PENITENTIAL ACT I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. Amen.

THE NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. First Reading Exodus 17:3-7 A reading from the Book of Exodus In those days, in their thirst for water, the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "Why did you ever make us leave Egypt? Was it just to have us die here of thirst with our children and our livestock?" So Moses cried out to the LORD, "What shall I do with this people? a little more and they will stone me!" The LORD answered Moses, "Go over there in front of the people, along with some of the elders of Israel, holding in your hand, as you go, the staff with which you struck the river. I will be standing there in front of you on the rock in Horeb. Strike the rock, and the water will flow from it for the people to drink." This Moses did, in the presence of the elders of Israel. The place was called Massah and Meribah, because the Israelites quarreled thereand tested the LORD, saying, "Is the LORD in our midst or not?" The word of the Lord Thanks be to God. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For Christ, while we were still helpless, died at the appointed time for the ungodly.

Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person, though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. Gospel Acclamation CF. Gospel John 4:5-15, 19B-26, 39A, 40-42 A reading from the holy Gospel according to John Jesus came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there. Jesus, tired from his journey, sat down there at the well. It was about noon. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink." His disciples had gone into the town to buy food. The Samaritan woman said to him, "How can you, a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?" —For Jews use nothing in common with Samaritans.—Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God and who is saying to you, 'Give me a drink, ' you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." The woman said to him, "Sir, you do not even have a bucket and the cistern is deep; where then can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this cistern and drank from it himself with his children and his flocks?" Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water. "I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain; but you people say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem." Jesus said to her, "Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You people worship what you do not understand; we worship what we understand, because salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth." The woman said to him, "I know that the Messiah is coming, the one called the Christ; when he comes, he will tell us everything." Jesus said to her, "I am he, the one who is speaking with you." Many of the Samaritans of that town began to believe in him. When the Samaritans came to him, they invited him to stay with them; and he stayed there two days. Many more began to believe in him because of his word, and they said to the woman, "We no longer believe because of your word; for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the savior of the world." LECTURAS DEL DOMINGO Primera Lectura Éxodo 3, 1-8a. 13-15 Lectura del libro del Éxodo En aquellos días, Moisés pastoreaba el rebaño de su suegro, Jetró, sacerdote de Madián. En cierta ocasión llevó el rebaño más allá del desierto, hasta el Horeb, el monte de Dios, y el Señor se le apareció en una llama que salía de un zarzal. Moisés observó con gran asombro que la zarza ardía sin consumirse y se dijo: “Voy a ver de cerca esa cosa tan extraña, por qué la zarza no se quema”. Viendo el Señor que Moisés se había desviado para mirar, lo llamó desde la zarza: “¡Moisés, Moisés!” Él respondió: “Aquí estoy”. Le dijo Dios: “¡No te acerques! Quítate las sandalias, porque el lugar que pisas es tierra sagrada”. Y añadió: “Yo soy el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob”. Entonces Moisés se tapó la cara, porque tuvo miedo de mirar a Dios. Pero el Señor le dijo: “He visto la opresión de mi pueblo en Egipto, he oído sus quejas contra los opresores y conozco bien sus sufrimientos. He descendido para librar a mi pueblo de la opresión de los egipcios, para sacarlo de aquellas tierras y llevarlo a una tierra buena y espaciosa, una tierra que mana leche y miel”. Moisés le dijo a Dios: “Está bien. Me presentaré a los hijos de Israel y les diré: ‘El Dios de sus padres me envía a ustedes’; pero cuando me pregunten cuál es su nombre, ¿qué les voy a responder?” Dios le contestó a Moisés: “Mi nombre es Yo-soy”; y añadió: “Esto les dirás a los israelitas: ‘Yo-soy me envía a ustedes’. También les dirás: ‘El Señor, el Dios de sus padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac, el Dios de Jacob, me envía a ustedes’. Éste es mi nombre para siempre. Segunda Lectura 1 Corintios 10, 1-6. 10-12 Lectura de la primera carta del apóstol san Pablo a los corintios Hermanos: No quiero que olviden que en el desierto nuestros padres estuvieron todos bajo la nube, todos cruzaron el Mar Rojo y todos se sometieron a Moisés, por una especie de bautismo en la nube y en el mar. Todos comieron el mismo alimento milagroso y todos bebieron de la misma bebida espiritual, porque bebían de una roca espiritual que los acompañaba, y la roca era Cristo. Sin embargo, la mayoría de ellos desagradaron a Dios y murieron en el desierto. Todo esto sucedió como advertencia para nosotros, a fin de que no codiciemos cosas malas como ellos lo hicieron. No murmuren ustedes como algunos de ellos murmuraron y perecieron a manos del ángel exterminador. Todas estas cosas les sucedieron a nuestros antepasados como un ejemplo para nosotros y fueron puestas en las Escrituras como advertencia para los que vivimos en los últimos tiempos. Jesús les hizo este comentario: “¿Piensan ustedes que aquellos galileos, porque les sucedió esto, eran más pecadores que todos los demás galileos? Ciertamente que no; y si ustedes no se arrepienten, perecerán de manera semejante. Y aquellos dieciocho que murieron aplastados por la torre de Siloé, ¿piensan acaso que eran más culpables que todos los demás habitantes de Jerusalén? Ciertamente que no; y si ustedes no se arrepienten, perecerán de manera semejante”. Entonces les dijo esta parábola: “Un hombre tenía una higuera plantada en su viñedo; fue a buscar higos y no los encontró. Dijo entonces al viñador: ‘Mira, durante tres años seguidos he venido a buscar higos en esta higuera y no los he encontrado. Córtala. ¿Para qué ocupa la tierra inútilmente?’ El viñador le contestó: ‘Señor, déjala todavía este año; voy a aflojar la tierra alrededor y a echarle abono, para ver si da fruto. El grupo de jóvenes “The Saints” están participando activamente en el Via Crusis todos los viernes durante este tiempo de Cuaresma, tiempo de reflexión, seguido de una reunión de desarrollo como grupo. Cada mes estaremos saliendo fuera para hacer una reunión mas divertida y amena para

nuestros jóvenes. Estamos muy contentos del regreso de nuestro guía espiritual Padre Angel Anaya! Bienvenido Padre Angel! Eventos con los jovenes: El grupo de jóvenes “The Saints” les invitan a un rosario y Misa por la paz el día 5 de abril a las 5:30pm en la Parroquia San Antonio; comenzaremos con un Rosario, seguido por la Misa a las 6pm. Queridos amigos: La frase en la foto viene de Oseas 2, 14. Es Dios hablando a su pueblo (y a cada uno de nosotros) invitándonos a un camino más profundo de conversión y de oración. Durante Cuaresma, una de las serias invitaciones que la iglesia nos hace es acercarnos a Dios para tener una experiencia más personal y profunda. Una experiencia de Dios que no va más allá de la lectura de oraciones, novenas o libros espirituales, es una experiencia incompleta que se queda en los medios de oración, pero que no va al fin de la oración que es entrar en un contacto personal y directo con Dios. En la biblia encontramos muchos ejemplos de personas que escucharon la voz de Dios y cumplieron su voluntad. Ellos escucharon en el silencio de su corazón, estuvieron atentos a la respuesta que Dios les daba en los eventos de su vida diaria. Los ejercicios espirituales que comenzaremos este jueves 28 de marzo a las 6pm en Keyser Hall, será el comienzo de una aventura que cambiará nuestra vida, nuestra forma de percibir a Dios y a otros. ¿Por qué? Porque cuando aprendemos a escuchar a Dios en lo profundo de nuestro ser, cuando aprendemos a ver los signos de su presencia en los eventos de nuestra vida diaria, la vida adquiere otro sentido, y nuestra alma se llena de paz. Incluso si te impide empezar el proceso de los ejercicios espirituales, te invito a que tomes 10 minutos al día, no para leer una oración, o leer la biblia. Simplemente cierra los ojos, invita a Jesucristo que venga a tu corazón y dale esos 10 minutos para permitir que el poder de su gracia inunde tu mente y tu corazón, que sane tus recuerdos y las heridas emocionales que necesitan ser sanadas. Aunque parezcan 10 minutos haciendo nada, te aseguro que Dios hará su parte. Tú haz la tuya estando ahí en su presencia. Dios te bendiga. P. Angel Anaya

Dear friends: The phrase in the photo comes from Hosea 2, 14. It is God speaking to his people (and to each of us) inviting us to a deeper path of conversion and prayer. During Lent, one of the serious invitations that the church makes us is to approach God to have a more personal and profound experience. An experience of God that does not go beyond the reading of prayers,

novenas or spiritual books, is an incomplete experience that stays in the means of prayer, but that does not go to the end of the prayer that is to enter into personal contact and direct with God. In the Bible we find many examples of people who listened to the voice of God and fulfilled his will. These people were human beings like us, with challenges and problems like us. What was special about them that allowed them to communicate and enter into personal contact with God? They listened in the silence of their hearts, they were attentive to the response that God gave them in the events of their daily life. The spiritual exercises that we will begin this Thursday, March 28 at 6pm in Keyser Hall, will be the beginning of an adventure that will change our lives, our way of perceiving God and others. Why? Because when we learn to listen to God in the depths of our being, when we learn to see the signs of his presence in the events of our daily life, life acquires another meaning, and our soul is filled with peace. Even if you’re not able to beginning the process of these spiritual exercises, I invite you to take 10 minutes a day, not to read a prayer, or read the bible. Just close your eyes, invite Jesus Christ to come to your heart and give him those 10 minutes to allow the power of his grace to flood your mind and heart, to heal your memories and the emotional wounds that need healing.
