(2) Remove the included items.

(1) Remove the cover of the cardboard box.

Cut the plastic band and remove the cover of the cardboard box.

(3) Remove the side cover of the cardboard box, and then remove the upper cover of the cardboard box.

(4) Remove the tape at the top of the plastic cover, and then open and pull down the plastic cover.

Remove all of the included items.

(5) Cut the tape at the bottom 4 corners of the cardboard box and open the corners.

(6) Extend the length of the 4 casters at the bottom.

(7) Secure the casters into place.

When the base of the product is 100 mm from the base of the cardboard box, secure the upper nut by rotating it anticlockwise.

Position after unboxing Extend the caster by rotating the lower nut clockwise.

Use the supplied spanner to loosen the upper nut by rotating it clockwise. (View from the top)

(9) Remove the cardboard from the upper side.

(10) Place the supplied slopes at the 2 locations on the upper side indicated in the illustration.

Remove the cardboard from the upstream side by cutting at the locations indicated with dotted lines.

There are no dotted lines on the actual cardboard box.

(8) Remove the 2 pieces of cardboard packaging from the bottom center of the product.

There two locations are at the front and back.

Align the edge of the slope with the position indicated by the arrow.

(11) Lower the product from the upper side.

(12) Check that the heights of the entrance and exit are 860 mm from the floor.

Make sure to hold the product by the locations indicated with dotted lines.

If the heights are not 860 mm, perform steps (6) and (7).

Perform adjustments based on the floor of the installation area.

(3) Remove the tape.

(1) Remove the 2 brackets from the upstream side.

(2) Remove the bracket from below the right door.

Remove the 4 screws.Remove the 4 screws.

Remove the 2 screws.

(4) Open the right door, and remove the bracket from the bottom of the right door.

Check that all connected devices are turned OFF, and that the power plug is disconnected from the power outlet.

(5) Open the doors and remove the tape and cushion.

(6) Attach the Upper side cover to the upper side.

· Remove the binder unit. (A)· Remove each piece of tape.· Open the door and pull out thecartridge. (B)

· Remove the cushion inside.

· Tighten the upper-right screw first.Tapping screw 3×6

(7) Attach the Lower side cover to the downstream side.

(8) Open the supplied cardboard box.

(9) Attach the DFD docking bracket for upstream to the bottom of the upper side.

Tighten the screws in the order indicated above.

Secure these 4 locations with screws.

Insert this into the holes in the top. Hang it on the hooks.

If there are devices connected to the downstream unit side (refer to the installation manual of the downstream unit)

Secure these 3 locations with screws.

(1) If using a DFD-specification downstream unit, attach the DFD docking bracket for down to the bottom of the downstream side.

(2) If using a Canon V-series FINISHER

Align the unit embossment and the holes of the FINISHER Door Cover, and secure the 3 locations with screws.

Secure these 3 locations with screws.

Align this with the holes in the embossment.

Insert this into the holes in the top. Hang it on the hooks.

(1) Remove the screw from the DFD docking bracket.

(2) Connect the unit to the upstream unit.

(3) Lock the connector and secure it.

Remove the screw.Pull it forward.

Push the lever all the way inward. Secure it with a screw.

(4) From behind the unit, connect the power cord and the cable for the upstream unit.

Check that the ground fault breaker switch is set to the right position, and connect the power cord.

Connect the power cord.

Secure these 2 locationswith screws.

Power Supply Cord (for EU) Detachable SVT type, maximum 4.5 m long, minimum 125V, 10A. One end terminates in parallel-blade (NEMA 5-15P) attachment plug, other end in appliance coupler.

CAUTIONThe soket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and be easily accesible.

If there is any downstream finishing unit after the Max binder, it is imperative that you perform the following procedure.(1) Press the power switch to turn on the power and close the front door.

(3) If "Pass Code?" is displayed, press the SET key, enter 5050 for the number area currently displayed as 0000 by using the arrow keys, and press the SET key.

(4) Press the up and down arrow keys to select "Bypass Speed", and press the SET key.

If the cursor is displayed in the number area, enter values based on the downstream unit by using the arrow keys, and press the SET key. (The unit of speed is mm/sec.)

Adjust the bypass speed setting depend on the main printer device.

Refer to “LCD Display and Special operation” in the service manual for more information on connectable devices and the value of the bypass speed.

Set this to the up position.

(2) Press the left key when "Bind", "Bypass" or "Punch" is displayed in the operation panel's LCD.

(7) Press the ESC key 2 times, and check if "Bind", "Bypass" or "Punch" is displayed in the LCD to complete the procedure.

CAUTIONInput values by following the settings of the downstream unit.

· To update the software version, refer to the service manual.· If the punch location and the ring location are not aligned, refer to the side register adjustment in

the service manual.

(5)Press the up and down arrow keys to select “Bypass Type?” and press the SET key.(6) Press the up and down arrow keys to select “Non-DFD” and press the SET key. If this is set to any other selection you will get a message on the varioPRINT UI “Check Max Binder”

If the center of the upstream unit transfer and the center of the Binding Finisher transfer are unaligned, paper jams or binding problems may occur. Perform the following check and adjust the unaligned equipment.How to Check the Alignment(1) If the Binding Finisher is the unit fartherst downstream, go to (3).(2) Separate the unit on the downstream side and check from the downstream side of the Binding

Finisher.(3) When using the Binding Finisher's "Bind" or "Punch" to print or bind, the paper should be visible

as in the illustration below. (The mark for A4 size paper is on the left and the mark for LT size paper is on the right.)

When using A4 paper, if the edge of the paper is off of the center baseline by two marks, as in the illustration below, the center of the transfer is off of the baseline by 4 mm, towards the back.

How to Adjust the Alignment(1) Separate the upstream unit and the Binding Finisher. (See page 13.)(2) Remove screw 1 from the DFD docking bracket and loosen screws 2, 3, and 4.

(3) Slide the DFD docking bracket to the back side and the front side, and align it with the center.

(4) Tighten 3 screws (screw 2, 3, and 4), and see page 13 to connect the unit to the upstream unit.

As a screw will be leftover, be sure to keep it in storage.
