Page 6: Capability Document New 2016

Hudson consultants typically have a number of years’ recruitment industry experience and many also have

industry experience; for example many of our Accounting and Finance team are qualified accountants and a

number of qualified lawyers make up our Legal practice. This allows our consultants to understand the

requirements of the roles they are recruiting for intimately and also helps them to build strong relationships

with hiring managers and candidates alike.

Hudson consultants will also focus on an area of the market, for example the Public Sector, Commerce and

Industry etc. as we are aware that cultures vary dramatically as do the demands of the clients depending on

sector. This deep specialisation allows us to build relationships built on trust, backed up by delivering on what

we have said we will do for our clients.

We source candidates for a mix of permanent, temporary and interim positions using a range of

methodologies from print and online advertising, networking and established selection methods to find the

best people for our clients.

Other Services / Value AddsHudson can provide a number of additional services to further enhance your recruitment processes.

Hudson Talent ManagementAt Hudson, we have over 32 years’ experience in advising and supporting our clients to optimise

organisational performance through people. Every year we invest in research and development, creating

powerful solutions and tools to help you get the most from your talent.

Our clients look to us for support when they need to:

Our Talent Management division partner with our recruitment consultants and clients around the world to

design and deliver bespoke assessment and testing strategies to ensure our client’s recruit and retain the best

talent. We utilise a range of tools including our Pulse Assessment, psychometric and business simulation

assessments to help our client’s mitigate the risk of making a poor recruitment decision.

The team can produce comprehensive reports from our assessment findings which offer deep insights into

your shortlisted candidates’ behavioural preferences, motivation and potential. Our reports can also assist with

the onboarding process by providing management and development tips to help our clients support their new

talent.

6

Page 8: Capability Document New 2016

Our recruitment consultants recently partnered with Talent Management to produce Pulse reports for

candidates shortlisted for a Director role at Boehringer Ingelheim; we also utilised our Business Attitudes

Questionnaire (BAQ) to assist HM Revenue and Customs with recruiting and retaining the best Head of

Commercial Law for their business.

Hudson Pulse AssessmentHudson’s unique Pulse platform integrates various psychometric assessments to deliver a time-efficient,

flexible and cost-effective solution, while still providing valuable insight regarding fundamental capability to

make informed talent decisions. It is a consistent, transparent, fair and objective tool to support recruitment

processes and add further information to consider when making selection decisions.

The following proprietary Hudson assessments can be delivered through the Pulse online platform:

Personality Assessment (a British Psychological Society Registered Test)

Motivational Questionnaire

Cognitive Ability Assessments, including abstract, numerical and verbal reasoning tests.

Hudson’s Pulse platform automatically combines all assessment results into one, easy to read report. Results

are reported against competencies; helping you to understand how preferences and ability can translate into

work-related behaviours. The following reports are available:

Selection: for HR and Hiring Managers and includes

tailored competency-based interview questions for

probing

Development: candidate feedback report, including

specific tips and development advice on how to build

capability based on their assessment results

Coaching: for Line Managers and provides targeted on-

boarding advice on how to support and grow areas of

potential

Furthermore, our Pulse reports are tailored to your specific role profiles, ensuring the assessments delivered

are aligned to your role requirements and critical success factors. Tailored role profiles provide an even better

understanding of candidate ‘fit’ and are created using the Hudson 5+1 Capability Framework, which can be

aligned to many third party or client-specific competency frameworks. Creating a tailored Pulse profile is ideal

for high demand, critical or often-assessed roles and can be used for benchmarking and analysis to identify

factors that distinguish between high and low performance.

Page 9: Capability Document New 2016

Hudson Executive is an executive search and selection recruitment service for senior positions and business

critical hires across the UK.

We work in partnership with our clients to design and implement a bespoke executive search strategy. Our

solutions are delivered by experienced, insightful executive recruitment professionals, supported by a powerful

range of proprietary tools and assessments – all underpinned by a rigorous scientific approach to research

and development.

Our robust approach helps ensure that our clients have the right leaders and high potential people in place to

deliver against your corporate and commercial objectives. Helping to mitigate the risk of failure in hiring,

retaining and developing business critical leaders.

The first few weeks and months in a new role can be critical determinants of future success. Armed with the

output of our robust testing programme, our Talent Management specialists work with our clients to devise

and implement a bespoke onboarding programme with the specific aim of integrating new recruits into the

organisation as quickly as possible.

Thought LeadershipAcross the UK Hudson contributes to labour market research to independent bodies that then aggregate our

response with other commentaries on the market. We regularly contribute to the KPMG Monthly Report, from

this we are able to access up to the minute data we can share with CLIENT. We also work with APSCo and

the REC to contribute to publications and sector focus groups.

Our website has a section dedicated to ‘Latest Thinking’ articles which are written by our consultants on a

variety of recruitment topics. Hudson’s R&D department regularly uses the data (anonymous) captured from

our various assessments, and works with leading European Universities to produce White Papers and

Thought Leadership on a wide range of topics such as ‘Women in Leadership’, ‘Generational Differences’ and

‘Emerging Leaders’ to name a few.

Bespoke Management InformationUnlike most of our competitors who have adapted existing systems to suit their business, Hudson has

developed our own internal CRM system, TalentDesk (TDK). TDK is a single front office system for Europe

8

Page 10: Capability Document New 2016

and allows access to European management information to service opportunities. TDK is the first recruitment

CRM system to be powered by the Google search engine, and allows ranking by importance and highlighting

keywords in less than five seconds.

TDK enables our consultants to produce comprehensive, detailed reports for clients that are presented

consistently on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis. Reports can be provided in Excel and Word formats and

customised to meet your operational needs and time lines.

The following KPIs are typically reported to clients:

Requirements received (Volume, Job Title, Functional Area, Business Unit, Location)

Candidates submitted

Number of interviews requested / held

Number of offers made

Number of offers accepted

Average time between candidate submission and first interview occurring

Average time between first and second interview

Weekly or Monthly MI reports will be agreed at Contract Award stage and form part of our jointly agreed

Service Levels. The format and frequency of the reports will also be agreed. Quarterly and bi-annual reports

can provide consolidated reports (searchable through pivot/drop downs) which offers clients the opportunity to

manage reporting at functional levels or by location.

Market IntelThe Hudson Account Management Team continually monitor and assess recruitment techniques, market

rates, industry changes and performance issues. Hudson undertake on-going industry sector specific research

to enhance our position as knowledge/thought leaders and equip our consultants with the information they

need to develop a true understanding of the dynamics of the sectors in which their clients are working.

EventsWe undertake numerous events across Hudson; we partner with SMES to host employment law update

events which provide overviews on developments in employment legislation and we also hold events to

engage our clients in our thought leadership programmes.

Account ManagementAt Hudson we firmly believe that building effective partnerships with our clients is essential. This process

begins by investing considerable time in gaining knowledge of every aspect that makes your business unique

by really understanding your culture, history, values, vision, company structure and most importantly your

people.

skills our clients requires for the roles. Our searches typically utilise a range of online and offline recruitment

channels comprising:

suitable leadership individuals.

10

Page 12: Capability Document New 2016

Hudson has a large and robust network of both clients and candidates, which has been developed over 20

years of recruitment across both private and public sectors and all industries. Hudson is a well-known brand in

the specialist press and attends sector specialist events and local networking groups.

We have found that a proactive campaign to target potential candidates significantly increases your chances

of filling a role at the first attempt. Engaging with our networks has proved very effective in similar campaigns

and over 40% of our placed candidates are identified in this way.

ReferralsIt is not unusual for clients to recommend colleagues who are seeking new opportunities or for active

candidates to refer their contemporaries. Most importantly, our reputation for professionalism and honesty in

the market allows us to continually develop this network and constantly regenerate our candidate pool.

Social NetworkingThere is a considerable amount of detail that can be obtained from networking sites including career paths,

employee population and analysis, new hires and key employees. All of our consultants undertake a

mandatory 9 part external training programme on the use of LinkedIn to ensure that they are able to maximise

their use of this resource. Many of our consultants also operate their own LinkedIn groups to help pool

relevant candidates in their chosen area of expertise

Our Hudson LinkedIn page has over 177,000 members, a growth of 50% from the previous year, and had

over 25,000 views in 2015, an increase of 270% from 2014. We were also voted the 4th Most Socially

Engaged Recruitment Company in the world by LinkedIn, demonstrating our global reach and ability to

engage with clients and candidates.

Job BoardsTo back up our proactive searching we would advertise the roles on a number of websites. Advertising across

role/sector specific and general job boards will ensure we cover as much of the market as possible.

Hudson Digital Solutions is our on-line advertising option that utilises a range of recruitment sites which are

not only the most popular, but best suited sites for these positions, individually tailored to your requirements.

This is a value-for-money and effective way of maximising awareness in the candidate market. All vacancies

are advertised on Hudson’s website where we also offer expert advice to employers (including information

about Hudson events, salary guides) and job seekers (CV and Interview advice etc.).

11

Page 13: Capability Document New 2016

Hudson Website and DatabaseHudson has an excellent website with the capacity to create ‘featured jobs’ with branded banners from our

home page.

Our database has been formulated as a direct result of previous search activity and ongoing investment in

innovative advertising, internet and marketing campaigns. Each candidate who registers their interest with

Hudson is loaded on to our database where comprehensive details are recorded and key skills are coded.

Searching on our database allows the consultant to pinpoint exact skills of both active and inactive

candidates, in addition to providing a valuable source from which we carry out strategic networking and bring

about referrals for the skills you require. Hudson’s database has over 900,000 registered candidates globally.

Our focus is on maintaining a neat database and data integrity so we are able to effectively search throughout

our extensive national databases. This enables us to source additional potential candidates open to re-

location, as well as utilising contracts, clients and existing candidates to bolster the candidate pool
