It has been a term during which we have journeyed with those in sorrow and rejoiced and celebrated the growth and successes of our students. Student reports were sent home on Friday and parent teacher conferences are being held this week. Teachers would appreciate any feedback that you have about the reports. A big thank you to all of our families who supported the Parents and Friends Trivia and Games night on Friday night. What a great night every- one had. Thank you Christy and Aine for your organisaƟon. To all our families who were able to aƩend the 9.00am Mass on Sunday morning, thank you. Our students led the singing and the dance reflecƟon. They did themselves and their school proud. The Mass had a beauƟful atmosphere with so many families present. Thank you to our teachers Miss Graham and Miss Dunn for their support. Our nature play area is progressing. A team of sixteen fathers, supported by two mothers, worked together on Sunday to take down the old play equipment and complete some preparaƟon work on the site. We are repurposing what we can from the old play equipment. Your work is appreciated. We have a whole school assembly on Friday at 2.30pm which Year 6C will lead. Hopefully many parents will be able to join with us for the final assembly of the term. Mindful Students will be recognized at the assembly. As we come to the end of the term thank you to all of the families who have contributed to the life of our school in any way. We have so many of you supporƟng our endeavours by being part of commiƩees and volunteering your service to the school. It makes our school the place it is. Enjoy the holiday period. Hopefully it is an opportunity for a liƩle ‘down Ɵme’ for you and your children. May the holidays be safe and happy for all. May God’s blessing be on you, Carolyn MaƩhews Feast of the Sacred Heart CelebraƟng our School Feast day – the feast of the Sacred Heart. We paused in our school community through acƟviƟes in our classrooms and the celebraƟon of Mass to focus on what the feast means for our lives today. It is summed up in our school moƩo, ‘to love is to serve’. Loving gentle God, We thank you for our school, Sacred Heart. We thank you for caring friends, families and teachers. Give us the courage and gentleness to respect and care for each other and all crea‐ Ɵon. Guide us to act with jusƟce, mercy and peace to be like Jesus in all we do and say. We ask this through the loving heart of Jesus. Amen. A word from Mr King

Holiday Time with your Children The term is nearly over, your child has put great effort into their academic and social pursuits at school and you’ve been able to see their progress via the report and parent/teacher conferences.  Now it’s holiday  me! Holidays are a great opportunity to spend  me with your children individually, and when done regularly will reap many benefits for them, you, and your rela onship together. Spending  me with each child may be difficult when you have quite a few children and you are busy and  red. To be clear, you don’t need to spend every day all day staring into your children’s eyes telling them they are perfect. It’s not possible nor do they need that. But since it’s important, it’s good to find easy ways to make it happen.

What One‐On‐One Time With You Does For Your Kids Individual  me will strengthen your bond - when they have your undivided a en on, they’ll share things with you they wouldn’t share in

a group.   It may cut back on a en on-ge ng behaviour - spending  me alone with each child will help to fill up their ‘love tanks’ and there will be

less of a need to fight for your a en on.  It will build self-esteem and worth in less outgoing children - by singling out your quiet child (and each child in the family in their own

turn) you’ll show them that you are willing to take the  me to draw them out of their shell.  It communicates directly to your child that you value their needs and desires - this one-on-one  me will be par cularly special for them

because you two being alone means no one else (another sibling trying to complain about something) is there to say his/her idea is     stupid, no fun, or uncool.

It may be the only way to really get to know your child - having mul ple siblings discussing topics at the dinner table may o en leave some younger or quieter siblings in silence or unable to compete with the interes ng talk

If you’ve consistently carved out  me with each child and communicated that you are always there for them (and are willing to take some me away from everyone else) then they’ll be more ready to come to you with what is important in their lives.

Easy ways to spend one‐on‐one me with kids Have one child per night help you cook dinner.  When possible, run errands with one child at a  me.  Take walks around your neighbourhood (it’s free and exercise, win win).  Join them alone for one of their interests (sports, dance, library, etc.).  Do your individual chores together.  Read books together.  Do home projects together. They must be done, so why not together?  Play their favourite game.  Spending  me alone with your children on a consistent basis will help solidify their place in the family (in their minds) and will bring you both memories that will last a life me.  It is amazing what conversa ons come out when you spend this alone  me with your children. Have a great two week break from school.

Kindergarten made wind socks to test how much wind was outside.

Students in 6C curled up by the interactive fire, enjoying a hot
