Turkey Trot – A Community Service Activity to Benefit the

Hawaii Food Bank

Preschool and Kindergarten Students

Getting ready to run – the students and teachers line up by the starting line.

They’re off!Students enjoyed running around the field.

Some students ran several laps in the allocated time.

First Graders!

Classes lined up after dropping off their canned goods.

Student Council members collected, boxed, and counted all the food items.

Third GradersTurkey Trot = Community Service while participating in an activity that is

good for our health and well-being

Fourth GradersMany of the fourth graders are experienced runners and ran the whole time!

Mr. Hanson was one of the teachers who ran with his students. (Other teachers walked or ran, too.)

Walking is good exercise, too. Many of our staff walked although some ran with their students.

The Final Total

Our goal was to collect 1,000 non-perishable food items. Through the generosity of the Hale Kula Elementary School community, we donated 1,500 food items to the Hawaii Food Bank.
