What a settled start to Term 3 we have had this week. It is wonder-ful to see students settling in to learning and managing the very cold and wet weather. I trust that you did get to spend some time relaxing during the school holiday break. We hope for a break from the very wet and windy days we have been having.

DEPUTY’S CORNER

Welcome back for a wet and frosty start to Term 3! I hope that you have all been able to remain dry and warm during this cold winter! The rain was unbelievably heavy on Monday afternoon and even Countess Street flooded in the torrential rain. Thank you to all of the drivers who took extraordinary care when picking their children up in the turning circle after school. Traffic has been particularly bad in this terrible weather and we appreci-ate your patience.

Our oval has become quite muddy through being saturated by the recent heavy rain. We have decided to close the oval for recess and lunch time play until it becomes drier. Fortunately we have a number of other viable options for play for all students during this inclement weather.

Uniform ReminderIt is evident that lots of students have had a haircut during the school break. Please make sure that you refer to your child’s diary to ensure that the haircuts are school uniform compliant. If you are unsure, you can find the requirements on pages 12 and 13 of the student diary. Feel free to speak to your child’s teacher if you are unsure or have any questions

From The Deputyin regards to your child’s uniform.

We appreciate your support in this matter!

I wish you all well this week.God bless you,

Deb CliffordDeputy Principal

2H had a fabulous time at the Adelaide Central Market in week 10 last term. We used mapping skills and our procedure writing plan to navigate our way by public transport all the way into the city. It was quite the adventure, as for some students this was their first time catch-ing a bus, train or tram. When we got into the market the students used their wise shopping skills to make purchases as part of a treasure hunt that had been organised for them. We then had to return to school using our back to school procedure! Phew… what an exciting day!

2H Central Markets Excursion Grandparents Day

Next Friday the Year 1 students are hosting a, ‘Grandparents Day’ in the Function Room between 11.15am - 12.30pm as part of their History focus in class. It is always a day that is attended well and enjoyed by all the visitors. If your child is in Year 1 you should have received a note in your child’s diary. If not, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher for further information.

CSA Professional Development

As part of our ongoing commitment to Teacher Professional Development we provide opportunities for teachers to at-tend a wide variety of training sessions.

On Thursday the 23rd of June Kelly Nesbitt, Mahlah Hannaford, Steve Taylor and Melissa Taylor attended an interac-tive workshop on the new Curriculum Subject HASS run by Christian Schools Australia. It looked at specific content in the Australian Curriculum and how to illuminate God's Big Story within that curriculum. Illuminating God's Big Story as part of all subjects taught at Bethany

has been a focus in the past two years.

Currently 7 teachers and leaders are studying a Master of Christian Educa-tion with the intent of promoting both spiritual and academic growth across our school.

Opportunities for teachers to learn and share their knowledge is part of the school culture here at Bethany and this directly impacts teacher capacity and ultimately student learning.

Congratulations

We would like to congratulate Yenika Kurtzer, who underwent her Australian Teachers of Dance Classical Ballet As-sessment with Jane Grech Dance Centre earlier this year.

All students must work very hard to reach a standard where they can under-take Classical Ballet examinations. Yenika is to be congratulated for her efforts in reaching that standard!
