UNTITLED, 2010 13 PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS ON SEMI-TRANSPARENCIES, 11.7” × 16.5”

SITE SPECIFIC WORK IN PROCESS

UNTITLED (in exhibition) The memory of a disastrous flood led to a self-reflective process through photography using a lens submerged in mud. The resulting photos were then printed on semi-transparent paper and allowed to interact with natural forces—a process that surfaces the dualities of continuity/discontinuity, creation/destruction. Project developed in Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy.

COSA FAI DOMANI? (WHAT ARE YOU DOING TOMORROW?), 2010LASER PRINTS ON CARD STOCK

VARIABLE DIMENSIONS

COSA FAI DOMANI? (WHAT ARE YOU DOING TOMORROW?) is part of “Per Chi Rimane (For those who remain)” project in collaboration with the grief support group from Fondo Edo Tempia, a cancer foundation in Biella, Italy. This project is an inquiry on grief, its cycle and possible transformations. A card with days of the week was designed and given out to participants. They are then invited to write in the space about the things they would like to do the next day or even the things that they look forward to doing further in the future.

PER CHI RIMANE [INSTALLATION IN EXHIBITION] This project is a study on grief and its possible representations. In this installation, the tangibility of response to the loss of a loved one is expressed through the intimacy of small images and whispers from their explanations of the images the grief support group took. In collaboration with Fondo Edo Tempia support group. Project developed in Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy.

CASINO’ PROJECT WITH THE 5 STONES COLLECTIVE [ANNA MORENO, KOSTA TONEV & JOBELLE TAYAWA], 2010INTERVENTION IN LA PIGNA, SAN REMO, ITALY

SUPPORTED BY LA PIGNA MON AMOUR ASSOCIATION.

CASINO’ PROJECT WITH THE 5 STONES COLLECTIVE The concept of change and how it is perceived in a community were our main curiosity. In this site-specific work, we spread a rumor that an abandoned church in La Pigna, Italy was to be converted to a casino. Banners and posters were put up in the area, as well as a notice for a public referendum that would consider La Pigna citizens’ opinion. These were our instruments to provoke discussion amongst the citizens their idea of change.

First image is the visualization of the design with the Illy plastic wrap. Second image reveals the entire design.

“I am speaking my small piece of the truth, as best I can…[We] each have only a piece of the truth. So here it is. I’m putting it down for you to see if our fragments match anywhere, if our pieces, together, make another larger piece of the truth that can be part of the map we are making together to show us the way to get to the longed for world.”

SMALL PIECES OF YOUR TRUTH GAME COVER DESIGN, 2010LASER PRINTS ON SEMI-TRANSPARENCIES, 17”X17’

COMMISSIONED BY MAGGIE LAWSON

SMALL PIECES OF YOUR TRUTH [GAME COVER DESIGN] IN EXHIBITION. Maggie Lawson, artist and arts educator from Oakland, USA commissioned me to create a cover design for her cultural, multi-player game, Small Pieces of Your Truth, based on a tantagram. The concept for the design took from the diagonal nature of the actual game pieces. Developed in Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy.

CATHARSIS, 2010MAGAZINE CLIPPINGS ON COLD PRESSED BOARD, 20” x 30”

PROJECT IN PROGRESS

CATHARSIS An on-going collage project. This piece was created as a reaction to my previous work as an art director for fashion magazines. When Typhoon Ketsana ravaged flooded the Philippines in September 2009, I lost almost all my belongings, making me rethink the relevance of my career. After recovering, I asked for magazine donations and created a collage out of them.
