“They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” – Andy Warhol

“Every school a great school”

Objectives:-

Goal is “every school a great school”, policy and practice must focus on System improvement. This means that school heads must be concerned about their own School.

Sustained Improvement of schools is not possible unless the whole System is moving forward.

It was felt necessary because the context and practice of school leadership is undergoing major changes in a short space of time.

The purpose of the case studies is to explore innovative practices in school leadership and their policy implications.

To explore about how HM is reacting in deferent situation or conditions.

To fulfill my quest about for learning about how conditions became hurdle in pace of growth?

NATURE OF THE PROBLEM (School Context

Types of Problems: He sometimes feels inferior to other teachers. Lack of staff’s support in starting something new innovation

7. CAUSES OF THE PROBLEM

Due to lack of Lack of experiences he requires some help in all type of documentations.

He is young in compression to others He belongs to SC community and other teacher even not sitting with him( He

told me & my observation)

8. EFFECTS OF THE PROBLEM ON THE HM and School:-

Page 5: Case study hm

He always afeard of taking any decision or initiatives for the development of school, which is becomes hurdle in the pace of development.

Other teacher don’t wants to support him because credit will goes to HM Due to such type of relation he was not ready to say for taking classis which

directly impact on quality of education. Relationship with community also was not good for school

INTERVENTION of PFEL (Fellow)

DIRECT INTERVENTION:-

During HM selection process in Ratangarh I met with him and he was willingly wanted to join PFEL. I along with my co-fellow tried to build a positive rapport with HM. There are some points which are related to direct intervention as..

A. CRYSTALLIZATION:- Firstly I tried to know the real causes of problem, what factors are responsible

behind this problem. I tried to know his trigger points What are the areas where I can intervene, which can become effective in the

light of programme also? Small changes made by the efforts of HM

B. SENSITIZATION:- About PFEL and its work and achievements Role of fellow and his work Leadership in the light of PFEL

C. MOTIVATION:- Appreciated him for his effective and positive rapport with students

Page 6: Case study hm

You are The ‘Role Model’ for other staff members and other schools. You have young energy to change the school and create an impact on society You are at such a position (HM), you are role model for school, students,

community, staff etc. HM is chosen by PFEL for a change in education system. HM is treated as a

leader (Head of Family) who deals with whole school. Why HM (you)? Fellow-HM -School - Students-Community. This is a circle which rotates.

SUGGESTIONS & ADVICES:-

Page 7: Case study hm

Although you want to do something as you told me but there is lack of support from staff is becoming hurdles in this regards, I can understand it but how we can get their support and what you can do yourself.

After individual talking or by interaction they also want to do something for school and they are ready to help in all regards as they can within their preview.

We can arrange a meeting with all staff members

INDIRECT INTERVENTION:

I along with the help of HM and staff went for a picnic near hill station (Dungri Pahari) after lunch. There is a Temple in which we all firstly pray with students. After exploring place I have arranged debrief with all staff and HM, in which I found they are happier in comparison to school. Shared their feeling and emotions one by one.

Recently I along with HM arranged a Frisbee game, which becomes millstone in making this relationship. Because I during game I observe specially defending and chasing time.

Page 8: Case study hm

First time celebrated ‘Republic Day’, in which HM came with me in front of all situations. Three Day before celebration I along with HM and staff made door to door visits. This event builds a faithful relationship among staff.

Principals Used During Case Study

Principal of Acceptance:-

Firstly I build positive rapport with HM and try to make friendly relationship. I accept HM with his problems and with his attitude.

Principle of Individualization:-

During this case study I treated HM as an individual. There may be different problems in group but how he is behaving individually. For instance how he is behaving with students in particular situations.

Principle of Non-judgmental Attitude:-

Page 9: Case study hm

During case study I put myself hold my emotions and feelings and not to jump on conclusion without any evidences.

Principle of Confidentiality:-

I made Promise with myself not to share it with anyone except professional who wants to do something like this cases. Who can help me and concern case.

Principle of Controlled Emotional Involvement:-

During this case study I control myself and emotions involvement. I made it for the

help of HM so that I can understand real situation.

Expected Outcomes

My own knowledge and understanding will be strong I can understand what are trigger points

of HM or from which points I can start intervention more effectively.

I can see or judge my own efforts where they are going.

I will be success in this activity.

Achievements:-

Now intervention became easy and focused

It helps me to set a target and get help from staffs

Relationship among staff became friendly More understanding of HM about programme and role of fellow. Build a positive rapport with HM and staff. Now trust of HM as well as mine become healthy It encourage me to do something more on the basis of HM and school needs It also helps me to understand emotions and feelings, what is suitable time to

discuss and which time I should hold mu discussion.

Observations:-

HM has passion for change himself according to situation, He wants to do something but fear about taking any type of risk.

His perception towards the activities is changing day by day. There were some pre incidents were took place during his school as collage

days related to caste discrimination as he belongs to SC community. He has very limited knowledge and quest for learning and this is opportunity

for me to link him with available resources. His attitude toward fearful environment and authority is cause of his social

conditionings. Senior teacher of school was HM from 2004 to 2011, he becomes simple. He

wants to take all power in his hand as before. He belongs to upper caste that’s why he behaves like this.

Analysis:-

I along with the help of PL and fellow want to conduct some more activity and try to provide motivational story or SLMs.

I am planning to conduct more workshops on relationship. Although there is caste system even they do want to sit together but now they

stared to eating together during lunch. This shows how their relationship becomes friendly.

We should not jump on the solution rather should be in situation, it helps in understanding and taking action.

Frisbee helps me to removing caste discrimination and I would like to introduce some more game like this.

Conclusion
