MAI MissionThe main mission of MAI is continuous training of highly qualified personnel, conducting research works with a view to ensuring availability of personnel and innovation research for the purpose of steady development of aviation, rocket and space industries on the basis of the integration of science, education and industry.
1930 – Foundation for the purpose to prepare specialists for
design bureaus and aviation industry plants (ranging from the structural design of wings, fuselages, landing gears, and propulsion systems to the technology and economics of production).
Since1960’s – personnel training in the field of aeronautics,
astronautics and space engineering.
Since1993 – Status of Technical University.
Since2009 – Category “National Research University”.
MAI today• 12 faculties, 2 institutes (as faculties) and 4
branches;• over 160 000 alumni; • over 20 000 students;• 30 Bachelor degree program, 7 Master degree
programs and 9 engineering degree programs, 49 post-graduate programs;
• over 2000 faculty staff including 18 full members and corresponding members of the RAS, over 450 D.Sc., professors and over 1100 Ph.D., associate professors;
• the industrial park: unique complex of laboratories, 7 resource centers, 12 research and education centers, multiple access centre, over 20 student design bureaus, experimental plant, spacecraft control centre, own aerodrome and other facility units of the innovative and social university infrastructure;
• the only University in Russia, having a Certificate for development of aeronautical engineering.
