Socially AcceptableWhat does the Bible say about Social Media?

#instacurityThere's no worse feeling than when a comment on your FB status

by SOMEONE ELSE gets more likes than YOUR actual status... :-/

Going through your Twitter timeline and deleting any tweets that

never got a retweet or reply...

Sometimes I do things JUST to Instagram it.

I HATE WHEN PEOPLE COMMENT ON MY INSTAGRAM PHOTO,

BUT THEY DON'T DOUBLE TAP!!!

If you can look good without a filter, imagine what you can look like

WITH a filter!

Retweeted too much. Now I need to think of an original tweet to

show that I'm witty as well. UGH.

Disclaimers:

1) I am NOT going to tell you

OR YOUR PARENTS that

you should delete your

accounts.

2) I am also not going to tell

you you NEED to have an

account.

Social media can be used for

good or evilJust like everything else

1 Timothy 1:8 -

We know that the law is good when used

correctly.

Social media can be used for good or evil

1 Corinthians 10:23-24, 31-32

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but

not everything is good for you. You say, “I am

allowed to do anything”—but not everything is

beneficial. Don’t be concerned for your own

good but for the good of others.

!

Social media can be used for good or evil

1 Corinthians 10:23-24, 31-32

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you

do, do it all for the glory of God. Don’t give

o!ense to Jews or Gentiles or the church of

God.

Use it for

GOOD!

Be full of JOY!Ecclesiastes 3:4

A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve

and a time to dance.

John 10:10

My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying

life

James 1:17

Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us

from God our Father.

So, if social media can be good or

bad, how do I honor God online?

Forwards?

#HashtagJesus

So, if social media can be good or

bad, how do I honor God online?

Be Holy

1 Peter 1:15 - But

now you must be holy

in EVERYTHING YOU

DO, just as God who

chose you is holy.

So, if social media can be good or

bad, how do I honor God online?

Social Media reflects who

you are...

Who are you reflecting?

Colossians 3:17 - And

whatever you do or

say, do it as a

representative of The

Lord Jesus, giving

thanks through Him to

God the Father

So, if social media can be good or

bad, how do I honor God online?

Guard your tongues:

Ephesians 4:29 -

Don't use foul or

abusive language. Let

everything you say be

good and helpful, so

that your words will be

an encouragement to

those who hear them.

So, if social media can be good or

bad, how do I honor God online?

Be careful of what you

do, say and post online

Matthew 10:16 -

Look, I am sending

you out as sheep

among wolves, so be

as shrewd as snakes

and harmless as

doves

A quick example. Snapchat. There is no such thing as online privacy, only perceived

privacy!

Snapchat was built as a tool to get girls to send

inappropriate pictures so that the creators could keep them.!

!

“Sharing of information: With vendors, consultants and

other service providers who need access to such

information to carry out work on our behalf;!

In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger,

sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a

portion of our business to another company;”

A quick example. Snapchat. There is no such thing as online privacy, only perceived privacy !

!

They keep ALL of your pictures AND they are required by law

to do so.!

" Detect, investigate and/or prevent fraudulent, unauthorized

or illegal activity; and!

" Carry out any other purpose for which the information was

collected.!

!

What does that mean? That means your “private pictures” are

ultimately for sale. And you’ve given them permission to sell

them.

A quick example. Snapchat. For more information or to read the terms of service yourself

go to!

Final thought:

If we are aware of what we are agreeing to and acting

in accordance with scripture we really have nothing to

worry about.

Ask agin, what are you representing?

Matthew 10:16 - Look, I am sending you out as sheep

among wolves, so be as shrewd as snakes and

harmless as doves
