Limitations of Government Funding• Pursues their mission, not ours. Though they may be aligned,
they aren’t the same.
• Government focuses resources on the lowest income families; we aim to be a resource for everybody.
• Government funds vulnerable to cuts, changes in administration, shifting priorities.
• Overhead allocation rules are inflexible and difficult to manage.
• No funding for increases in cost of doing business.
• Doesn’t pay for advocacy, fundraising, capacity for future program development.
