  • Camp Mosaic

    Basic Information! Camp Mosaic is a six day summer camp for 6-13 year old Ismailis that happens in

    every region of the US" Camp Mosaic is run as a program under Jubilee Monuments Corp., a non-profit

    organization and Ismaili Institution that is also home to Al-Ummah, College Program on Islam, Global Encounters, and Legacy: A Step Camp Experience "

    Purpose. To create a constantly evolving, progressive, and self sustaining project based upon a vision for the future of the youth in the American Ismaili Muslim Jamat. The projects primary goals are two-fold:" First, the project seeks to help participants develop skills and express themselves

    in an enabling environment based on Islamic values" Second, it aims to provide leadership skills to the teams responsible for planning,

    designing, and implementing Camp Mosaic and to the Jamat at large"

    Impact Objectives. Camp Mosaic aims to impact its stakeholders in the following ways:" Build meaningful relationships and build community" Ensure internalization of values" Teach useful skills" And, of course have fun!

    " Camp History"

    The first Camp Mosaic was held in 1995 in Atlanta" Camp Mosaic was preceded by a camp called Al-Sahar, which happened in the

    summer of 1994" Camp Mosaic will celebrate its 20th anniversary in the summer of 2015

    " Results!

    In recent years, weve had as many as 1,400 participants and 850+ volunteers across 12 camps in 9 cities"

    Weve able to show measurable impact on participants who attend Camp"

    1. Camp Mosaic is part of Jubilee Monuments Corp (JMC) a nonprofit and Ismaili Institution that manage five camps. | 2. Chief of Staff does not have a formal team, but will manage many volunteers working on special projects | 3. Counselors, Guides, and Staff (CGS) are local volunteers at each camp | 4. Learning and Development (L&D) includes official training weekends and on-going support | 5. The Local Project Team (LPT) for each camp is comprised of the Project Manager (PM), Content Facilitator (CF), Logistics Coordinator (LC), and Marketing and Resources Manager (MRM)"

    The following is a sample of roles that various teams will have. Final roles and team structures will be decided by each team lead but individuals may apply to specific teams now and state role preferences.!

  • Terms of reference: Director of Camp Curriculum

    Overview of role Term: 2 years Reports to: Na*onal Program Manager (NPM) General descrip6on of role: The Director of Camp Curriculum oversees development of par*cipant ac*vi*es and processes that local Content Facilitators (CFs) follow to implement content. Time commitment: 5-15 hours per week

    Responsibili6es The Director of Curriculum and his or her recruited team are responsible for the following: Research trends in educa*on, camps, and youth-

    based Ismaili Ins*tu*ons Develop strategies for each curriculum area (i.e., Self-

    Expression, Interpersonal Exchange, Sports, Swimming, Unique Encounters, and Skill Building)

    Finalize ac*vi*es to be used in Summer 2015, including original ac*vi*es or revamping older ones

    Experiment with new methods of curriculum delivery

    Desired a9ributes Minimum qualica6ons: 21+ years of age Background in Educa*on or Camp Mosaic content Ability to think crea*vely, coach team and manage *melines Preferred qualica6ons: Experience managing people in an ins*tu*onal capacity, extracurricular organiza*on or professionally Experience with or knowledge of child development or youth programming is a plus Experience in leadership roles with other volunteer programs, Jama* or otherwise

  • Terms of reference: Director of Volunteer Experience and Development (VXD)

    Overview of role Term: 2 years Reports to: Na*onal Program Manager (NPM) General descrip6on of role: The Director of VXD will oversee personal development of all volunteers throughout Camp, from Counselors and Guides to NPT members, ensuring a posi*ve experience that leads to eec*ve volunteers and individual growth. Time commitment: 5-15 hours per week

    Responsibili6es The Director of VXD and his or her recruited team are responsible for the following: Develop and implement training content for

    Counselors, Guides and Sta, LPTs, Magicians, and NPT

    Experiment with new methods of onboarding and knowledge transfer (e.g., e-learning, pre-work, self-directed training)

    Develop feedback and personal development best prac*ces, frameworks and processes

    Desired a9ributes Minimum qualica6ons: 21+ years of age Background in Human Resources, L&D, or Training, or experience as a Camp Mosaic Magician Experience managing people in an ins*tu*onal capacity, extracurricular organiza*on or professionally Ability to communicate eec*vely, coach team and manage *melines Preferred qualica6ons: Experience in leadership roles with other volunteer programs, Jama* or otherwise

    Overview of role Term: 2 years Reports to: Na*onal Program Manager (NPM) General descrip6on of role: The Director of Marke*ng will oversee the communica*on of Camp Mosaics value to poten*al par*cipants, parents, and sta members through various channels and media. Time commitment: 5-15 hours per week

    Responsibili6es The Director of Marke*ng and his or her recruited team are responsible for the following: Develop and execute marke6ng strategy na*onally,

    including understanding key demographics and compe**ve landscape

    Enable local Marke6ng and Resources Managers (MRMs) at each Camp to eec*vely market in their respec*ve regions

    Develop on-going partnerships with ins*tu*onal partners (e.g., ECDC, REC, Youth Volunteers)

    Desired a9ributes Minimum qualica6ons: 21+ years of age Background in Marke*ng, Adver*sing, or Camp Mosaic Marke*ng Ability to think crea*vely, coach team, and execute eec*vely Preferred qualica6ons: Professional experience in Marke*ng or Adver*sing Experience managing people in an ins*tu*onal capacity, extracurricular organiza*on or professionally Experience in leadership roles with other volunteer programs, Jama* or otherwise

    Overview of role Term: 2 years Reports to: Na*onal Program Manager (NPM) General descrip6on of role: The Director of Camp Management (formerly known as the Lead Na*onal Camp Manager) oversees managing Local Project Teams (LPTs) and the execu*on of Camps. Time commitment: 5-15 hours per week

    Responsibili6es The Director of Camp Management and his or her recruited team are responsible for the following: Recruit, manage, and support LPTs Coach PMs in leading their LPTs Act as liaison between LPTs, various NPT roles, and

    Local Councils Develop processes to manage and mi6gate risks

    Desired a9ributes Minimum qualica6ons: 21+ years of age Experience as a Magician, Na*onal Camp Manager, or other NPT role Ability to manage people and processes, coach teams, and manage *melines Preferred qualica6ons: Experience managing people in an ins*tu*onal capacity, extracurricular organiza*on or professionally Experience in leadership roles with other volunteer programs, Jama* or otherwise

    Overview of role Term: 2 years Reports to: Na*onal Program Manager (NPM) General descrip6on of role: The Director of Opera*ons enables na*onal and local Mosaic teams to work more eec*vely through streamlined processes, increased use of technology, and access to data for decision making. Time commitment: 5-15 hours per week

    Overview of role Term: 2 years Reports to: Na*onal Program Manager (NPM) General descrip6on of role: The Chief of Sta will oversee the project management of Camp priori*es, organiza*on wide communica*ons, and managing special projects. Time commitment: 5-15 hours per week

    Responsibili6es The Chief of Sta is responsible for the following: Project management of NPT priori*es Communica6ng updates as appropriate throughout

    organiza*on Develop process for execu6ng special projects and

    manage individuals working on one-o projects

    Desired a9ributes Minimum qualica6ons: 21+ years of age Background in Project Management, Volunteer Management or Camp Mosaic LPT Ability to manage complex processes, mass communicate, and manage *melines Preferred qualica6ons: Experience in leadership roles with other volunteer programs, Jama* or otherwise Comfort holding peer-level team members accountable for deliverables and *melines
