Greetings to all,

It is hard to believe that the first half of the Lodge year is in the rearview mirror. We are trying to make more events available to you while keeping with the rules and mandates that are still in place. The Clubs are back to hold-ing their meetings. Christmas Holiday parties are being planned. Kathy is doing her best to accommodate all of you to get the dates you

would like and be able to seat everyone without having to limit the size of your group. In some cases your requests cannot be carried out. Please do not take it out on her. The Heroes who live at the Veterans home in Prescott are in need of our help. As many of you are aware, each Christmas Bud and Diane Watts, deliver presents of Lapghans to the Veterans Home. The Lodge participated in the Stand Down recently held in our community. The Stand Down offers homeless veterans the opportunity to get advice, cloth-ing and medical assistance. PER Debbie Herd, along with several helpers from the Lodge, coordi-nated our participation in this worthy event.

The Elks Lodge used an Elks National Foundation Freedom Grant of $2500.00 to create Emergency Backpacks for homeless Veterans to be given out at this years’ “Stand Down.” The Clothes Closet partnered with the Lodge and was invaluable in getting the 50 backpacks and other items donated from outside vendors. Pictured are from left: ER Bill Horton, PER Debbie Herd, Clothes Closet Founder Christine Watson and Clothes Closet Manager Cindy Keasey. Shown below are personal hygiene, snacks and other items homeless people need which were placed in backpacks.

Greetings all, As we are all adjusting to our new normal, it is great to know we are adding events back onto our calendars. Events like Kids Turn to Shop on Saturday, December 5th. We are planning to do things a little more simplisti-cally this year to ensure we provide a safe environment for the Volunteers, kids, and families. As we do each year, we are looking

for donations for items for men, women, and children. Please drop them off at the office, or we would be happy to arrange to pick those donated items up from you. Call me with any ques-tions, at 707-363-1356.

A new event the lodge is supporting for this year's Holiday Sea-son is the Giving Tree. You will be able to select a Giving Tree Tag off the tree and purchase the items listed for a child in need. You can pick up a Giving Tree Tag in the office Monday through Friday 8 am-4 pm. For those not available during the day, tags are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 4 pm - 7 pm in the lodge. We will be collecting the wrapped gifts and dispersing them to the families at a select date in December (TBD).

Pie sales are up and running, and we need your help. We are

looking for a few new volunteers to help sell pie on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. Volunteering for this is a 3-4-hour commitment per each night. It is a fun way to meet new lodge members and connect with those who have not seen in a while. Please contact Eva D. Fox (916) 417-3176 or myself if you have any questions.

The lodge is also doing annual Christmas Baskets. There is a collection barrel placed in the foyer by the office for food dona-tions, which will help some families in real need.

There are some 52 Club tickets still available for sale. If you would like to purchase one, please contact any Elkette or myself. We will gladly make sure you get the opportunity to participate. With there being only a total of 300 tickets, it will be easy to miss out. Once they sell out, they are gone.

Jim Travis is once again collecting coats for those in need. There are coat reciprocals in the foyers that you can them drop off in.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. - Winston Churchill

Greetings Members All,

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions and Kmart closing, we have chosen a different Christmas giving program this year. This project is called “The Giving Tree.” This is similar to the An-gel trees you see in stores. If you would like to adopt a child, as an individual, you will be able to sign up the month of No-vember on Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the bar of the Lodge. You will choose a child, buy the requested items and spend $75-$100 dollars, wrap and label gift items and return to Lodge office no later than December 11th.

We are asking Clubs and individuals who don’t want to shop to give a donation to the Office. Please write checks to Elks 2399 and add “The Giving Tree” in the subject and the com-mittee will shop for you. It takes between $75 and $100 dol-lars to sponsor a child. Donate whatever you can. Please think outside of the box. Work in partners to sponsor a child or to make a donation. These families have been suffering because of Covid-19 and it’s time we give them some much needed relief.

With your help, we are hoping to sponsor 100 children and bring them Christmas Cheer. I look forward to assigning you all children the month of November on Wednesdays and Fri-days from 4:00-7:00pm in the Lodge bar. This program is completely separate from Christmas Baskets so let’s make sure we support them too.

You can help in two ways: - Send a check to the Lodge Office with “The Giving

Tree” in the subject box. - Adopt a child and shop yourselves.

Benevolence is what we are about and let’s show that to our community this Christmas season. Thank you all for your sup-port. Sincerely, Debbie Herd Clothe A Child Chair

We are back on track with our Vagabonds trips. Our last campout was in Wickenburg, in October at Desert Cypress RV Park. Bill and Debbie Horton and Jim and Janet Sims hosted and we had about 30 rigs. We had happy hours, 50/50 raffles, and on Saturday night

grilled hot dogs. There were also off-road rides, shopping, etc. Our November Campout will be in Death Valley November 5th through the 8th. Steve and Sue Miller and Bruce and Arvella Joy are hosting. We have 27 rigs signed up to go. The dates for our Vagabonds trip to Williams next year are Sep-tember 15th through the 18th. Reservations can be made by call-ing the Railside RV Ranch at 928-635-4077. If they don’t an-swer the phone, leave a message and they will respond back with confirmation of your dates. This is a very well attended cam-pout, so make your reservations early. Our Christmas party is scheduled for December 6th. I will be sending out details on this event soon. Mark your calendars! Now that we are back on schedule, our meetings are the second

Wednesday of the month at 1:00. This, however, will be moved for the month of November due to the Veteran’s dinner hosted by Bud & Diane Watts. The date for the November meeting is Wednesday, November 18th. If you are joining us for lunch, please be there by 11:45 in order for everyone to get their lunch before the beginning of the meeting. Queen of Hearts closes at 12:45 so your tickets must be purchased prior to that time. Your dues must be paid in order to participate in the Queen of Hearts. If you have not paid your dues for this year, you can pay them at the next meeting or drop off a check in the office, marked for “Vagabonds dues”. To get the latest news and updates on our Lodge, visit the Lodge website at elks2399.com. I look forward to seeing everyone soon and getting back to our regular schedule.
