FOR ADMISSION TO DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.)

Academic Year 2015- 16 (Second Session)

Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D. programme in subjects shown in vacant seat list from the candidates who have qualified in UGC/CSIR (JRF) Examination/NET/SLET/GATE/JEST, or have secured such any Other national level fellowship for research or hold teacher fellowship or M.Phil.degree of this University. Applicants seeking admission to Degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (Full-time or Part-time) of the Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, should hold recognized Master’s degree or a degree recognized equivalent to Master’s degree, with at least 50% in aggregate or equivalent marks/grades, to be eligible. SC/ST/ will get 5% relaxation. Those who does not clear above examinations are also invited for admission to Ph.D. programme likely they have to appear in Entrance Test. Application form is available from the University website http://www.spuvvn.edu/students_corner/admissions such down loaded form may be submitted in person by paying Rs.300/- as fee (Application Form Fee) and in addition those who want to appear in Entrance Test has to pay Rs. 300/- + Rs.350/- = Rs.650/- as Form Fee and Entrance Test fee cash or by DD drawn in favor of “The Registrar, Sardar Patel University” payable at Vallabh Vidyanagar on or before

08/01/2016.

Before fill up the Application Form students are requested to confirm the availability of seats in the subject which they want to apply on university website and also follow the General instruction given in the Ph. D. Admission Application form.

General Instructions for Ph. D. Admission Academic Year: 2015-16 (Second Session)

(1) The candidates must read the conditions of eligibility as given in Advertisement carefully and must satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the admission before filling the application form.

(2) Candidates appeared for the final year Post Graduate’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If such candidates cleared the entrance test examination will be allowed to appear in counseling, only if he/she submits a photocopy of marksheet/gradesheet latest by 21/01/2016. Candidates has to submit certificate (Performa Enclosed) duly signed by Principal/HOD/Director.

(3) The candidates must check the availability of vacant seat for the subject for which you want to apply.

(4) Applicants for admission to Ph.D shall be required to have a minimum 50%(SC/ST will get 5% relaxation), score under any evaluation system at the Master’s level in the subject concerned.

(5) A candidates having M.Phil degree of Sardar Patel University or UGC-CSIR / NET / INSPIRE FELLOWSHIP / SLET / DBT / ICMR /GA / JRF, Other National Research Fellowship qualified are exempted from Entrance Test and need to fill up separate application form. (Non Entrance Test Category).

(6) A Candidate having M. Phil degree from other University (other than SPU) have to appeared in Entrance Test and need to fill up separate application form. (Entrance Test Category).

(7) Candidates who are desirous of Appling for more than one subject will have to submit separate prescribed application form for each subject with separate application Fee.

(8) The Application Fee and Entrance Test Fee can be remitted through Cash (During office hours Only, Except Second & Fourth Saturday of the month, All Sundays & Holiday) or Demand Draft in favor of the “Registrar, Sardar Patel University” drawn in any Nationalized Bank payable at Vallabh Vidyanagar. Write your Name, Address, and Mobile/Telephone Number on the back of the Demand Draft. Fee will not refunded.

(9) The Application form duly completed in all respect should be sent thorough Registered/ speed post only so as to reach before last date of receipt of application form on the following address:

(10) Applications received after the last date will not be entertained/ accepted. University will not be responsible for any postal delays/loss. Late and defective applications will be summarily rejected and no further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

(11) Applications submitted on any other format (including old format) will not be accepted.

(12) Application Form must be complete in all respects as per the format. All incomplete Application Forms will be rejected.

(13) The candidates in their own interest are requested to retain a photocopy of the Application Form, Fee Receipt and Demand draft for record.

(14) University may change the centre or date of examination without assigning any reason.

(15) The use of calculators or Log Tables is not permitted. Mobile phones and electronic devices etc. are not allowed in the Examination Hall/Room. University authority will not be responsible for any loss of your belonging.

(16) Candidates will not be allowed to write any question from the Test Booklet on the Admission Card or on any other paper.

(17) Qualifying the Entrance Test would not confer a right on any person for admission as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for admission.

(18) There is no provision for re-evaluation & re-assessment of answer sheets.

(19) The decision of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor shall be final on any dispute.

(20) The University reserves the rights to increase or decrease vacant seats for admission without prior notice.

(21) Canvassing in any form on behalf of any candidate will disqualify the candidate. (22) A candidate who is selected for Ph.D. admission have to submit and present his/her research

proposal in counseling as per R.PG.Ph.D. 21. (23) A candidate who is working as part time/fulltime job, and is selected for Ph.D. admission have to

submit the NOC from employer.

(24) A candidate who is selected for Ph.D. admission (Full Time & Part Time) have to complete Ph.D. course work as per R. PG. Ph.D. 33 (www.spuvvn.edu/academic_programs/phd/)

(25) No candidate shall be allowed to register simultaneously for any other course after registering for Ph. D. If, at any point in time, it is found to be otherwise, his/her admission shall ipso facto stand cancelled, and all the fees and deposits paid by the candidate shall stand forfeited.

(Note : Those Students who have cleared the Ph.D. Entrance Test in first session i.e. August-2015

are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance test and need not to appear in entrance test for second session i.e. Jan.-2016. Students have to apply in University subject to the availability of seats.)

Proforma of Certificate to be obtained from the Principal/HoD/Director certifying the applicant has obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST) or equivalent based on latest available grades/marks on College/Institution’s Letterhead. This form has to be submitted by candidates who have completed the final year but are awaiting the results.
