A Year of Impact

Sacred Heart’s hospital gift shop, Heartfelt Gifts, is more than a place to shop for a unique gift or flowers for a sick friend. Heartfelt sums up the way shoppers feel whenever they visit either location.

Dedicated guild volunteers, who staff the shop’s RiverBend and University District locations, dispense plentiful doses of warmth, joy, sympathy and compassion – along with an array of gifts and one-of-a-kind treasures.

Dear Friends: One of the amazing stories of this year’s Annual Report involves a group of dedicated volunteers who give much more than their time.

The Sacred Heart Guild enthusiastically runs our two hospital gift shops, donating 100 percent of the proceeds back to the hospital to support vital technology and programs. Even more

inspiring is the way this group of volunteers touches the lives of patients, visitors and staff – offering comforting sentiments and sharing in joyous moments.

As you glance through this year’s report, you will also see how your commitment changes lives.

From state-of-the-art equipment to the complete remodel of a pediatric clinic, and from scholarships for caregivers to advance their education to more than 850 Thanksgiving baskets for local families in need, your generosity helped improve the health of our community in so many ways.

We thank you for supporting our mission and helping improve the health of this wonderful community we cherish. You inspire us.

In health and gratitude,

Rick Skeie, President, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation

Bicoastal Media and Pacific Continental Bank were honored recently as Children’s Miracle Network Champions for their contributions to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric services at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Riverbend. The Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) is a program of PeaceHealth’s Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation.

Bicoastal, a sponsor of Sacred Heart’s CMN program for more than 16 years, hosts a two-day radiothon during which their listeners hear firsthand about the children we treat and the compassionate caregivers who care for our patients. Their support and the genuine commitment of Biocoastal’s on air talent raises awareness of our service, and brings significant, ongoing support to Sacred Heart’s pediatric and NICU services.

Pacific Continental Bank has been a part of Sacred Heart’s CMN program for 23 years. In 2013, the bank increased its already generous commitment as the Presenting Sponsor for the largest CMN fundraiser, Kids Helping Kids. Their sponsorship allows us to continue a tradition of working with 17 high schools across mid-Oregon and collectively raising an average of $350,000 each year to support pediatric care at Sacred Heart.

Together, these two committed businesses have helped us expand services for our NICU patients and for the thousands of pediatric patients we treat each year. We salute them and their employees for their dedication and support.

Business Champions

For Jeff Larson, PeaceHealth is a homecoming Jeff Larson, the new Chief Development Officer for PeaceHealth Oregon Network, previously worked for PeaceHealth from 1996-2007 in several foundation roles. He rejoins PeaceHealth after having served as Vice President, Chief Development Officer for Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis.

“I’m honored to be back at PeaceHealth,” Larson said. “The mission of the Sisters has always inspired me – and I’m excited to share with our employees, our donors and our community how philanthropy enables us to make tangible differences in patient care.”

Sacred Heart Honors and Recognition
