Dear Parents,

Wow! Another term is just about finished. It has been a very

busy, yet very successful term.

As we reflect on the last six months, we want to say thank you to

our students.

We are proud of each and every one of them for the effort they

put into their learning. For some students learning is easy and

for others learning is difficult. The important thing is they are all

trying and persevering. Thank you to the teachers who each day

make many adjustments to student programs to help children

learn as best they can. Thanks to our parent community who

continue to partner with us on a daily basis. It is certainly a great

village to be part of.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

We have appreciated the opportunity to talk to parents/carers

throughout the term through such trusting conversations, we are

now better equipped to understand the specific needs of each

child within our care.

Fundraising

Thank you to the following parents who assisted at the working

bee to sort chocolates:

Tara Weiss, Andrea Terveen, Erin Duke, Liane Mandat, Zdenka

Brnada, Jackie Carabott, Paula Guerin, Maria Emmins, Kim

Gomes, Lisa Guzzardi, Irene Adeleye, Candy Morgan, Pina

Buhagiar, Melissa Edmonds and Henrietta Szabo-Docs.

We appreciate the generosity of parents/carers in accepting a box of chocolates and do not take for

granted the energy required to sell $50.00 of goods.

Our thanks also to the families who chose not to accept chocolates but whose preference has been to

donate $25.00.

All fund raising efforts in 2018 will enable us to purchase additional shade for our students for their

athletics carnival and outside events.

Congratulations

Yesterday’s First Eucharist Liturgies were magnificent and a tribute to the Bethany Village.

Congratulations to every family who presented a child for this Sacrament. You promised to nurture

your child’s faith life at their Baptism and you have been true to your word.

Each First Communicant looked amazing. Families must have felt deep pride and rightly so.

I am extremely grateful to Loretta Freeman our Director of Religious Education for her professionalism

in ensuring that teachers were able to offer a rich and engaging preparation program to the children. I

am also most grateful that each teacher in the Bridging Centre so willingly shared their own faith with

the children, and influenced those presenting to prepare in such a prayerful manner.

Our year 5 choir were spectacular. Naturally, such a choir is only possible when students commit to

hard work and when those in the choir generously share their talent by giving up an entire Sunday

afternoon for others. The students in the choir demonstrated outstanding service and contributed

enormously to the success of the celebration. If your child was in the choir, as a parent feel extremely

proud that your child has a strong sense of what it means to contribute to the common good.

Our school is most fortunate to have two extremely talented musicians in our performing arts

department, Trish Hollenbach and Michaela Callaghan always share their individual talents in ways that

ensure our choir shine and the choir really shone at this year’s First Communion.

Fifty teachers attended the First Eucharist liturgies. As Principal I am grateful to work alongside a group

of teachers who always give over and above what is required and teachers who understand the power of

working in collaboration – always supporting each other and ensuring success for the school and its

students.

End of Term Clean Up

Thank you to the many families who have indicated that they are in a position to support the end of term

clean up this Thursday June 28th.

However, we would welcome another 8 – 10 helpers. If you can assist please complete the slip below.

School-aged children will be supervised in the hall. A reminder that if you are able to help your name

will go into the hat for a chance to win a Gold Class voucher to the movies.

Finance

Thank you to our families who have completed their school fee payment. If you have committed by

paying in full or by instalments these fees are now overdue. It is expected that families will honour

their promise to make fee payments at the scheduled times.

Naturally, where finance is a difficulty, individual plans are offered and as a school we always work

hard to assist families in this regard.

No Communication

It is important that families understand that not paying fees and not communicating your difficulties is

not acceptable. Please communicate any difficulties regarding your inability to meet financial

obligations with either Father Albert – 9741 4144 or with Marlene by phone or by calling in person.

We want to help our families and ask that families help us by trusting us with these conversations.

End of Term

All students conclude school at 12.30 pm this Friday June 29th.

A reminder that all students are expected to attend school on Friday morning. If parents are aware

that a child will not be at school on Friday morning it is most important that an absenteeism form

is completed or a phone call is made to the school office by 8.30 am on Friday morning.

Term 3

Term 3 begins on Tuesday July 17th at 8.50 am.

Given that our school will have taken a closure day at the start of 2nd and 3rd term we will only take an

additional two days at the end of the school year.

Prior Notice:

At the end of the 2018 year,

School will conclude for Bethany students on:

Student Safety

Access to playgrounds after school

As many families are aware the school playgrounds are open after school for families who wish to

supervise their children on them. Just a reminder that all school aged children MUST play on the

correct playgrounds that have been designed for the age of the children.

This is to ensure all children are safe at all times.

It parents allow children to play on the incorrect playgrounds after school then we will need to withdraw

the after school opportunity. As a school we hope that this does not need to happen and are confident

that parents will ensure that children follow the expectations as outlined.

We also ask parents to note that toy guns are not allowed at school at any time; either during school or

after school while on the school grounds.
