Cam Operated ShuttleAuto-Slide

The Model AFCS continuous shuttle uses a rotating disk and crank that are attached to the rear endplate. Thesecomponents create a smooth reciprocating motion. The input shaft is supported by dual ball bearings pressed into the mainbody. The crank arm rotates using bearings on hardened pins. Hardened and ground shafts riding in recirculating ballbushing bearings give the shuttle an extremely low coefficient of friction for effortless motion. This shuttle can be poweredby a variety of drive sources such as: gear motor with one revolution clutch, steeping motor, AC or DC servo motor, or geareddirectly from an existing machine. The low cost and high accuracy of this unit makes it an ideal choice for many shuttleapplications.

Linear Roller SlideAuto-Slide

Our basic Auto-Slide features lightweight aluminum construction in both the center body and the end plates. Recirculatingball bearings are standard. Extra thick felt wipers provide good absorption and distribution of lubricant and eliminate mostforeign matter. These slides can be mounted rigidly in any position by the endplates or the center body.

Shock Absorbers (Order Option “S”)

Our air cylinder powered Auto-Slide products are available with adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers. Theseshock absorbers are externally mounted on all slide units for ease of adjustment. These shocks are not intendedto be used as end stops. All Auto-Slides are equipped with adjustable end-of stroke stops. These stops must beset so that the shock absorber does not travel its full stroke and internally bottom its piston, which would causedamage to the shock absorber.

Proximity Sensor (Order Option “P”)

Auto-Slide products are available with proximity sensors to indicate end of travel. The proximity sensors used onthese units are manufactured with high quality stainless steel barrels. 8mm and larger have detachable cords.5mm proximity sensors are available for grippers. 8mm and 12mm proximity sensors are available for slides, bi-directionals, and pick & place units.

Rod Deflection CalculationsAuto-Slide

Information To Calculate Rod Deflection

Rod deflection is calculated by multiplying the weight of the slide and any tooling by the value in the chart shown below.Begin by adding the slide weight from chart #1 below and any additional tooling or supports added to the moving portion ofthe slide. This is the total weight the rods must support. Next, determine the approximate distance between the end platesin the supporting axis of the slide. Find the distance in chart #2 below, find the value listed in that column for the roddiameter of the slide you are using. Now multiply the total slide weight by the value listed in that column for the roddiameter of the slide you are using. Now multiply the total slide weight by the value from chart #2. This is the amount thatthe rods will deflect with the slide centered between the supporting end plates
