We help to keep kids safe and clean by washing their hands more frequently and sanitizing everything after and before use. We plan individual activities and make sure children do not share their toys and play with their own toys and individual activities for each child. By reducing group activities, we can help to prevent corona virus. As for sensory activities each child will have his individual activity which is always covered in ziplock or sleeves.

AUGUST 2020

Focus of this month is all about staying safe and healthy. This month we are focusing on maintaining hygiene and social distancing.

Toddlers

Preschoolers

In Toddler we have been talking about all things summer! Every day we talk about something

new regarding the season. From the weather outside to what are some of our favourite summer activities. Our goal in Toddler 2 next month will be colours. Every day we will choose a new colour to shed light on and do fun activities surrounding that colour. That way the children can expand their vocabulary as well as be able to identify what each colour is.

For the month of August, Preschoolers will experience the joy of learning through variety of activities which will support letters and numbers recognition. Preschoolers will be asked to connect letter names and sound they make. Children will be working on recognizing their names by learning to spell and write them. Teachers will be helping our young ones to build their vocabulary by listening and repeating new words every day. This will also continue our practice of fine motor skills by using scissors to cut letters, writing with pencils and crayons. Also, preschoolers will sort different attributes (colours, shapes, sizes, etc.) Teachers will encourage children to learn their peers’ names during circle time greetings. Many music activities will be included in daily programming like singing songs, dancing making sounds using your voice or musical instruments. These activities will be the part of small grouping, a key to our health and safety precautions. Materials will be set up using individual trays or paper plates to separate children’s play space for table activities.

Centre Reminder

Event Calendar

Welcome back everyone! We are so pleased to see your smiling faces back at the centre. And we’re so happy to get the chance to connect with everyone, old or new, that is a part of the Lullaboo family.

Most of you have already met me during the drop-off and pick-up periods, but I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Chelsea and I am the Program Coordinator at the Heartland Campus. A few of the tasks that I take on include: training new hires, implementing workshops and training for current staff, completing classroom quality assurance reviews, and ensuring compliance with company policies and provincial/regional regulations.

We recognize that coming back into the centre and adjusting to the changes that have been implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for you and your children. We’d like to thank you all for the trust you place in us to take care of the most important thing in your lives – your children.

Our educators are all working hard and pulling together to navigate these new times. Although things have changed, children are still the same. They want to learn and grow and our educators are here to guide them in their learning journey.

You can join in all the exploration and learning fun too! Expand on your child’s learning by trying a special activity on the weekend. Here’s something fun you can try. Moon Sand is a quick and easy DIY sensory bin for any age group.

Ingredients: 2 Cups Flour, 1 Tsp Food Colouring, ¼ Cup Melted Coconut Oil (or any oil), Extras (measuring cups, measuring spoons, cars, trucks, etc). Mix and enjoy!

Welcome to August! Now that the summer is slowly coming to an end we will be working with our older children to ensure kindergarten-readiness; Incorporating more independence and self-help skills. While we still engage in outdoor play twice a day (weather permitted), please be reminded that a hat and sunscreen are encouraged throughout the warmer months. Let’s make the most of the summer by making new memories each day!

Director

What an incredible six weeks it has been since our reopening on June 12th. During this time we have learned new pick up and drop off routines, new health and safety protocols, new ways to interact with each other and amazing new ways to teach children while expanding their education. We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we learn this new normal together.

As our capacities continue to increase, we want to ensure that this continues as successful as it has been and continue to enhance your family’s experience and time with us.

The addition of a dedicated staff member who will be designated to help bring your child to their classroom. Ms. Mikayla will be dedicated to this going forward.

Program Coordinators have been assigned to each centre. This role is new to Lullaboo and combines previous roles that contributed to the quality of our programming. This helps consolidate efforts and eliminates travel between centres for these specialized roles. Ms. Chelsea Rogers will be the dedicated Program Coordinator at your centre.

To recap Regional Health Guidelines; screening must be completed daily for all parents, caregivers and children before arrival at the centre. Parents/caregivers are to take your child(ren) temperature every morning. Please call your child’s classroom or the office (attached is an extension list) to report temperatures and answer daily screening questions. Once screening is passed, a staff will come outside to pick up your child(ren). A secondary and streamlined Lullaboo Health Check will be completed before taking your child(ren) to their classroom.

At pick-up, please call your child's classroom or office and we will bring your child(ren) outside to you. To ensure safety of all children, we ask you to bring your ID with you at all times when coming for pick-up. We have allowed our systems to take a photo of authorized pickups in order to make this easier for you. We ask for your help in coordinating this role out.

Municipalities have made masks a mandatory item which must be worn while in indoor public buildings. Lullaboo has created our own reusable mask, should you wish to have one please ask your centre supervisor and they would be happy to provide you with one. These masks are free of charge while supplies last. We hope this helps contribute to our families’ health and safety while outside of our centres.

In addition, Lullaboo has also created a ‘Baby on Board’ sign that can hang in a window of your vehicle. This would serve as a proud way to let other drivers around you aware that you have a child in the car, these are also free for our current families please ask your Centre supervisor for it.

Lastly, we have updated our website with items available for you to enjoy at home. This includes continued Curbside Pickup of your child’s favourite menu items as well as brand name toys and materials that are used in the classroom. You can access this through the ‘store’ link on our website or directly at: https://lullaboo.square.site/

Again we thank all of our families for your understanding, support and patience during the number of changes we have been experiencing over the past few months. We know that together we are stronger and we appreciate you all. If there are any suggestions that you have to make any part of your day better, we would be happy to hear it.
