ALL SAINTS AND THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS My dear parishioners, November is a blessed month that begins with All Saints Day and will end with the celebration of Thanksgiving and the arrival of a new advent Season. I would like to apologize here for not properly announcing the solemnity of All Saints. We celebrated masses on that day with the hope that the saints in heaven may help us in our journey. November is also the month that holds Election day. As you are well aware, this coming Tuesday, we are asked again, as fellow citizens to exercise our right to vote and decide who will be the next president of the US in the coming years. I just want to encourage all of you to vote and to exercise this right, following a good Christian conscience and having in mind all the recommendations that during the past days have been given by many bishops in the US, including our own Cardinal. As you know, we do not like to publicly address any candidate, because we like to respect the opinion of any person who comes to our community. However, I hope that you appreciate the effort of our Catholic bishops who have written columns, issued statements or preached homilies en-couraging their people to weigh the issues carefully as they enter the voting booth. On Election day, we are also asked to vote on several questions that could make new laws in certain public issues. We also hope that you vote with responsibility on this important issues. Cardinal O’Malley has

led a campaign to try to oppose question 4 that would legalize recrea-tional use of marijuana. Cardinal O’Malley says that “if this referendum

is approved, there will be an extremely damaging impact on our society, particularly children and young people.” He encourages us to vote “no”

on this particular proposal and to oppose the legalization of marijuana. If you need to read more on this issue, please visit Cardinal Sean’s blog

TODOS LOS SANTOS Y LAS PROXIMAS ELECCIONES Mis queridos feligreses, Noviembre es un mes bendito que comienza con el Día de Todos los Santos y terminará con la celebración de Acción de Gracias y la llegada de una nueva temporada de Adviento. Me gustaría disculparme aquí por no anunciar adecuadamente la solemnidad de Todos los Santos. Celebra-mos misas en ese día con la esperanza de que los santos en el cielo nos puedan ayudar en nuestro caminar diario. Noviembre es también el mes en el que se hacen las elecciones en este país. Como bien saben, este martes, se nos pide de nuevo, como conciu-dadanos, ejercer nuestro derecho a votar y decidir quién será el próximo presidente de los Estados Unidos en los próximos años. Sólo quiero animar a todos a votar y ejercer este derecho, siguiendo una buena con-ciencia cristiana y teniendo en cuenta todas las recomendaciones que durante los últimos días han sido dadas por muchos obispos en los Esta-dos Unidos, incluido nuestro propio Cardenal. Como ustedes saben, no nos gusta apoyar públicamente a ningún candidato, porque nos gusta respetar la opinión de cualquier persona que viene a nuestra comunidad. The St. Vincent de Paul Society We helped 16 families each week in the month of October 2016: $1,355 with food vouchers . Because of your generous donations we were able to fill 25 bags of household items for distribution to the needy of our parish. You are a key part of this quiet but important work. Without your donations in the St. Vincent de Paul boxes at the back of church, we may not be able to assist some of those who turn to us. Thank you. We re-mind you that we meet every Thursday, at 6:30 - 7:30pm in the Parish Hall of St. Thomas. Note:The St Vincent de Paul Society has a few adult win-ter cats. They will be available to our parishioners at our

usual Thursday meetings.

donation in the box/pillar in the entrance of the church. We no longer accept food, so please do not leave them inside the
