Annual Summary Report of Examination Section 2015-16
Types of examinations conducted by Examination section: -
During the Academic Year 2015-16 the Central Examination Section Conducted three types of
Examinations.
1. Annual Examination:
Annual examination is conducted at the end of the Academic year to review the learning outcome of the
course and for the assessment of the each student and to judge whether the student has acquired desired
knowledge and skills to get promoted to higher class. Annual Examination is conducted at the end of each
year of the course.

2. Semester end Examination:
The university follows the semester system in some courses where the academic year is divided into two
terms. The end semester examination is conducted by University.

3. Supplementary Examination:
Supplementary Examination may be conducted within six months. As per examination manual
Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, the supplementary examination should not be conducted before four months and
after six months of conduction of main examination. The supplementary examination gives chance to
unsuccessful candidates to clear the examination and join the main batch to continue the study.
Process of Conduction of Examination
The University Examination is conducted as per the Examination byelaws and Examination Manual. The
rules and regulations established for uneventful conduction of University Examinations are followed
during the conduct of Examination.

Convocation Report:
The 4th Annual Convocation ceremony of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth an Institution Deemed to be University
was held on 17thAugust 2015 at Amphitheatre at Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Campus. Justice K. G.
Balkrishnan, Retd. Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India was the Chief Guest and Dr. Mansukhbhai K.
Shah, Hon’ble President Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Trust was Guest of Honour for the convocation
ceremony. The convocation procession marched from university building to the convocation venue. The
4lth Annual Convocation Ceremony was declared open by The Hon’ble Chancellor of the Sumandeep
Vidyapeeth an Institution Deemed to be University, The Deans /Principals of respective constituent
institutes of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth prayed the members of the Board of the Management and Academic
Council to permit the students to receive their Degrees or Diplomas which was passed by the Hon’ble
Chancellor of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth.

Details of reform adopted during the year.
Following Examination related reforms were adopted during the year 2015-16
REFORM
01
Moderation system for question papers:
For MD/MS/PG Diploma and MDS: There shall be a chairman of the
Board of Paper setters who shall be an external examiner and shall moderate
the questions.
For MBBS: There shall be a chairman of the Board of Paper setters who shall
be an internal examiner and shall moderate the questions.
For all other UG and PG courses in all faculties: The questions shall be
moderated by the internal examiner.
Note:
• There should be minimum of six question papers procured by the
examination section from different examiners across the country, which is to
be placed before the moderator, who shall mix up the questions from different
papers and make as many new question paper sets as provided.
• The moderation of question papers to be done well in advance before the
commencement of exams.

Placing the results before Board of Examination for review
For any particular year /semester of course, if the pass percentage is less than
50%, the result should be placed before the Board of Examinations for review
before notification.

Number of examiners for BDS course:
There shall be two examiners (one internal and one external) for BDS practical
examinations and theory evaluation if the candidates are less than 15 per day in
place of four examiners. If the candidates per day are between 15 to 20, then
the Controller of Examinations will decide on the number of examiners.

Time duration between prelims examinations and final university
examinations:
There should be gap of at least one month between preliminary examinations and
final University examinations in all the colleges, so that the students get time to
improve upon their performance.

Internal marks for repeater students:
“The respective constituent units shall calculate fresh internal assessment
marks based on the performance, attendance etc. (vide respective statutory
regulations) during the preceding period and also consider the previous
internal marks if any and submit the best internal marks to the university
before start of University theory examinations for use during subsequent
examination of the failed candidate”.

Status of Automation of Examination Department during 2015-16
The central examination Section of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth conducts the Semester end/ Year end University examination for all the students of constituent institutes. The processing of result and related data is done through the examination Management software. The software is programmed as per the instructions and requirements laid down by respective councils. There is provision for awarding of grace marks as per the prevailing rules of different programs. The software is programmed for tallying the marks and declaring the result as ‘pass’ or ‘fail’.

notifications, examination forms availability, scrutiny of filled examination forms, allotment of seat
numbers to the candidates, issuing the Admit card to the candidates, appointment of paper setters,
appointment of moderators, appointment of invigilators, Senior Supervisor, procuring the blank answer
sheets and related stationery.
Examination Phase:
The conduction of written and clinical/practical examination. This phase involves appointment of external
and internal examiners to conduct the practical / clinical examination and to evaluate theory answer
scripts. Invigilation is done by appointed staff and vigilance squad.
Post-Examination Phase:
After assessment of theory answer scripts and conduction of practical/clinical; examination. Decoding of
answer scripts and data entry into exam software for processing of the result. Declaration of result and
grievance redressal related to evaluation.

Convocation Report/ Degree Awarded:
The 5th Annual Convocation ceremony of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth an Institution Deemed to be University
was held on 10th September 2016 at Amphitheatre at Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Campus Dr. B. Suresh
Hon’ble President, Pharmacy Council of India and Vice-Chancellor JSS University, Mysore was the Chief
Guest and Dr. Mansukhbhai K. Shah, Hon’ble President Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Trust was Guest of
Honor for the convocation ceremony.
The convocation procession marched from university building to the convocation venue. The 5th
Annual Convocation Ceremony was declared open by The Hon’ble Chancellor of the Sumandeep
Vidyapeeth an Institution Deemed to be University, The Deans /Principals of respective constituent
institutes of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth prayed the members of the Board of the Management and Academic
Council to permit the students to receive their Degrees or Diplomas which was passed by the Hon’ble
Chancellor of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth.

Frequency of Evidence Based Pharmacy Education University
examinations for B. Pharm (Semester system):
For the B. Pharm students who are following semester system, the University shall
conduct Evidence Based Pharmacy Examinations, annually at the end of 2nd, 4th, 6th
and 8th semesters.

For BDS course:
There shall be two internal examiners from college and two external examiners
preferably from outside the state.

For MDS course:
There shall be two internal examiners from college and two external examiners out of
whom at least one shall be from outside the state.
Or
One internal examiner from college and three external examiners out of which at least
one shall be from within the state.
Note: The dissertation evaluators will be given preference to be the practical
examiners, in case they reject the examinership, fresh examiners will be appointed.

“The failed students of annual examination are eligible to appear for supplementary
examination under regulation 10 of the Pharm D regulations, 2008 and if the failed
students of annual examination pass in the supplementary examination they are
eligible for promotion to next higher class without losing additional six months.
However, failure in more than two subjects in the supplementary examination shall
debar the students from promotion to the next year classes”
Either Remedial mathematics or Biology can be carried forward to II year Pharm D as
an additional failed subject along with two failed subjects of I year under regulation 15
of the Pharm D Regulations, 2008 subject to the condition that failure in more than
two subjects shall debar the candidate from promotion to the next year class (III year)

Internal marks for repeater students:
“The respective constituent units shall calculate fresh internal assessment marks
based on the performance, attendance etc. (vide respective statutory regulations)
during the preceding period and also consider the previous internal marks if any and
submit the best internal marks to the university before start of University theory
examinations for use during subsequent examination of the failed candidate”.

06 Re-evaluation and Re-totalling system:
a) Double evaluation system being followed in the Deemed to be University was
abolished and single evaluation for all the undergraduate programs introduced.
b) Introduction of revaluation system from the forthcoming examinations along with
retotaling system.
c) For BDS course the revaluation will be done by two duly qualified external
examiners as mandated by DCI and for all other courses it will be done by one single
duly qualified external examiner.
d) There shall be no revaluation of practical/clinical examinations.

Annual examination is conducted at the end of the Academic year to review the learning outcome

“The candidates if fail in more than one/two subjects in any nursing
programme can be promoted to next year. A candidate can take any number
of attempts with a condition that maximum period allowed is as prescribed
for each nursing programme. However, all papers need to be cleared before
appearing in the final examinations”.

Supplementary examinations for MBA students:
Supplementary examinations for the failed MBA students will be conducted
within 45 days of declaration of results.

Formulation of Uniform policy for UG and PG reassessment
1.For PG courses
• The matter of re-evaluation for PG examination of all the courses offered
in all the constituent institutions was reviewed. In interest of the students
and to ensure fair justice, the system of re-evaluation & re totaling need to
be introduced as per the policy already in practice for undergraduate
students.
• The re-evaluation to be carried out by two independent external examiners
and average marks obtained in evaluation will be considered for comparison
with previous marks and the best will be considered for declaration of
results.
2. For UG courses
• There shall be re-evaluation of the answer scripts for all the
Undergraduate courses by an external examiner, However for BDS course
the re-evaluation shall be done by two external examiners and the average
marks will be considered as the marks obtained in re-evaluation as per
regulation of Dental Council of India.
• The best of marks obtained between regular evaluation and re-evaluation
will be taken into consideration for declaring the results after re-evaluation.
• There shall be no re-evaluation of practical/clinical examinations.
• The application form for re totaling and re-evaluations shall be separate.
• The board resolved to introduce re totaling in practical/clinical for UG
courses.

Remuneration amount for examiners who come for
reassessment and non-Practical Examinations
The board resolved to give the remuneration for those examiners who come
for evaluation of non-practical subjects and re-evaluation of answer scripts
at par with those who come for the practical examination and theory
evaluation in the university examination according to their
qualification/grade as they have to take leave from their workplace and
come for evaluation.

Unfair Means Enquiry Committee was formed to investigate any of the reported case of the unfair means practice by the examinee. The committee includes minimum four members and maximum seven members.

Types of examination conducted by Examination section: -
During the Academic Year 2018-19 the Central Examination Section Conducted three types of
Examinations.
1. Annual Examination:
Annual examination is conducted at the end of the Academic year to review the learning outcome
of the course and for the assessment of the each student and to judge whether the student has
acquired desired knowledge and skills to get promoted to higher class. Annual Examination is
conducted at the end of each year of the course.

2. Semester end Examination:
The university follows the semester system in some courses where the academic year is divided
into two terms. The end semester examination is conducted by University.

3. Supplementary Examination:
Supplementary Examination may be conducted within six months. As per examination manual
Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, the supplementary examination should not be conducted before four
months and after six months of conduction of main examination. The supplementary
examination gives chance to unsuccessful candidates to clear the examination and join the main
batch to continue the study.

Process of Conduction of Examination
The University Examination is conducted as per the Examination byelaws and Examination
Manual. The rules and regulations established for uneventful conduction of University
Examinations are followed during the conduct of Examination.
Conduct of University Examination can be divided into three phases as shown below.
Pre-Examination Phase:
During this phase all examination related preparation are done which includes publication of
various notifications, examination forms availability, scrutiny of filled examination forms,
allotment of seat numbers to the candidates, issuing the Admit card to the candidates,
appointment of paper setters, appointment of moderators, appointment of invigilators, Senior
Supervisor, procuring the blank answer sheets and related stationery.
Examination Phase:
The conduction of written and clinical/practical examination. This phase involves appointment of
external and internal examiners to conduct the practical / clinical examination and to evaluate
theory answer scripts. Invigilation is done by appointed staff and vigilance squad.
Post-Examination Phase:
After assessment of theory answer scripts and conduction of practical/clinical; examination.
Decoding of answer scripts and data entry into exam software for processing of the result.
Declaration of result and grievance redressal related to evaluation.

Convocation Ceremony was dissolved by Hon’ble Chancellor. The convocation ceremony was

Following Examination related reforms were adopted during the year 2018-19
Review of time duration for declaration of
results after examinations.
It was resolved to declare results of all the
examinations as early as possible but not
exceeding 30 days after the completion of
examinations.
Formulation of guidelines to provide
writer/scribe for handicapped/injured
students during exams.
It was resolved to approve the following
guidelines for providing writer/scribe for
handicapped/injured students to write the
University theory examinations.
• The examinee to provide certificate from the
treating doctor citing inability to write and the
reason to be genuine.
• The writer shall be provided only if the
inability to write examinations is due to
health/physical disability issues.
• The application needs to be approved by the
vice-chancellor and if needed the candidate
may be subjected to health check-up again at
Dhiraj General Hospital, Sumandeep
Vidyapeeth.
• The writer to be from other stream of course
which does not have same subjects of that of
the examinee.
• The writer to be provided from examination
section and not to be suggested by the
examinee.
• The Examinee to be charged additional
Rs.300/- per subject as writer charges by
University.
• The Writer to be paid remuneration of Rs.
250/- per subject by University.
• The compensatory time given for
examination shall be 20 minutes per each hour
of examination.
• The examination to be conducted under
CCTV surveillance and in a separate room with
a supervisor so that other students are not
disturbed in the main examination hall.

1. Annual Examinations:
Annual examination is conducted at the end of the academic year to review the
learning outcome of the Programs and for the assessment of each student and to
evaluate whether the student has acquired desired knowledge and skills to get
promoted to higher class. Annual Examination is conducted at the end of each
academic year of the Programs.

The university follows the semester system in some Programs where the academic
year is divided into two terms. The end semester examination is conducted by
Department of Examination and Evaluation, SVDU

The University Examination is conducted as per the Guidelines of Respective
Statutory Bodies and examination bye-laws of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Deemed to Be
University. The rules and regulations established for uneventful conduction of
University Examinations are followed during the conduct of Examination.
Conduct of University Examination can be divided into three phases as shown below.
Pre-Examination Phase:
During this phase all examination related preparation are done which includes
publication of various notifications, availability of examination forms, scrutiny of
filled examination forms, allotment of seat numbers to the candidates, issuing the
admit cards to the candidates, appointment of paper setters, appointment of
moderators, appointment of invigilators and senior supervisors, procuring the blank
answer sheets and related stationery.
Examination Phase:
This Phase includes conduction of theory and clinical/practical examinations. This
phase involves appointment of external and internal examiners to conduct the
practical / clinical examination and to evaluate theory answer scripts. Invigilation is
done by appointed staff and vigilance squad.
Post-Examination Phase:
This phase includes all procedures done after the assessment of theory answer scripts
and conduction of practical/clinical examination.
It includes decoding of answer scripts and preparation of marks entry sheets,
checking and verification of prepared marks entry sheets, marks entry into exam
software for processing of the result. Manual checking of result before publication.

Report of 8th Annual Convocation
The 8th Annual Convocation ceremony of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth an Institution
Deemed to be University was held on 24th August 2020 at Auditorium SBKSMIRC,
Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Campus.
The 8th Annual convocation was held virtually due to on-going COVID-19 Pandemic.
Live streaming of the annual event was done on You-tube. The students, Teaching
staff, non-teaching staff, Parents and Members of Academic Council viewed the live
streaming of the event on You-Tube.
Dr. S. Sacchidanand, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of
Health Sciences, Karnataka was the Chief Guest for the event. He joined the event
virtually and delivered the Convocation address. Dr. Mansukhbhai Shah, Hon’ble
founder President, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth trust and Dr. Dixit M Shah, Hon’ble
President Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Trust were present as Guests of Honour for the
convocation ceremony.
The convocation procession marched from Central Hall SBKSMIRC to the
convocation venue. The 8th Annual Convocation Ceremony was declared open by The
Hon’ble Chancellor of the Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University, Dr.
Harshad Shah. The Deans /Principals of respective constituent institutes of
Sumandeep Vidyapeeth prayed the members of the Board of the Management and
Academic Council to permit the students to receive their Degrees or Diplomas which
was passed by the Hon’ble Chancellor of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth.

Conduction of Examination:
The entire world is facing an unprecedented crisis due to outbreak of COVID-19
Pandemic. Social Distancing is one of the key components in the fight against this
Pandemic. This has created a challenge for the students as well as for the institutions
in terms of conducting the University Examinations.
The department of examination and evaluation, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Deemed to
be University has implemented guideline issued by various statutory bodies.
The Department of Examination and Evaluation has done various changes for safe
conduction of Examinations for UG and PG students during this pandemic time.
Some of the university examinations were conducted online either using online test
software or by creating the virtual examination hall.
During the pandemic and lockdown, university examinations were conducted either
in pen-paper mode or online mode as per the guidelines issued by statutory bodies.
Virtual Convocation Ceremony.
Due to On-going COVID-19 Pandemic the 8th Annual Convocation Ceremony
was held virtually. This is the first time the Annual Convocation Ceremony was held
virtually to conferred the Degrees and Diplomas to the students.
All the students, Chef-Guest for the event, teaching Staff, Non-teaching staff,
Parents, Members of Academic Council virtually attended the Convocation
Ceremony.
