As with everything this year, we have had to take a dif- ferent approach but the show must and did go on! I was lucky enough to be at the filming of both the Reception and Year Two Na- tivity plays and enjoyed them both greatly. The Reception children were very excited about being in the church in their cos- tumes and a few found it tricky to concentrate on the main business of the day but I know you will enjoy their spectacular version of the Christmas story with a very wicked Herod, some feisty Kings and a particularly fabulous Mary. The children all did brilliantly and I am very grateful to Miss Moore, Mrs Markwood and Mrs Manning for preparing them so well. Year Two told the story of Babushka. Once again there were some fantastic perfor- mances with lines learnt and delivered clearly and confidently. Bethany and Toto shared the role of Babushku and were both very convincing as they busied themselves tidying and cleaning. Mrs Fairley, Mrs Jenkins, Miss Boatwright and Mrs Root were the producers of this incredible show and can be very proud of their hard work. I was unable to attend the Year One Nativity, but Mrs Fairley went as my representative and said how brilliantly the children remembered their cues, what lovely loud voices they used and how fabulous they looked in their costumes. We will be sending you the link to our Nativity videos at the beginning of next week. We are very grateful to our fabulous caretaker, Mr Newstead, who videoed the performances and is now busy editing them for your delight. I would ask that you do not add the link to any social media sites, saving it for the enjoyment of close family and friends only. Our Key Stage Two classes have also been busy preparing a virtual Christmas Service for you to enjoy. Key Stage Two parents should have received a link to this via the Gateway today. I am sure you will enjoy the signed carols, the Christmas Mash upand the quirky version of the Nativity as much as I did! The Autumn Term has been a strange but exciting one. It has been lovely to see the children enjoying being back in school altogether and beginning to get into those good learning behaviours which have allowed them to make good progress despite missing lots of school early in the year. I would like to thank you as parents for your support and consideration in challenging times – you have helped to keep everyone going as well as helping to keep the whole community safe. We wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year and hope that you may find some peace and quiet but lots of fun too. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 5th January. Christmas Craziness Phew - we made it! This week in Hundred-Acre Wood we have been Christmas crazy! Our story of the week was “The Polar Express”, and this inspired lots of train-themed play. We have been using just about anything we can find to get crafty; the classroom is covered in glitter, sequins, tinsel, string and cotton wool. The children have made full use of the outdoor crates to build sleighs and toy shops. On Tuesday we performed our Nativity in the Church, what a treat that was (albeit a little different, but still hugely en-tertaining). Christmas cards have been our favourite activity this week, we are all making huge progress with our letter formation and very eager to write at every given opportunity. What a busy first term we have had, lot of learning and oodles of fun! Enjoy the break, we have all earned it. This week in Brambly Hedge we have been busy rehearsing our Nativity play which we performed on Thursday in the Church. The children did so well and made me and their parents proud! We have also been making pop-up Christmas cards as part of our Design and Technology unit of work for parents and family members, we hope you will enjoy receiving them! The children very much enjoyed their Christmas dinner on Wednesday so thank you to our catering team for a delicious meal! We also had great fun together watching the Mercury Theatre's pantomime 'Cinderella' we all laughed a lot, although not always at the same time!! Mrs Bacon says 'Thank you for a wonderful autumn term Brambly Hedge Mice I have loved every minute of it!' The beginning of the week in Emerald City was spent rehearsing our performance of Baboushka, which we performed on Tuesday afternoon. The children did really well as it was the first time they had performed it in the church. We have written our own versions of The Snowman in literacy and have been solving Christmas problems in maths. The children have also made Christmas cards and calendars using the skills they have learnt in art and ICT this term. Narnia have been busy little Elves this week. They used all their maths knowledge from the last term to work out the clues to our maths mys-tery. In English, the children answered questions about the poem 'The Night before Christmas" and also performed the Nativity (which they wrote and directed themselves!). The children have also been busy in Father Christmas's workshop, creating cards, Christmas crackers and felt decorations. Narnia class wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We have had a lively final week of term in Hog-warts. Our classroom was decorated like a banqueting hall thanks to the children making lovely snowflakes and paper chains. We tucked into our festive food sharing some really corny jokes from the crackers! We have solved lots of Christmas mysteries using our maths knowledge and written festive poems. We have finished our Egyptian masks and used all our science learning to complete a quiz in states of matter. The children have shown real perseverance this term, adjusting after a long absence. Every one of them has risen to the challenge and I am proud to be their teacher. I wish them all a fun and festive holiday. This week, the Shire have had a great week doing lots of Christmas-themed activities! We've cracked the Mystery of the Missing Elf in maths, made 3D snowflakes, and designed and built our very own Greek tem-ples! A fantastic end to a very lovely term! This week has been a bit sad for Year 6 as they prepared to say goodbye to Alfie Law as he moves on to his new school. We had a brilliant time at Forest School on Thursday afternoon as a 'leaving party.' Earlier in the week we finished off our persuasive letters to Har-rods to lower the price of their Santa's Grotto to make it affordable for all. We also completed Christ-mas themed maths and comprehension activities. We are looking forward to the challenges of the New Year. Marry Christmas One and All! (We were very grateful to Mrs Manning who braved the rain and sold lots at the Bures Village Market and Robert at the Post Office.) We raising a staggering £1,015!! We drew the raffle on Wednesday and those that won were thrilled with their hampers!!

Collective Worship This week in Collective Worship we talked about the best Christmas Stories. I read a version of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’ to the children as it was one of my favourite books when I was growing up. The children had some firm favourites too – ‘Mog’s Christmas’, ‘One Snowy Night’, ‘The Snowman’ and the immortal ‘Father Christmas Needs a Wee’ were popular! We then had an excited talk about our favourite Christmas films – ‘Elf’ seemed to be a firm favourite but there were many others too. The main focus of our assembly was of course the story which Christians believe tells of the greatest gift ever given. We watched a lovely version of the Nativity acted out by some children which the children really enjoyed – here is a link in case you would like to share it at home - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s56Xa_C54I&feature=emb_logo. We agreed that on Christmas Day we would take time either to thank God for the gift of Jesus or to reflect on how lucky we are and to think of all the things we can be grateful for even though it has been a tricky year.

Thank you

We would like to say a big ‘Thank you’

to Mrs Goudkuil who has donated to

the school £180 from the sale of her

Potatoes and Onions.

Christmas Jumper Day

The Children has lots of fun wearing their Christmas Jumpers yesterday. It was quite outstanding to see how many different designs there were. We raised £174 for ‘Save the Chil-dren’

Spring Term

We look forward to seeing all the children back on the Tuesday 5th January (PD Day on Monday 4th January).

Christmas Dinner

The Children enjoyed a delicious Christmas Dinner yesterday cooked by our lovely kitchen team. There was Christmas music, Christmas crackers, jokes and hats worn by all.

Thank you to Anna and Sam in the Kitchen and all our MDA staff for making this a special dinner time for all the children.
