12/7/ 2014 - Parent-Teacher Meeting

College regularly calls for Meeting of Parent & Teachers. In this meeting mentors of each classes

as well as incharge and coordinator of various programmes and activities is been introduced to

students and parents. In this meeting Principal gave address on Rules, Disciplines, University

Exam & Internal Examination System, Internal activities, Career Opportunities etc.

12/7/ 2014 - Lecture by Shri Yashwant Shitole

Topic- Qualitative development of Population through skill development programmes

On the eve of Population Day the college has organized Guest Lecture on the theme of ‘Skill

Development”. For this programme Shri. Yashwant Shitole was present and gave his speech on

the topic. He shared his experiences with us and appealed to students to learn some extra skills in

addition to the knowledge of law.

31/07/2014 - PLV training programme at District Court - Satara

During the year 2009 National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) brought out a scheme called

the Para-Legal Volunteers Scheme which aimed at imparting legal training to volunteers selected

from different walks of life so as to ensure legal aid reaching all sections of people through the

process of Para-Legal Volunteers Scheme; ultimately removing the barriers into access to justice.

The Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) are expected to act as intermediaries bridging the gap

between the common people and the Legal Services Institutions to remove impediments in

access to justice. Ultimately, the process aims at Legal Services Institutions reaching out to the

people at their doorsteps rather than people approaching such Legal Services Institutions.

Para Legal Volunteers are appointed as per District Legal Services Authority, Satara under

NALSA. Near about 40 students of this college has been appointed as PLVs to guide and aware

the common masses about the law and legal literacy. In this training programme lecture delivered

by Dr. Pooja Narwadkar, Mahendra Khairnar, Satish Mane, Priety Ghatge-Deshmukh on various

socio-legal issues and tried to literate the PLVs on legal aspects.

06/08/2014 - Teachers Training Programme

One Day University sponsored Teachers Training Programme on revised syllabus of Company

Law at I. M. Law College, Satara. Shivaji University has introduced new syllabi for Three yrs

and Five yrs Law courses as per the directions of BCI. In this training programme resource

person and Dean addresses the subject teacher about the aim and objectives of introducing new

syllabi. R. S. Jadhav & P. K. Ghatge-Deshumkh, Asst. Prof. participated in the programme.

Vidhi pushpa is a law lecture series, arranged in the college annually. This year Mrs. Vasundhara

Patil – former Principal was invitedto deliver a lecture on criminal law.

18-25 Sept. 2014 - Professional Development on Family Court practices

Menon Institute on Law Advocacy & Training, Kerla & ILS Law College, Pune organized

(Seven days) Training Programme on Professional Development on Family Court practices,

Dr. Pooja Narwadkar, Mr. Mahendra Khairnar was participated in this workshop.

This workshop is meaningful for delivering practical seriousness of law among our society.

14/09/ 2014 - Inauguration of NSS

NSS Unit of 50 students inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Sanjay Thigale, Ex. NSS Coordinator

SUK. In this college at the first time NSS Unit was started by the Programme Office Mr.

Mahendra S. Khairnar.many students have shown keen interest for being part of NSS. The

programme was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Thigale, he is an Associate Professor at Patangrao

Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Sangli and was the former NSS Coordinator of Shivaji University.

23/09/ 2014 - Jail Visit at Yerwada, Pune

As part of Practical training and internship, Jail visit was arranged by the college. Students are

permitted to visit Central Jail at Yarwada, Pune under the supervision of V. V. IRale and R. S.

Jadhav sir. 40 students have visited to Yerwada Jail as well as to Family Court at Pune. Students

have witnessed Jail administration, Prison manual, living conditions of prisoners etc. Also

student visited to Family Court at Bharati Bhavan, Pune. Purpose of this is visit to aware the

students about the trial conducted at Family court, process of counseling and role of family

counselors in setting up families through proper counseling and negotiation.

29/09/ 2014 - Cultural programme

Rangoli, Poster & Quiz Competition under NSS, Dandiya Dance. On the eve of Navratra

‘Sharada Mahotsav’ was arranged under NSS. In this various cultural programmes and

competitions were held.

Programmes under NSS

ACTIVITIES- Movie club

This is an innovative activity is been organized in the college. Movie Club is established in the

college in order to introduce the concepts of law to students through fictional facts that are

depicted in movies.

MOVIE CLUB is the very innovative activity started in the college in order to enable the

students of law to understand the law through in a very effective way. The college is always

engage in occupying new ideas and ways to make the students aware and sensitive enough

towards socio-legal problem surrounded us.

Movie is one of the effective means which inspires, makes to laugh & love, makes to cry &

mournful, it makes to think & react, it helps to understand & participate, it awakens inner

conscience & thought process, it makes you feel & share.

Students’ participation

We did make the student aware about the objectives of Movie Club, benefits they will gain and

practical utility of movie club.

To enable the student to watch movie, we schedule our time-table in consonance with the timing

of movie club. So that every student can watch the movie without bunking any lecture.

We do conduct debate of students and makes them to discuss about various scenes, socio-legal

aspects which they have seen in the movie. This discussion goes on under the supervision of

faculties so that proper channel of discussion can be maintained and to have healthy churning.

Law College Sangli. Dr. Prafull Chavate who was working as Assistant Professor at New Law

College Sangli is now handed over charge of I/c principal at Law College Karad.

LOCAL INQUIRY COMMITTEE

OF SHIVAJI UNIVERSITY, KOLHAPUR

25TH NOV. 2014

Local Inquiry Committee of Shivaji University, Kolhapur visited the College on 25th

Nov. 2014.

This committee gives recommendation about the Extension of Affiliation of the College with the

University.

The Committee was consisted of:

3. Prof. Amit More- Member

Committee inspected the building, infrastructure of the college as well gone through the records

of the college. Committee was satisfied and appreciated the work done by the college in

academic and extra-curricular field.

Legal Literacy Programmes

under

National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi

For the year 2014-15

The camps were organized at the remote of hilly areas of Satara District. The targeted

groups were villagers, para legal officers, government servants, teachers and

anganwadi sevikas. The main aim of organizing such camps was to explain the laws in

Marathi language effectively. The leaflets/ booklets in Marathi language of various acts

viz. Domestic Violence Act, Anti Ragging, Human Rights Commission at national and

state level its functions and powers, Anti Superstition and Black Magic Act, Right to

Information Act was distributed among the masses which help the masses to

understand the laws in local language. The college also prepared photo frame of

preamble of Indian Constitution, Fundamental Duties and Anti Ragging Regulation

which was distributed to various government offices and authorities during the camp.

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) established under the legal services

authority act 1987 has granted Rs. 1.20 lakhs to Yashwantrao Chavan Law College,

Karad for the financial year 2014-15 vide letter no. G/44/2014-NALSA/2879 dated 26-

09-2014 was allotted to conduct legal awareness camps to promote awareness of legal

rights and duties among the citizens and to render justice to the masses. With the help

of eminent social activists, jurist, renowned advocates, human rights activist and

academicians the college organized 12 legal awareness camps on various topic at the

following places in Satara District.

Camp at college Premises Malkapur

On the eve of Women’s Day the college organized “Mahila Melawa” on 17th March 2015

in collaboration with Malkapur Nagar Panchayat,. More than 250 women’s around the

nearby vicinity attended the programme. Booklet in local language was distributed

among the masses. Shri. Prutviraj Chavan Ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Satej

Patil, Ex Minister, Shri Anandrao Patil, MLA were present for the programme.

College has successfully organized the activities under NALSA. Through this we have reached

to more than 2000 people at remote area. We distributed books on law in Marathi so that they

can understand the law in layman language. Our objective was to enhance and empower the

common man towards law and spread legal literacy and we achieved that end. We have sent

report along with audited statement of accounts to NALSA. We have maintained transparency in

spending of amount and have not used a single penny for our own benefit. We believe in Social

transformation through legal education.

To conclude:-

In this academic year we secured almost all goals that we set for at the beginning of the year. It is

possible to meet personal satisfaction by offering what we possess.
