Waste reduction
Biogas projects involve the conversion of waste into valuable products.
Ammonium Sulphate

6
Covered Anaerobic Lagoon – DigesterCovered Anaerobic Lagoons are the most common solution due to simple civil construction and relatively
cheap materials.
CAL– Digester Flow Plan
7
8
DVO – Two-Stage Mixed Plug Flow DigesterDVO Digesters are an advanced concrete tank design with gas injection for heating and mixing, and have
been engineered for optimised performance.
Advantages of the DVO Digester include:
• Lower water requirements
• More suited to add nutrient recovery systems for Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium
• Capable of handling settled solids in the digester
• Guaranteed hydraulic retention time of the effluent as the effluent travels directionally from one end to the other
DVO – Digester Flow Plan and Mass Balance

Production details
• 1,000,000 layer hens
• Poultry manure 25,000 tpa
• Egg Wash Water available 300,000 litres/day
• Spent hens
Power Consumption
• Grid connected
• Approx. 5,000,000 kWh of on-site electricity consumption.
• Back up diesel generation on site
Revenue Streams
- Electricity savings
- RECs
- Spent hen management savings

Daily Load ProfileOperations and load is primarily during daylight hours. It can be seen high loads are driven by climate
control requirements during hot summer days.

• Covered Anaerobic Lagoon ~70m x 70m digester plus
Optional Inclusion of spent hen processing tank ~50m x50m
Biogas and heat transfer skid to:
• Remove impurities from the gas via a scrubber
• Chill and pressurize the gas for transfer to the generators
• Heat the anaerobic digestion system
Biogas generator and flare
Optional Nutrient recovery system for N P K
OPTIONAL Solar PV & Storage

• The installation of 200 kW / 1,000 kWh of battery storage
13
Project Generation PotentialThe CAL and DVO systems have slightly varying biogas outputs.
The following is based on a Covered Anaerobic Lagoon and a solar & battery storage solution.
1 m³ of biogas equals
• 0.5-0.6 l diesel fuel
• 6 kWh
• 22 MJ
• 2.14 kWh (elec)
@ 35% conversion efficiency

Given the load profile of the egg facility, it is a natural fit for Solar PV which produces during the daylight hours
with output being higher during the hot summer months which is when the climate control load is higher.

• Covered Anaerobic Lagoon ~90 x 70 m
• Gas conditioning
• Dual Fuel Biogas generation system
• Natural gas connection
• Control System
18
Peak and Shoulder Generation The aim of the project is to generate power during Peak and Shoulder Periods as the tariff and demand
charges during this time are significantly higher than Off Peak.

What Quantum can do for you.
20
Quantum Power is happy to come assess your operation or discuss your expansion and
greenfield development plans to assess the suitability for an anaerobic digestion project.
First steps include:
• Site and project assessment
• Load analysis
• Feedstock analysis
• Delivery of Preliminary Proposal
Quantum's preferred option is to develop the project under a Build Own
Operate Maintain model. We will:
• Arrange all relevant development and environmental approvals
• Design Construct and Operate the biogas system
• Sell the power to you under a long term Power Purchase Agreement
• Negotiate ARENA funding if applicable
• Register the project for RECs and ACCU where applicable
You will have all the benefit of reduces electricity prices, insulation from
rising tariffs, improved waste management – with Zero upfront capital
costs.
