3-5 Year Old Summer Camp

Week 1 (June 25-29)Class: Over The Rainbow Cost: $225 ($199 Early Bird Special) hours: 8am - 12pmDescription: Dreams really do come true! Our first week of camp includes lots and lots of art to explore color, color and more color. Hands on activities, games and crafts will keep the little ones busy and having fun. Our week ends with a visit from Dorothy and her dog Toto!

Week 2 (No camps this week)

Week 3 (July 9-13)Class: Zookeepers Cost: $225 ($199 Early Bird Special) hours: 8am - 12pmDescription: Zebras, elephants and monkeys, oh my! It is all about animals this week. Some are old favorites and some are “gnu” to us. Either way, kids will love learning about our furry friends. Fun Friday includes a visit from Dave the Reptile Man- and his scaly friends!

Week 4 (July 16-20)Class: Wild West Cost: $225 ($199 Early Bird Special) hours: 8am - 12pmDescription: Wanted!...kids for an action packed adventure week. Grab you boots and get ready for some fun as we explore the wild west. The week rounds up with a visit from a real cowgirl who will teach us how to lasso and lead the hoe down on Friday! Don’t miss out y’all.

Week 5 (July 23-27)Class: Carnival Cost: $225 ($199 Early Bird Special) hours: 8am - 12pmDescription: This week will be “The Greatest Camp on Earth!” Games, crafts, snacks and so much more. Everyday will be packed with excitement. The week wraps up with a visit from a our favorite friend Mary Macaroni. She will put on a show complete with face painting and balloons for everyone.

Week 6 (July 20-AuGuST 3)Class: Beach Week Cost: $225 ($199 Early Bird Special) hours: 8am - 12pmDescription: Pack your sunglasses, put on your bathing suit and don’t forget your towel! This week is sure to be a splashin’ good time. Campers will engage in a variety of “beach” activities...get ready for some fun in the sun. We will end our week with a beach party picnic!

SCHeDule: We are thrilled to be back for our 4th summer at AACA! 2012 will be the best yet with bigger and better themes! Each week is packed with fun activities, games and crafts and of course FUN FRIDAYS are back by popular demand. We will welcome special guest performers every Friday to put on a unique show for all of our smallest campers. Of course the popsicles and sprinkler will be ready to rock every Friday as well.

Week 1 (June 25-29 )

Class: Mad ScientistsTeacher: Clare PasquesiDescription: Ever wonder how scientists learn about the world around them? This program is designed to encourage students to think and act like a scientist, gathering and organizing information about the world around them. Activities will help students learn how “science” is all around them, how to study the world the way scientists do, and, above all, how to have fun with science!

Class: Tell YOUR Story Through PhotographyTeacher: Aimee IwersenDescription: Become a photographer! Participants will learn about the basics of photography aesthetics and how to use a digital camera. We will take a look at famous photographers that are able to tell a story through photographs. Throughout the week, students will take photographs and edit them digitally. They will then select a series of final prints to assemble in their very own photography book that tells their unique story!

Class: Marvelous Masters-Drawing & PaintingTeacher: Julie OlsenDescription: This class is packed with a variety of exciting visual arts projects. In a calm, encouraging environment, students will learn how to look at lines, shapes, sizes, textures, lights and darks. Using pencils, charcoal and chalk pastels, they will amaze themselves with the results. Students will also learn to work with color to create modern masterpieces!

Week 2 (July 2-6) (no class July 4,5)

Class: Curtain Call- Reader’s Theatre AdventureTeacher: Julie OlsenDescription: Enter an interactive world of exploration as students discover the power of words and storytelling. Students will examine many books that take them on grand adventures and help transform their imaginations and senses! They will even “act out” some of our most fascinating literature!

Students will be challenged to tell stories originally written through creative moments and dance. Campers will be exposed to the “language of dance” and how they can express themselves through getting their bodies into motion!! Let’s Dance!

Each week, students will enjoy learning about exciting new ideas as they will rotate through the class offerings. All students will have ample opportunity to grow and learn new skills at their own pace. There are no class repeats, each

section has new material! Sign up for all 6 weeks.

Class: Stationary WorkshopTeacher: Aimee IwersenDescription: Based on the art of woodblock printing, students will create their very own stamps to use for printing. After the stamps are designed, each student will use them to create their own personal stationary set. At the end of the class, each student will leave with at least one complete personal set of stationary!

Class: Fabric SculpturesTeacher: Patty OkulinskiiDescription: Make a Fabric Statue! Learn how to make a human body sculpture from skeleton to full body through careful but fun building using fabric as your tool.

Class: Rockin’ To Your Own TuneTeacher: Sami Halma and Ellen DohanDescription: Are you the next American Idol? Let’s get together and sing some of the hits of 2011-2012. Find your spotlight and record our class CD, so you can rock out all summer to your tunes. Singers of all levels are welcome!

Week 4 July 16-20

Class: Create a Teddy BearTeacher: Aimee IwersenDescription: In this class, students will learn the basics of hand sewing. They will learn how to thread a needle, stitch, and stuff their own toy. At the end of the class, each student will have at least one teddy bear of their very own to take home!

Class: DessertsTeacher: Sami HalmaDescription: Like to bake cookies, cakes and cupcakes? Want to learn how to make your own desserts at home? We will learn how to choose ingredients, measure, mix and bake different deserts. Make sure to bring your spoon and your sweet tooth.

Class: Building and DesignTeacher: Clare PasquesiDescription: Calling all builders! This program will help students begin to think like an engineer. We will design, construct, build, and test several projects throughout this week. Come with your ideas and get ready to build!

Class: Cut and SewTeacher: Patty OkulinskiiDescription: Learn how to sew! Learn the skills and techniques of sewing. Learn how to use a thread and needle. We will learn how to pick and design your own fabric. At the end of the week you will make your own tote bag or pillow case.

Class: Seven Habits of Happy KidsTeacher: Sami Halma and Ellen DohanDescription: Are your kids living and breathing examples of principles like being proactive or synergizing? Join Goob Bear, Sammy Squirrel, Jumper Rabbit and more as they learn life lessons using, acting out, and illustrating the 7 habits of happy kids. We’ll teach your kids the power of living by principles, and they’ll get a kick out of the fun that is in store for them.

Week 1 (June 25-29 )

Class: What’s Happening in the World Today?Teacher: Chris PetersenDescription: Students will engage in the most effective ways of researching current events and share this news through digital media, creating a ‘living history’ newscast, discussing current events and issues that are directly and indirectly affecting their lives. Students will also learn what it means to become an informed citizen through practice at accessing internet news sources as well as identifying and utilizing credible sources of information.

Class: Hip Hop Teacher: Victor HicksDescription: This class is suitable for both beginner students as well as those dancers looking to tighten their moves! Campers will learn a new set of combinations and mini-routines in every class, progressing into a more intricate choreography piece designed for stage performances. All dancers will enjoy creating and moving together through out this session!

Class: Rocket Cast Part 1Teacher: Rob YapleDescription: Do you know what a podcast is? Join us in “Rocket Cast!” to find out! Students will work together as a team to record, edit, and produce an original podcast. Using Garage Band, students will record their voices, compose jingles, and even add photos and video to make unique projects. At the end of the week, projects will be put on CD for each student to take home. Beginners and Garage Band pros are welcome to join the Rocket Cast team!

Class: Alebrijes SculpturesTeacher: Patty OkulinskiDescription: Make an Alebrije sculpture, create your own creature! Alebrijes are brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastical creatures. Come learn about this interesting form of art and get ready to use your imagination!

Class: Rocket Cast Part 2Teacher: Rob YapleDescription: Do you know what a podcast is? Join us in “Rocket Cast!” to find out! Students will work together as a team to record, edit, and produce an original podcast. Using Garage Band, students will record their voices, compose jingles, and even add photos and video to make unique projects. Now is your chance! Using Garage Band, students will use a variety of sound clips, instruments, and recording techniques to produce an original themed soundtrack. At the end of the session, students will take home a CD with all of the soundtracks on it as a keepsake. Beginners & experienced “soundtrackers” welcome!

Class: Performance Hip Hop Dance ClassTeacher: Victor HicksDescription: Students will learn the history of hip hop, learning beginner’s steps along the way. Through this week, students will work as a class to choreograph a hip hop performance and will leave with a new appreciation for the art of hip hop as well as improved skill at performing hip hop dance moves!Class: Stop Motion AnimationTeacher: Julie TutenDescription: The art of animation will be taught using iMovie. Students will create their own characters and make them come to life using a camera, still photos, music, sound effects and animations. Students will have fun and learn that it takes 24 still photos to create one second of film animation. Film makers will have the choice of using clay, painting, drawing or Legos to create their animations! Each student will go home with a DVD of their project.

Week 4 July 16-20

Class: Soundtrack of your lifeTeacher: Rob Yaple Description: Ever wanted to make a soundtrack for a movie, or tv show? Or how about a soundtrack inspired by your favorite book? Now is your chance! Using Garage Band, students will use a variety of sound clips, instruments, and recording techniques to produce an original themed soundtrack. At the end of the session, students will take home a CD with all of the soundtracks on it as a keepsake. Beginners & experienced “soundtrackers” welcome!

Class: Mosaic GlassTeacher: Patty OkulinskiiDescription: Make a cut glass Mosaic with gems and found objects!

Class: Stomp the Yard: Stepping and Hip HopTeacher: Victor HicksDescription: This week, students will focus on combining the exciting dance forms of step and hip hop. Students will be introduced to the very popular art of “stepping” combined with the upbeat and smooth tunes of today’s hip hop artists. Students will work on choreographing their own routine by week’s end. Get ready for a fast-paced and exciting week!

Week 5 July 23-27

Class: Garage Band JamsTeacher: Rob Yaple Description: Using a variety of pre-recorded loops, software instruments, and recording and sound editing techniques, students will create original musical compositions using the computer software Garage Band. Each class, students will learn new techniques and tools for making their creative vision come alive. At the end of the week, each student will received a CD recording featuring compositions by the class. A great class for those new to Garage Band as well as experienced veterans!

Class: SilkscreeningTeacher: Patty OkulinskiiDescription: Learn the basics of Silkscreening and design your own T-SHIRT!!

Class: Choreography of Life!Teacher: Victor HicksDescription: Students will be challenged to choreograph a piece of dance that best represents themselves. Middle schoolers can use original compositions or current songs to speak through movement. Various genres of dance will be explored.

Week 6 July 30-AuG 3

Class: Garage Band Jams: The B sidesTeacher: Rob Yaple Description: (see week 5 description)

Class: Got Guts?Teacher: AACA StaffDescription: What do an earthworm, rat and bird all have common? What can we learn about ourselves by taking a peek inside to see how these organisms work? Just like us, or different from us? Why? What do the insides of these organisms look like? How are they different? How are they alike? What does the inside of an eyeball look like? Let’s find out! Scalpels up!

Week 1 June 25-29, Basketball: Players will work on ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, individual moves and footwork. Our coaches will cover the fundamentals in a fun and safe environment. We will work on every part of your child’s game. Team concept and sportsmanship will also be covered.

Week 2 July 2-6, Basketball (no 7/4, 7/5): Players will work on ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, individual moves and footwork. Our coaches will cover the fundamentals in a fun and safe environment. Students will learn the rules of basketball, how to be a good teammate and the fundamentals of basketball.

Week 3 July 9-13 Soccer: Players will work on dribbling, passing and shooting. Coaches will also cover positioning and strategies of playing team soccer. Students will learn the rules of soccer, how to be a good teammate and the fundamentals of soccer.

Week 4 July 16-20 Volleyball: Players will work on passing, hitting and blocking. Coaches will also teach positioning on the court, and how to play together as a team. Students will learn the rules of volleyball, how to be a good teammate and the fundamentals of volleyball.

Week 5 July 23-27 Volleyball: Players will work on passing, hitting and blocking. Coaches will also teach positioning on the court, and how to play together as a team. Students will learn the rules of volleyball, how to be a good teammate and the fundamentals of volleyball.

Week 6 July 30-Aug 3 Conditioning: Get ready for fall sports! This camp students will do many activities to help them prepare for the upcoming sports season. We will focus on conditioning, core building and team building. Great for any fall sport athlete.

Athletic Camphours: 12:30 - 3:30 pm; Grades: 1-8; Cost: $175/week (No camp July 4 &5. The price for that week is $105)

CAMP ARRIVAL: All morning campers must be dropped off at the playground entrance on Greenview at time designated. Camp instructors will be outside to greet the children. All children must be signed in at drop off. Athletic campers must be dropped off at the entrance to the school gym at 12:30 and signed in at drop off.

PICk-uP POLICY:• Pick up will take place with a designated Staff member signing out all kids daily. Please

notify the main office if you are running late. In the event that you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be charged $1 per minute for late pick ups.

• All morning campers will be picked up at the playground entrance on Greenview at 12:00 pm (noon) for grades 1-8.
