HEALTH & EDUCATION

UNIVERSITY OF PARDUBICE, CZECH REPUBLIC (2009)

Created after World War II, the University ofPardubice, in Czech Republic, today countsmore than 10,000 students. It prepares fordegrees in various subjects, like economics, computer technology, medecine or evenphilosophy, and it offers more than 160 specialisations.

CUSTOMER’S NEEDThe building's HVAC sytem had become obsolete, ithad to be replaced. Priority was given to compacity, discretion and modularity: indeed, the diversity of therooms of the building (lecture halls, offices, labs, libraries…) implied that the units installed enable totreat those places in a differentiated way.

‘S SOLUTIONThe HVAC system was totally corrected, with, inparticular, the installation of 2 SWR & CWP chillers.Indeed, using plate exchangers confers the chillers anunequalled compacity and a reduced occupation of thefloor area. The indoor units are ducted or ceilingfancoils; those models have a high longevity and arenot bulky.

TECHNICAL DETAILS2 chillers without condenser (1 x SWR 1902, 1 x CWP-RC 25), 38 wall splits, 37 fancoils (20 x VHF, 17 x AHC).Total cooling capacity: 600 kW.

UNIVERSITY OF CRÉTEIL, FRANCE (2008)

The University of Paris-Est Créteil Val de Marne isformed of 12 faculties and institutes, split among3 departements of the region Ile de France. Itshead offices are in Créteil, in a building that issimilar to the one that houses the council of thedepartment Val-de-Marne. The universityporposes courses insubjects like medecine,economics,languages,... More the27,600 students wereregistered in theuniversity in 2008.

CUSTOMER’S NEEDThe building that houses the university in Créteil was built in the1970's, and its HVAC system also dated back from this time. Thiscentralized system (2 condensing units connected to 2 chillersand one air handling unit) provided a fixed rate of fresh air, withno distinction between offices and lecture hall, which entailed alack of comfort among the occupying persons. The system's lackof reactivity and high energy cost made a refurbishement crucial.

& ‘S SOLUTIONTwo different systems were installed. On one hand, for the airtreatment of the offices and the lecture halls, Wesper proposed 2 reversible chillers that produce both hot and chilled water andwould be connected to compact "100% fresh air" air handlingunits. On the other hand, as far as comfort is concerned, 12 Airwell Flow Logic groups (VRF) that supply more than 100 ducted units were installed; in order to adapt to theintermittent occupation of the classrooms, the air flow is theretriggered by a presence sensor. Moreover, fouled air calories arereclaimed and restored in the liquid chilling packages. The wholeinstallation generated a 50% energy savings compared with theprevious HVAC system.

TECHNICAL DETAILS2 VLH 1204 chillers (Wesper) and 12 2-way VRF groups (outdoorunits: 12 x MFL 120; indoor units: 135 NDLP ducted units), 45 Wespak direct drive compact air handling units (Airwell).Total cooling capacity: 400 kW for VRF groups, 550 kW for chillers.Total air flow: 45,000 m3/h.

EDHEC BUSINESS SCHOOLNICE, FRANCE (2009)

CUSTOMER’S NEEDThe business school corrected its HVAC system, forthe previous one was obsolete. An emphasis was puton the power of the outdoor units installed (sincethey would serve the whole school) and the indoorunits' minimum bulkiness (they had to fit with thelayout the architect had planned). Furthermore, inorder to comply with the HQE (Haute QualitéEnvironnementale - High Environmental Quality)goals, the equipment provided had to consume aslittle energy as possible.

‘S SOLUTIONWesper proposed the EDHEC efficient VLH & AQTHchillers, whose EER are greater than 2.6. PR airhandling units completed this system, by ensuringthe air treatment. Eventually, all the indoor unitsproposed were ducted ones or cassettes, and theynaturally fitted into the layout of the place.

TECHNICAL DETAILS2 chillers (1 x VLH, 1 x AQTH), 10 Premi@ir airhandling units, 11 AHN ducted units, 30 chilledwater cassettes (6 x WKW, 24 Coanda effectcassettes).

HOSPITAL OF SANTA MARIAPORTO, PORTUGAL (2009)

CUSTOMER’S NEEDBecause of its wide space, the hospital needed apowerful thermic regulation system; yet, since therewere high constraints of air hygiene, the said systemalso had to ensure an efficient filtering of the micro-particules that might contaminate the premises.

‘S SOLUTIONThanks to the simulations lead on the WinClimselection software, Wesper proposed a combinationof Premi@ir & @irtwin air handling units for thisapplication. The purification efficiency of the former(which are equipped with high effiency filters, accordingly with the EN 1822 ranking) associatedwith the latter's flexibility of the air treatmentfunctions offered the hospital of Santa Maria a highperformance and precise equipment.

TECHNICAL DETAILS20 Premi@ir air handling units (PR 40, 60, 90, 120 &240) et 6 @irtwin air handling units (TR 40, 60 &120).Total air flow: 172,700 m3/h.

HOSPITAL OF EVREUX,FRANCE (2009)

CUSTOMER’S NEEDThe hospital was beingreconstructed, so as to improve theaccess to it and the care and also toinstall new surgical and medicalequipments; the replacement of theHVAC system was included in theseworks. Priority was given to airpurification and to the possibility foreach patient to regulate precisely hisroom temperature.

‘S SOLUTIONThe hospital was equipped withPremi@ir air handling units; theseunits ensure an efficient airtreatment and a total asepsis. What's more, cassettes wereinstalled in each room, theclimatisation could thus respond toeveryone's particular needs andcomfort.

TECHNICAL DETAILS80 Premi@ir air handling units & 300 cassettes.

PRIVATE HOSPITAL OFCHAMBERY, FRANCE (2009)

CUSTOMER’S NEEDSince the hospital is renowned, themain demand was the preservationof the quality of the care given, that's to say the garanty that thefuture air treatment system wouldprecisely filter particles, dust andmicrobes that might dirty andcontaminate the premises.

‘S SOLUTIONThe private hospital was equippedwith Premi@ir air handling units, whose solid and innovative designperfectly fitted the place. Theyprovided a steady air renewal, inparticular in rooms were surgicaloperations are carried out (surgicalunits, notably) which ensured thecleanliness of the air andparticipated in the prevention ofnosocomial infections.

BRETONNEAU HOSPITALTOURS, FRANCE (2007&2010)

CUSTOMER’S NEEDWe are here dealing with long-termrestructuring and expansionworks, which aim at confirming thehospital's being a major medical centreof its region. Since the new buildingswere to comply with the HQE goals, theHVAC system was to be energyefficient and eco-friendly, besides thecleanliness constraints inherent in anhospital ventilation system.

‘S SOLUTIONWesper proposed its Premi@ir airhandling units, which are ideal forhospital applications, thanks to theirH13 filters (categorized "very highefficiency" according to the EN 1822ranking). They have a heat recoverysystem that generate substantialenergy savings. All this wascompleted by the installation of adouble flow ventilation andcondensate drainage trays thatprevent water retention.
