Slide 15 Specific Graduation Requirements for Future Ready Core (FRC) English I, II, III, IV4 Math4 Science (Earth, Biology, Physical) 3 Social Studies (World History, Civics & Economics, US History) 3 Healthful Living1 Electives 11 TOTAL26 ******These are minimum graduation requirements.****** Slide 16 Electives: 2 elective credits needed from: Career and Technical Education Arts Education Second Languages You can choose to concentrate in one of the following areas: Career and Technical Education (CTE) Arts Education any other subject area (Math, Science, Social Studies, English) Slide 17 Honors & AP Classes Please take your teachers recommendation into consideration when registering for next years courses. If you are unsure whether or not you can handle the rigor of an honors or AP class, please talk to your teacher, as they best know the curriculum and study time/homework time. Slide 18 University of North Carolina System Admission (Minimum) Requirements By satisfying FRC graduation requirements you will meet minimum requirements for UNC System Schools, except that you will need to take 2 consecutive levels of a foreign language. By the year 2013, the minimum requirements for admission will be a 2.5 GPA and 800 SAT (Critical Reading & Mathematics) or 17 ACT. Slide 19 NC Scholars This is not a monetary scholarship, but a seal that will appear on your high school diploma designating that you are a NC Scholar. Qualifications needed to be a NC Scholar: Unweighted 3.5 G.P.A. English IEarth/Environmental English IIChemistry/Physics English IIIArts course English IVForeign Language 1 Algebra IForeign Language 2 GeometryAdvanced Elective Algebra IIAdvanced Elective Higher MathCTE course Biology Slide 20 Schedule Change Requests Students are expected to take courses which they registered for (primary and/or alternate selections) If there is a scheduling error, a schedule change request can be made via the students SPAN account. You will receive an accepted, denied, or need more information--response from your school counselor. Check the email address you use for SPAN regularly. Slide 21 Athletic Eligibility 85% Attendance required during the semester prior. Under 19 on or before October 16th Must have passed 3 courses during the previous semester Must maintain overall 1.5 GPA Must not be convicted of a felony Must live in the school district and enroll no later than the15th day of the present semester Slide 22 Transcripts This is PERSONAL INFORMATION keep it private! Site can also be used to apply to many schools in NC. Search for colleges by region or major. Search for careers & take interest inventories.
