DESCRIPTION

By combining the efforts of business analysis and user experience design, building efficient, easy to use software that achieves the goals of both the business and the users is easier. User Experience and Business Analysis are two disciplines that apply analysis and design thinking during the product and software development process. Both roles are unique and the people that fill them have different strengths, but often times the roles overlap. In this talk, we'll explain how we worked through UX/BA clashes, what we learned from those experiences and provide you with new strategies to take back to your workplace that will help you to improve the collaboration across your teams and ultimately create a better product.

2 Disciplines 1 Product

BAs are the voice of the business and UXers bring multiple perspectives together to form a cohesive view; to be successful both should be involved in all stages of the product’s lifecycle.

#LeanUX14 @playfulpixel @_themaj

Understand Roles and Responsibilities

Yes, the roles are very similar, and often overlap, but this provides learning opportunities on both sides, so that the team can be more effective and efficient.

#LeanUX14 @playfulpixel @_themaj

You can't do shit without trust. Don't be afraid to try different ways to engage with your teammates.

#LeanUX14 @playfulpixel @_themaj

Establish Trust

Superheroes

Sometimes people are bastards and you can't change that, but you can learn to work with them by spending time together and getting to know them.

#LeanUX14 @playfulpixel @_themaj

Learn to Work with Bastards

You never really know what's going to come of intensely difficult work situations. Sometimes, a bastard might just become your best friend.
