerei zu gehen. Warum sagen sie es?

a) Vermutlich sagen sie, dass ich noch einkaufen muss. Steaks und Würstchen stehen

schon auf meinem Einkaufszettel.

b) Meine Nase ist vielleicht etwas krumm, aber deshalb werde ich sicher nicht in eine Klinik

für Schönheitschirurgie gehen.

c) Ich werde etwas falsch verstanden haben: Sie meinen sicher Änderungsschneiderei.

2. Du suchst den Klassenraum von Lori. Hinter dir hörst du die Schüler noch rufen:

Sehr geehrter Herr T.,

Wenn dieser Ausdruck eine deutsche

Zusammensetzung wäre, müsste er

zusammen oder mit Bindestrich

geschrieben werden. Der Apostroph

legt hier natürlich die Schreibung mit

Bindestrich nahe: das Let’s-Play.

Dabei müsste allerdings play

kleingeschrieben werden, das Let’s-

play, weil „play” ja kein Substantiv,

sondern ein Verb ist.

Let’s play ist aber ein englischer

Aufforderungssatz, der als Nomen

verwendet wird (Let’s play! = Lass

uns spielen!). Ich finde es deshalb

gerechtfertigt, hier frei zu

improvisieren und einfach die

englische Schreibweise zu

übernehmen. (Die Großschreibung

scheint auch im Englischen häufig

vorzukommen.)

Arbeitszeit nur schwer trennen. Wer

arbeiten kann, wann er will, macht das

häufig rund um die Uhr. «Nur, weil wir die

aus Meerbusch bei Düsseldorf. «Aber das

BI: How'd you get started?

Arya Bina: I got started back

in May of 2010 when I was

16 years old when a friend of

mine convinced me that it

would be a good idea to start

a travel agency. We got our

start with a build it yourself

website, a phone, and an ad

in the local paper. After some

time I came across the

concept of internet

marketing, that's when I

decided to invest heavily

(both financially and time

wise) into the concept of

being a completely online

travel agency. Unfortunately

my partner did not feel the

same way about my

expansionary mindset and

we decided to part ways.

Since then the business has

grown to employ over 20

people both here in the

U.S.A. and overseas.

BI: What have been your

biggest mistakes?

Bina: 1. Hiring the wrong

people. 2. Trying to micro-

manage. 3. Giving up on new

ideas or new concepts too

easily. 4. Focusing on

money.

BI: What were some

lessons you learned?

Bina: Probably one of the

most important lessons that

I've learned, which is hard for

many people to understand

is that business is not all

about the income statement.

A lot of times it's better to set

up a system that is a little

more costly but is scale-able

in the long run.

BI: What surprised you the

most about the world of

business?

Bina: I have always been

surrounded by people who

have owned their own

business, large and small so

there were not many big

surprises, but two things

which I have noticed is that

the mentality of small

business owners, and those

of large corporations differs

100% completely.

The second is that things in

business change extremely

fast, and it's not enough

anymore to just try and keep

up, if you want to compete

and grow you must be not

one but two steps ahead of

the competition in your

industry especially one as

competitive as travel.

BI: Have you had much

success? Can you quantify

it?

Bina: I believe I've had a lot

of success. I measure

success by the exceptional

team of employees I've built,

as well as the growth the

business has experienced in

customer base, and revenue.

We are currently on track to

control a respectable amount

of the discount travel booking

market in the next 5 years

guten Stil - für viele Frauen sind Sie ein

Gunnar Berendson: Ich interessiere mich eigentlich gar

nicht für Mode. Diesen Glamour-Mist in den Zeitschriften

kann ich nicht mehr sehen. Für mich geht es beim Thema

"gut angezogen sein" um Qualität, handwerkliche

Kompetenz und Passform. Es ist doch langweilig, wie die

großen Labels heute alles dominieren. Die meisten Leute

sehen aus wie eine Schaufensterpuppe, die kaufen sich

komplette Looks.

Ist guter Stil für Sie Ausdruck von Individualität?

Gunnar Berendson: Kleidung muss zum Typ passen und

zum Anlass. Das kann ein Mix aus Handgemachtem und

H&M sein. Hauptsache, es sieht nicht verkleidet aus. Stil

hat auch immer etwas mit Widerstand gegen die Norm zu

tun. Es ist wunderbar, wenn man damit spielen kann - als

Mann und als Frau. Die Frage dabei ist: Was erlaube ich

mir an Freiheit? Eines meiner Lieblingsteile ist eine

Aktentasche, handgefertigt aus dunkelgrünem Sattelleder.

Darauf werde ich ständig angesprochen, besonders von

Frauen.

Solche exklusiven Teile haben aber auch ihren

Preis.

Gunnar Berendson: Das stimmt. Aber diese Tasche kann

ich 50 Jahre lang mit mir herumtragen. Ich gebe lieber für

Einzelteile mehr aus und kaufe dafür insgesamt weniger.

Es gibt so viele Möglichkeiten. Man muss sich einfach ein

bisschen umschauen und die besten Sachen

heraussuchen.

Was halten Sie von Frauen, die

ihre Männer komplett

einkleiden?

Gunnar Berendson: Das kann gut

gehen, wenn die Frau viel Geschmack

hat. Aber im Grunde hat es doch

etwas Entwürdigendes. Ganz schlimm

wird es, wenn Mutti die Sachen

morgens auch noch rauslegt.

Aber was sollen Frauen machen,

wenn sie einen stil-resistenten

Mann zu Hause haben? Einen,

der einfach die erstbesten

Klamotten anzieht, die er im

Schrank findet?

Gunnar Berendson: Ich würde sagen,

die haben Pech gehabt! Nein, im

Ernst: Einstellungen können sich ja

ändern. Wenn so ein Mann mal einen

Anzug anzieht, der richtig gut passt,

merkt er wahrscheinlich, wie toll das

ist. Und dann kauft er sich solche

Anzüge immer wieder. Das Problem

ist, dass viele Männer noch immer

denken, es sei unmännlich, sich für

Kleidung zu interessieren.

be a better photographer.

Photography is one of the most exciting hobbies you can pick up, but when you're first starting out it can all just seem so daunting. But don't get discouraged! It's important to remember that everyone started somewhere. There are no Mozarts in photography, virtuoso geniuses who were born knowing everything there is to know

about the craft. More often we began like Beethoven, sitting at the piano in tears.

But while learning how to compose a symphony would take years of practice, composing a great photo can be done at the click of a button – if you know what you're doing. Fret not if you don't, however, we've got some simple tips that are easy to remember, easy to follow, can be used with any camera, and will improve your photos in no time – no technical knowledge required.

1. Exposure By using lots of exposure compensation

toward the negative, we're left with a dark

flower and bee silhouetted against the sky.

This lets us just focus on the contrast and

shape of the scene.

Ever walk into a dark room after being outside on a bright day? You know how your eyes have to adjust before you can see anything? Your camera is the same way.

The world varies from very bright to very dark and your camera can only capture so much of this range in a single shot. Controlling this range is very simple to do and can be a powerful way to change the character of your photo.

The easiest way to do this is with your camera's "exposure compensation" button, which is always signified with a +/- symbol. It might be a dedicated dial, a button on the camera, or an option in the menu. Whenever you shoot in an automatic mode on a camera, it tries to figure out how bright the scene should be.

2. Light By shooting when the sun is low we get a wonderful golden light as well as more interesting atmospheric effects.

Specifically, you want to find situations where

light is dramatic. The best time to do this is

during something called the "golden hour"

The golden hour is simply the hour right

around dawn and right before sunset. It's

named this for the beautiful golden color the

sun often takes on at these times of day.

The golden hour is also important because it tends to create really wonderful shadows. While at noon shadows tend to be nonexistent because the sun is directly above you, at sunrise/sunset the sun is low.

3. Perspective

This shot gets on the dog's level for a much more interesting perspective, seeing the world how he sees it.

Most of us see the entire world from

between five and six feet off the ground.

While there are entire books on the creative

use of perspective, how different lenses

affect your perspective, and other wonderful

tips, a beginner only needs to know one

thing: experiment.

Get lower, get higher, get directly above your

subject, or directly below them. Zoom in on

your subject, zoom out and show how your

subject fits in the world around you.

4. Focus By focusing on a certain point we draw the viewer's eye towards it, blurring out the rest of the background.

When you're trying to capture something in a

photo, you want that subject to be in focus so

the details are crisp. On a smartphone this is

easy; you just tap whatever it is you're trying to

shoot on the screen.

For other cameras it can be a little more

complicated, but typically speaking if your

camera has a physical shutter button, you

can focus by holding the button halfway

down. When the camera thinks it's locked in

it'll usually surround the subject in a green

box of some sort and give a cheerful beep

indicating everything's good to go. Press the

button the rest of the way and voila, you've

got an in-focus photo.

While there are lots of advanced things you can do with selective focus, for starters just

concentrate on getting what you want in focus.

That said, here are some simple things to keep in mind: With landscapes you usually want everything in focus, which the camera sometimes doesn't understand. Most cameras have a "landscape" scene mode for just these occasions. Also, when capturing portraits of people or animals, it's best to focus on the eyes above all else. They're the windows to the soul, after all.

5. Composition

By placing the subject on the left side of the frame we leave room for him to move into, so your eyes move from left to right with the ball.

Composition is essentially three things: what you keep in the frame, what you leave out, and where you put things that are in the frame. While the first two aspects are fairly straightforward, the third is a bit trickier.

When we're starting out as photographers we tend to just put our subject in the center. This is fine, but it also gets boring, quickly. Our brains naturally break things down into patterns, but having things slightly off-center

is appealing. In photography there's actually a very simple method of composing called the "Rule of Thirds" that takes advantage of this.

Die Moai sind die größten menschlichen Bildnisse, die je von

Hand geschaffen wurden. Beeindruckend und fremdartig blicken

sie herunter: Die Figuren aus vulkanischem Tuffstein sind fünf bis

neun Meter hoch. Das größte, unvollendete Exemplar sollte

unglaubliche 20 Meter in die Höhe ragen. Über 1000 der Figuren

mit der charakteristischen länglichen Kopfform, den langen

Ohrläppchen, den großen Nasen und dem steinernen Hut sollen

in vergangenen Zeiten die Insel gesäumt haben. Heute stehen

nur noch wenige als stumme Zeugen der Geschichte an ihrem

Platz, der Großteil liegt umgestoßen und zerbrochen mit dem

Gesicht auf der Erde.

Um 400 n. Chr., so nehmen Forscher an, soll es einer kleinen

Gruppe Polynesier als erster gelungen sein, mit Segelbooten die

einsame Insel im Pazifischen Ozean zu erreichen. Auf Grund der

isolierten Lage lebten sie über ein Jahrtausend in völliger

Abgeschiedenheit.

Die Osterinseln umfassen 170 Quadratkilometer, verteilt auf vier

Inseln. „Rapa Nui“ nennen die Bewohner sich selbst, ihre

Sprache und ihr Land. Ihren offiziellen Namen verdanken sie

Jakob Roggeveen, der am Ostersonntag des Jahres 1722 das

Eiland von seinem Schiff aus entdeckte. Der niederländische

Forscher fand eine blühende Inselkultur vor – die Zahl der

Bewohner schätzte er auf 20 000. Als 52 Jahre später der

berühmte Kapitän James Cook die Insel anlief, bot sich ihm ein

völlig anderes Bild: Nur noch wenige Menschen lebten verstreut

und verängstigt in unzugänglichen Höhlen. Die Steingiganten

lagen zerstört am Boden.

Ob eine Naturkatastrophe oder eine Epidemie schuld am

Untergang waren oder ob der stetig wachsenden Bevölkerung die

Nahrungsmittel ausgingen – die Wissenschaft ist dem Schicksal

WARWICK CASTLE Attacked in 1264, besieged in 1642 and

damaged by fire in 1871, the Castle has

nevertheless survived the ever-changing

fortunes of history.

Warwick Castle is a medieval

castle built by William the

Conqueror in 1068. Warwick

is the county town of

Warwickshire, England,

situated on a bend of the

River Avon.

The original wooden castle

was rebuilt in stone in the

12th century. During the

Hundred Years War, the

facade opposite the town

was refortified, resulting in

one of the most recognisable

examples of 14th century

military architecture. It was

used as a stronghold until the

early 17th century, when it

was granted to Sir Fulke

Greville by James I in 1604.

Sir Fulke Greville converted it

to a country house. It was

owned by the Greville family,

who became earls of

Warwick in 1759, until 1978

when it was bought by the

Tussauds Group, a media

and entertainment company,

who opened it as a tourist

attraction.

Tussauds performed

extensive restorations to the

castle and grounds. In 2001,

Warwick Castle was named

one of Britain's "Top 10

historic houses and

monuments" by the British

Tourist Authority; with half a

million visitors a year.

Tourist attractions in the

castle include e.g. "Flight of

the Eagles'" (a bird show,

featuring bald eagles,

vultures, and sea eagles),

archery displays,

Jousting,"The Trebuchet

Show" and "The Sword In

The Stone Show". The

Castle is also home to "The

Castle Dungeon", a live actor

Greville who is said to haunt

the Watergate Tower despite

having been murdered in

story of Fulke Greville's

murder.

Zutaten für 6 Portionen 180 Gramm braune Linsen 220 Gramm brauner Reis 250 Gramm Brokkoliröschen 230 Gramm Erbsen, frisch oder tiefgekühlt 1 Teelöffel Garam Masala 6 Stück Kardamomschoten 2 Stück Karotten, in Julienne-Streifen 2 Stück Knoblauchzehen, zerdrückt 1 Teelöffel Koriander, gemahlen 1 Teelöffel Kurkuma 2 Blatt Lorbeer 1 Stück rote Paprika, feingehackt 60 Milliliter Sonnenblumenöl 3 Stück Sternanis-Früchte 1 Teelöffel Zimt, gemahlen 1 Esslöffel Zitronensaft 1 Stück Zwiebel, feingehackt

Indischer

Linsensalat für Fasten

750 ml Wasser mit Reis, Linsen,

Kurkuma, Kardamom, Sternanis,

Lorbeerblättern und Zimt in

einen mittelgroßen Topf geben.

Verrühren und zum Kochen

bringen. Hitze drosseln, Deckel

auflegen und 50-60 Min. sachte

köcheln lassen, bis die

Flüssigkeit aufgesogen ist.

Kardamom, Sternanis und

Lorbeerblätter entfernen und

wegwerfen. Mischung in eine

große Schüssel geben. 2 EL des

Öls mit dem Zitronensaft

verquirlen und unter die

Reismischung ziehen.

Brokkoli und Karotten kochen

oder dämpfen, bis sie weich

sind. Abtropfen lassen und in

kaltes Wasser legen.

Restliches Öl in einer großen

Pfanne erhitzen und Zwiebel,

Knoblauch und Paprika

zugeben. 2-3 Min. rühren, dann

Garam Masala und Koriander

zugeben und weitere 1-2 Min.

unter Rühren braten. Gemüse

und Erbsen zufügen und gut

verrühren. In die Reismischung

geben und mit einer Gabel

durchrühren. Abdecken und kalt

stellen.

Dressing: 250 ml

Naturjoghurt, 1 EL Zitronensaft,

1 EL frische Minze, feingehackt,

1 TL Kreuzkümmelkörner, Salz,

Pfeffer. Joghurt, Zitronensaft,

Minze und Kreuzkümmelkörner

vermischen und mit Salz und

Pfeffer abschmecken.

Fruit Pizza

Ingredients: Cookie:

1/2 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

1 1/4 cups flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

Topping:

1 (25 dkg) package cream cheese

1/2 cup white sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 carton strawberries, sliced thinly

1 kiwi, sliced thinly

1 carton blackberries, halved

1 mango, sliced thinly

Instructions: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 3/4 cup

sugar until smooth, then add egg. In a separate bowl,

combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt,

then beat into creamed mixture until just blended. Chill

dough until it's easier to work with, about an hour, or longer

if you want. Preheat oven to 350. Press dough into an

ungreased pizza pan, or form into a circle 1/4 to 1/2-inch

thick on a large nonstick or greased cookie sheet. Bake for

about 10 minutes, until the edges of the cookie are golden

brown. Cool cookie completely, and if the cookie was on a

baking sheet, transfer carefully to serving plate (it's okay if

it breaks a little, the topping will hold it together!) In a large

bowl, beat cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla

until light. Spread on cooled crust, and arrange fruit on top

of filling. Keep chilled, slice and serve.
